Chapter 7
The cab that had carried Daniel and Victor came to a halt in front of a big black gate and they stepped out. After settling the driver, they went inside. The compound was filled with cars; Daniel looked around and saw something inside of him telling him not to go further. He halted, “Victor, I don't want to go; please, let's go back; this party is meant for rich people like us.” “Oh, come on, Daniel. Stop belittling yourself this way.” Victor waved his hand in dismissal. “We aren't going to do anything here. Just have a glimpse of everything, then go back.” He dragged Daniel's hand, taking him inside. The hall was filled with familiar faces as Daniel looked around, recognizing everyone as his fellow students in the same 300 level. Every one of them was all the people who were always mocking and making fun of him for being poor, except for Victor, who had always stood by his side. Everyone had already formed a circle leaving just two persons inside of it. “It seems like he is already proposing to her,” Daniel mumbled, walking closer to see things for himself. No one had taken notice of his presence yet since everyone was chanting, “Say yes, say yes, say yes.” The unison was going in one accord. Inside the circle, a young man was kneeling in front of a lady with a golden ring in his hand, his face raised, looking at the lady. This was Orval Morris, the rich arrogant campus guy. “Kathie, please, don't say no to me. I promise to give you the best life as you deserve. I'll lavish my money on you as well.” Morris said, “Please, be my girlfriend, will you?” He stretched out the ring. Meanwhile, as Daniel heard the name, his heart raced faster, and his eyes widened a bit. “Kathie?” He mumbled, trying not to believe it was his girlfriend, Kathie Karol. He started squeezing himself through the crowd to confirm his doubt, “Daniel, where are you going to?” Victor called his voice barely above the murmuring in the atmosphere. But before he could rush after him, Daniel had already made his way forward. “I love you very much, Kathie, please, don't say no to me,” Morris said again. He was a wealthy guy from a rich family that every lady chased after so it was certain that this lady wouldn't decline his proposal. The lady smiled widely, “Yes, I will be….” Before she could finish her words, a voice echoed, reverberating throughout the whole place and causing everyone to turn in a frown, wondering who dared to interrupt the incident. “Kathie Karol?” Daniel's voice echoed, overshadowing every other sound. A hint of confusion and surprise etched on his face as he stared at what seemed to be daydreaming. He had secretly prayed that it wouldn't be what he had thought before approaching the scene. But to his heartbreak, it was really his girlfriend, the one who had already bought a silver necklace for– Kathie Karol. Kathie's and Morris’ gazes landed on him. A hint of anger and embarrassment flashed through Kathie's eyes while Morris was filled with anger as he stood up with his fist clenched and face tightened. Morris stared at Daniel, his face blasting with fury, “Hey, you wretched popular campus guy, Daniel Hovsep, who permitted you into this place? And how dare you shout my girlfriend's name like that? Has poverty blinded your eyes not to see that this place isn't for people like you?” His words cut through Daniel's spine so hard that his blood boiled, and his face turned red, but he approached Kathie instead. “What are you doing here with this spoiled rich brat? I know he must have forced you with his influence to do this but don't worry, I'm here now to take you. Come with me, let's get out of here.” He held Kathie's hand, ignoring the disdainful looks that were on him. “Just let me go and don't touch me with your filthy hand again!” Kathie jerked her hand out of Daniel's grip. Daniel turned, his face plastered with disbelief, “Kathie…..” his voice cracked, his words hanging in his throat. “How dare you try to force yourself on her?” Morris yelled, giving Daniel a swift blow. Daniel staggered back but regained his composure, he glared at Morris, his face filled with something darker. “What gives you the nerve to hit me? Are you insane?” He rushed forward, delivering hard punches to Morris’ face. “You mannerless fool. You think you can lay your filthy hands on me and get away freely?” He kept hitting Morris. The people there rushed forward and held Daniel, pulling him away and leaving Morris to spit out in anger. “Leave me! Let me go!” Daniel struggled to break free from the people's grip and he was finally freed after several yells and attempts. “How dare you come to my house and attack me? I will kill you.” Morris moved forward to attack Daniel but Kathie intervened. Morris looked at her unbelievably, “What's this for, Kathie?” He asked. “You don't have