Chapter One

PROLOGUE:

It was a stormy day. The heavy raindrops were back music for a scene of utter devastation.

The air was thick with the heavy smell of dust and blood, an unpleasant mix that hung heavy over the battlefield.

Bodies lay scattered, battered by the relentless rain, the majority belonging to their enemies, but a significant number were their own comrades, fallen members of the Falcon Team.

Two survivors, Alexander and Cassandra, huddled behind a broken pole, using it as a protective shield to protect themselves from the onslaught of guns.

Both were badly injured, but Alexander's wounds were more severe, a testament to his selfless act of shielding Cassandra from harm.

What was meant to be a routine mission had turned into a bloodbath, with most of their team members cut down before they could even begin their operation.

It was clear that their hideout had been betrayed, allowing their enemies to launch a surprise attack that killed almost all of their comrades.

But who was responsible for the treachery? The Falcon Team was an elite unit comprised of soldiers who fought for their country, protecting the innocent in the shadows.

Their missions were always conducted with utmost discretion, earning them the reputation of "ghost soldiers" among their peers. A team heard by the world but seen by few.

Yet, on this fateful day, ninety-nine of these fearless warriors had fallen victim to a sneak attack. Who could be so ruthless as to betray them before they could even engage the enemy?

Alexander, the team's captain, was consumed by grief and anger, his mind reeling from the magnitude of the tragedy.

Cassandra, his girlfriend and the last surviving member of the team whispered to him, her voice weak but resolute.

"We fight to the death!"

As they spoke, a deafening explosion rocked the air, and Alexander's anger boiled over despite his severe wounds.

"Those bastards will pay!" he snarled, his eyes fixed on the lifeless body of one of his comrades.

The weight of his loss was crushing. The physical pain of his wounds was shadowed by the emotional agony of seeing his brothers-in-arms cut down.

They were more than just teammates; they were a band of brothers, united in their quest for justice.

Now, they lay dead, their bodies battered by the rain, discarded like trash.

Alexander vowed to find the traitor among their superiors and make them pay for their treachery alongside their enemies.

Suddenly, a deafening explosion rocked the air again, forcing them to cover their ears.

"Cass, stay put and don't move from here," Alexander instructed the last surviving member of his team, who happened to be his girlfriend. "I'll scout out the enemy's position and be back shortly."

But Cassandra refused to back down. "No way, Alex! I'm coming with you!"

Alexander's expression turned stern. "You're not going anywhere, Cass. You're the only one left from my team, and you're my woman in every sense. I won't let you put yourself in harm's way." He said firmly.

The sounds of gunfire and explosions filled the air as they argued, their voices rising above the din.

"Cass, you're injured, for God's sake! Don't be reckless!" Alexander's frustration boiled over.

He had already lost his entire team, and the thought of losing Cassandra, too, was unbearable. He was struggling to keep his emotions in check, and the last thing he needed was for her to put herself in danger.

But Cassandra stood her ground. "You're wounded too, Alex. Maybe we should both stop being stubborn and retreat together."

Alexander's anger flared. "Damn it, Cass. Listen to me-"

But she cut him off. "You're being just as stubborn, Alex. Like I said, maybe we should both stop fighting and get out of here together."

Alexander's patience was wearing thin. "That's an order, Cassandra! As your captain, I command you to stay put and not move an inch!"

Cassandra knew he meant business, and with a heavy heart, she saluted and obeyed, despite her reluctance and pain.

"Yes, Captain," she whispered, her voice weak from her injuries.

"Good girl," Alexander said, kissing her forehead before turning to leave.

But he had barely taken three steps when a gun was pressed against the back of his head.

"I'm sorry, Alex. I love you, but..."

Alexander's heart sank as he slowly turned to face Cassandra, her gun still trained on him, tears streaming down her face.

"Cass, what are you doing?" he asked, his voice laced with shock and disbelief.

"Well, well, well... Look who we have here," a voice sneered, echoing through the chaos.

As Alex stood there, a group of five men emerged from the shadows with guns, encircling him with an air of menace.

The look of shock and hurt on his face was not a result of their sudden appearance but rather the devastating betrayal by Cassandra, the woman he loved.

"Cass..." he whispered, his voice laced with heartbreak as if his heart had shattered into a thousand pieces.

The memory of his brothers, who had fought alongside him, flashed before his eyes. They had not fallen on the battlefield but at the hands of the one person he trusted. The cruel reality was almost too much to bear.

Cassandra's bitter apology only added to the absurdity of the situation. "I'm sorry, this was my mission. I had no choice, Alex." She said while crying.

Alex felt a twisted sense of humor, wondering how he had unknowingly brought the enemy into their midst three years ago, only for her to slaughter his brothers. The irony was both cruel and laughable.

One of the men, growing impatient, snapped at Cassandra, "What's with the explanations? Just finish him off already. We don't have all day to waste on your confession."

Alex's pain and guilt were so overwhelming that he couldn't even be bothered by their presence. The weight of his brothers' deaths, which he felt responsible for, crushed him.

Cassandra attempted to speak, but Alex cut her off with a cold, piercing glare. At that moment, he hated her with every fiber of his being, wanting to tear her apart.

"Listen carefully," he warned, his voice low and menacing. "If I somehow manage to survive today, I'll come after you and your group. I'll make sure to avenge my brothers' blood, and you'll pay a heavy price for their blood. Mark my words.

I, Alexander Bennett, the captain and leader of the Falcon Team, the Flying Tiger, always keep my promises. You should know that by now." He said with so much hatred that Cassandra could practically see the monster she had created.

With his final declaration, Cassandra pulled the trigger, firing multiple shots into his chest.

Alex fell to the ground, his body crumpling into the pool of his own blood, mingling with the rain.

He lay there for what felt like an eternity as he waited for his final breath to leave him.

Before his eyes finally closed, he saw an old man in a white coat rushing to his side with many other people in white clothes.

And to the world, that was the end of the Falcon Team. From there onwards, there was no more Alexander Bennett, the Flying Tiger, and his team.
