Chapter one hundred and fifty seven

“Jonathan, please,” Rhys said, his voice rising. “Just leave me alone for a few minutes, I feel a bit better cause the pain comes and goes. I’ll explain everything later, I promise.”

Jonathan crossed his arms, his expression stubborn. “No, Rhys, I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what’s going on.”

Rhys felt a wave of pain wash over him, and he knew he couldn’t keep this up much longer. He needed to get Jonathan to leave, and he needed to do it. “Fine,” Rhys said, his voice cold. “If you won’t leave, then maybe I should.”

Rhys stood up, his legs trembling beneath him. He took a step forward, his eyes locked on Jonathan’s. “Rhys, don’t be ridiculous,” Jonathan said, taking a step back. “You’re not going anywhere in your condition.”

Rhys smiled, a cold, calculated smile. “Watch me,” he said. And with that, Rhys turned and slowly walked to the en-suite bathroom, leaving Jonathan standing alone in the room.