to waste your time on a stinky person like him.” Kathie coldly responded, embracing Morris tightly. Daniel's face burned as if a fire was set on his face. “I now stink to you? After everything I did to you? You have chosen to pay me this way?” His voice dripped with emotion. “What is he talking about?” Morris furrowed his eyebrows at Kathie. Kathie hesitantly replied, “Don't take whatever he's saying to heart, baby. He's just been sent to destroy this wonderful day. Can't you see it?” She stepped forward, her face filled with disdain, “Have we ever had any conversation with each other? And what have you done for me?” She asked Daniel coldly. Daniel chuckled bitterly with a frustrated face, “Kathie, why are you pretending like you don't know me? Go ahead and tell everyone that I'm your boyfriend.” He responded, glancing around. Bringing out the silver jewelry, he said, “Look here, your birthday is tomorrow and I bought this for you. Tell them we have been dating for the past two years now.” “Haha. Look at that. That's the cheapest silver necklace. I heard someone buying it yesterday for $40.” One person exclaimed while laughing aloud. “No wonder he's the popular broke campus guy. Haha. A cheap necklace for the popular beauty lady.” Hearing the murmuring, Kathie was overwhelmed with rage. She grabbed the necklace, throwing it to the floor with all her strength which caused it to shatter into tiny pieces, “Get out of my house now!” Morris, on the other hand, was totally looking confused. Kathie had told him about her birthday being tomorrow then how did this wretched guy know it? “Maybe, he's telling the truth but I mustn't let him dare make any move. He doesn't deserve Kathie.” He shook off the thought, stepping forward. “Whatever relationship you had with her is over; I, Orval Morris, the rich guy, want her to be my girlfriend, and so it must be!”Chapter 8 Daniel, although heartbroken but didn't want to escalate the whole thing, looked at Kathie, tears streaming down his eyes, “So, I'm trash to you. You don't know me anymore, right? No problem, but remember this day, you will regret betraying me this way.” “And you, you might be rich but I promise that I'm going to crush you under my feet someday. Trust me, you'll pay heavily.” He said to Morris. “Haha.” Morris laughed mockingly. “You definitely can't! Go and have a bath with good soap first before you can talk to me, okay?” Daniel swallowed hard, his eyes filled with both rage and revenge. Without a word, he turned to leave, but then cruel words hit him that were more than Kathie's betrayal. “Daniel, you can't go from here until you pay me back the $20 note that you borrowed from me to buy the silver necklace.” Victor echoed, after seeing that the necklace was damaged. “What? He even borrowed the money? So, he can't even buy a necklace worth $40 without borrowi
Chapter 9 The nurse immediately brought out the stethoscope, examining Daniel before reassuring the old man, “Don't worry, he'll be alright.” She left. “Dan, ho..how are you doing now?” The old man asked, his voice breaking as he stretched his hand forward, touching Daniel emotionally. Daniel's eyes blinked, his blurry eyes staring around the room before settling on the old man whose face seemed a bit familiar to him but he couldn't recall his face properly. The man was looking extremely wealthy. His outfits and look alone said everything about him. “W—who are you? And where is this place?” Daniel's weak voice came out, trying to get it strong. The man sat beside the bed, his face laced with sorrow. He tried to touch Daniel again, but he dodged. Sighing frustratedly, he replied, “You're in the hospital, son. And I'm your father, just get well soon.” Father? Daniel's heart was swollen in anger. What will his father be doing here after abandoning him for years? And another thi
Chapter 10 Soon the cars arrived at a spacious compound that exuded wealth from every corner of it. Daniel looked through the window, shaking his head in amazement. The inside of the car was also giving him a comfortable zone. “Dad, where is this place?” He asked after the cars stopped and he stepped out. “This is one of my buildings,” Hovsep replied smiling. “Yours? You also own this place?” Daniel asked, shocked. “Yes, just follow me.” He instructed, leading the way while Daniel followed behind, glancing around. The maids began to greet him with respect and he responded politely too. “Please, take him to his room.” Hovsep told one of the maids who nodded and said to Daniel, “Sir, please come with me.” Daniel reluctantly nodded, his gaze fixed on his father's before he followed. Upstairs, the maid twisted the knob of a door, revealing a luxurious spacious room with unlimited items. “This is your room, sir. Please, feel free to make use of anything.” The maid announced.
