CHAPTER SEVENTY-FOUR

Daisy Bernard arrived home from Blue Hill College feeling a deep sense of sorrow and worry. The day's events had left her shaken, and now, to make matters worse, she hadn't heard from her boyfriend, Richmond Wright, for several hours. She tried calling him multiple times, but there was no answer. With each call that went unanswered, her anxiety grew. She couldn't understand why he wasn't picking up or at least texting her back.

And now, the call wasn't even going through.

Sitting on her bed, Daisy felt a wave of despair wash over her. She had already faced public humiliation today, and now the silence from Richmond was making everything worse. She buried her face in her hands, feeling tears welling up. Just as she was about to try calling him again, her phone rang. The screen displayed an unknown number.

Hesitating for a moment, Daisy wiped her eyes and answered the call, her voice shaky. "Hello?"

There was a brief pause before a familiar voice spoke, "Daisy, it's Richmond."