Chapter 11 The man was startled at the sight of Daniel. Words only couldn't describe how shocked he was to see Daniel there. This man was Nicholas Andrew who Daniel met at Brown's office. “W—what! You?” Nicholas stammered, feeling a lump formed in his throat. Before Daniel could say a word, Nicholas was already on his knees begging. Daniel's father, Hovsep, had already told him about his lost son being found after a long search. And he had instructed him to put Daniel through everything since he was the right-hand man to him. “Young master Hovsep, please, forgive me. Don't hurt me, I beg you. I never knew you were the son of my master. Have mercy on me.” He begged, putting his head to the ground, his tears escalated. A smirk played around Daniel's lips as he glanced down at him, “Oh, you're begging me now because I'm Hovsep's son, right? Have you suddenly forgotten how you almost killed me even after insulting me back then in Mr. Brown's office?” He asked, feeling annoyed. “I'm
Chapter 1 "You lazy ass, be fast with the cleaning! Hurry, go start cleaning the cafeteria, the students will be out soon for breakfast." A man shouted angrily with contempt noticeable on his face. "I'll soon be done, sir. Just give me some minutes." A voice answered. This was Daniel Hovsep, a twenty-three-year-old University student, who had been working different part-time jobs just to save up for a special birthday gift for his girlfriend, Karol Kathie, the school's most popular beautiful girl. Apart from being a delivery and laundry man, Daniel was also a part-time cleaner at Leeds University, where he and his girlfriend were both students. That morning, he woke up around 5 Am to clean the cafeteria. A rivulet of sweat was plastered on his face, showing how long he had been cleaning the whole place. It was already 8 a.m. and he wasn't done cleaning. He was currently cleaning the University cafeteria when students started entering to eat. Placing his face on the ground
Chapter 2 Daniel immediately turned as the loud shout pulled him from his thoughts. It was the man who had employed Daniel and had earlier shouted at him. His name was William Jones, and he was in charge of the University's facilities. Getting up quickly, Daniel wiped his tears in a swift move and pretended as if nothing had happened. “What the hell have you been doing since the morning?” William asked with an angry voice as he approached Daniel with a disdainful look. “Is this how you want to be doing the job?” He shook his head, “It's evident you can't continue.” Khud! Daniel fell to his knees in front of William, and his face grew pale, “Mr. William, please. It's not what you think, I beg you. I was almost through with everything before….” “Just shut up, you good-for-nothing excuse of a guy!” William cut him off angrily without hearing him out. “What kind of excuse do you want to give now? Tell me.” He asked, his tone sharp. “You came to my office begging me to give you
Chapter 3 After an hour's drive, the cab that Daniel was inside came to a stop in front of a luxurious building with a large black gate. This was the Royal Garden Hotel. Daniel stepped out of the car and settled the driver who drove off after receiving his payment. Daniel then turned and stared at the gate. He looked at himself and he didn't mind the wet clothes he was wearing at that moment. With a composed demeanor, even though he was slightly ashamed of what he was putting on, Daniel approached the gate and knocked on it gently before withdrawing his hand, awaiting it to be opened for him. Almost immediately, the gate was opened, revealing the gate guard, who looked at him with an irritated expression. “Good morning, Mr. Daniel.” He just greeted him casually. If not that he knew Daniel to be a worker there, he would have thrown him out without a second thought because his outfits were so dilapidated to the eyes. Daniel noticed how the gate guard was looking at him dis

There was a shocking expression on both Brown's face and the old man's face. The reason why Brown was shocked was that he had always been rude to Daniel, and he had never in any time talked back to him the way he just did. The old man angrily got up from his seat, “How dare you call me an old man? Do you know who you're talking to?” He asked, fuming at Daniel. “Who do you think you are? You just insulted me, and you want me to remain calm?" The old man chuckled, “You don't know me and you dare raise your voice at me? Haha. For your information, I'm Nicholas Andrew, one of the members of the Blackstone Group.” Galp! Daniel was startled. Who in Sandalwood hadn't heard about such a powerful group called Blackstone Group? They were the most powerful and popular company in the whole world, and even com

Chapter 6 “Hello, Lucas Victor…..” Before Daniel could ask his best friend, Victor, what the issue was, Victor broke the shocking news. “I got fired after being beaten up,” Victor said from the other end, trying to steady his voice that was filled with sadness. “What? They beat you up and got you fired because of me?” Guilt washed over Daniel's face, “Let's meet.” *** “Is this what they did to you? How dare they lay their filthy hands on you?” Daniel's blood boiled as he looked at the disfigured face of his friend, Victor. His face was red with bruises and was also swollen as a result of the forceful blows that the men had landed on him. Standing up, Daniel approached Victor, gently touching his face to soften it, “So sorry, Vic. All this happened to you because of me. I'm sorry.” “It was never your fault, Dan.” Victor forced a smile to his face and replied. “But what exactly happened at the office?” He asked. Daniel took back his seat, his face a hint of anguish, “My life
Chapter 5 The three men, without delay, jumped off Victor, whose face was filled with bruises. His jaw had swollen up, causing his mouth to look as if there was something inside of it. His breathing was so fast that everyone there was hearing it. There was a little relief in his voice after the men stopped even though he was in pain. Victor sat up, his hand on his chest, trying to calm his breath. “You're very lucky I was called or you would have paid more than what your friend had taken.” Nicholas stepped forward and said, his expression still cold. He then turned to his bodyguards, “Let's go.” They nodded in synchronization. They were about to leave when Brown rushed forward, “I'm sorry, Mr. Nicholas, for the trouble caused. I sincerely apologized on his behalf.” He said with a heavy heart, his voice laced with emotions. Nicholas looked at him and replied indifferently, “Sorry won't change anything, Brown. Your useless employee almost killed me in your office and you
