“What young master!?” Seth questioned manager Howard.

“How can you call this lowly slum dweller 'young master'? Don't be deceived by this conman. He's nothing but a poor and wretched slum dweller.” Seth's frustration was already piled up.

“Are saying I don't know who my Boss is?” Mister Howard questioned with a frown on his face. He was clearly angry at Seth's rambling, but this only excited Clyde more.

'The higher they are, the bigger they fall.'

Clyde felt someone staring at him, he turned around and saw Clarissa's eyes on him. She had this thoughtful expression on her face as if she was finally comprehending all that was happening.

“Your Boss!? What Boss!? Let me elaborate these to you Mister Howard! That man sitting there is the full definition of poverty. If he was rich enough to buy this building, then he won't be living in that shack at the slums!” Seth then turned to Clarissa.

“If he was so rich, it won't be easy for me to get under the pant of his wife! He's so poor that his wife became cheap and it didn't take much for me to get her in my bed! How can someone who can't even take care of his wife be so rich!?” Seth said with a sneer. He was in so much rage and determined to proof he was right that he even dragged Clarissa down with him.

Clyde couldn't stop the smile that appeared on his face. All who saw him knew for a fact that he was enjoying a show. Clarissa couldn't hide her shame and tears rolled from her eyes. She couldn't believe that Seth would disgrace her in such a way.

“What a disgusting man, he took advantage of the poor woman and used her the way he wished.”

“Serves her right, she should have stayed with her husband no matter what.”

“But is it true that the plain clothed man seated there is so rich? If he is, then doesn't that mean he's wicked as to not take care of his wife.”

So many comments flew around the lobby, but Clyde wasn't bothered by it in any way. The smile on his face only grew wider.

“You should be ashamed of yourself! Taking advantage of a defenseless woman, and you're proud of yourself. I should have the security throw you out.” the manager said and was about to call security when Clyde stood up.

“Don't bother Howard. Go get me the records of the previous manager, I wish to go through it.” Clyde said casually and waved Howard aside.

“Yes young master Clyde.” Howard bowed in a respectful manner and hurried away.

Clarissa saw this and then knew for a fact that this wasn't an act. She also had her fair share of wealth and power, and she knows genuine respect when she sees one. She had spotted it when that lady driving the Cybertruck limo came, at that time she thought the lady was an actress, but now, she knew it wasn't an act.

'Didn't Clyde tell me that he had a surprise for me that will bring shock to me? What if?.. what if Clyde wasn't who he said he was? What if he was secretly a big shot who chose the life of simplicity like in the light novels?'

As she stood there mulling on all these, the words Clyde had said to her the previous day came flooding into her head.

“Clarissa, please try to understand, it will be alright soon.”

“Clarissa please wait till tomorrow..”

“Clarissa please, I beg of you, please don't go. Tomorrow is our anniversary, I have prepared something for you. I guarantee you'd be surprised. Trust me on this one love, it is the kind of surprise you've been waiting for.”

And how had she answered him?

“Clyde! I'm deadbeat tired of all these!? I can't keep living like this! It's frustrating, you hear!?”

“No! I want a divorce, and I want it now!”

“Clyde, I'm not happy at all. We are broke now? Your salary isn't even enough to pay the rent, I can't put up with this anymore!”

“Tomorrow, next week, next year, what difference does it make!?”

“I'm leaving Clyde. Let's face it, nothing good is ever going to come out from you, and I don't want to live the rest of my life in regrets just because I love you and I'm married to you. I can't put up with this shitty life anymore.”

“Surprise? Of course I will be surprised? You know why? Because you might cobble up a few trash and bring it forth as a gift!”

As she thought all these, fresh tears streamed down her cheek. She knew in her heart that Clyde truly loved her, and he never wanted a divorce, and when he tried to stop her.. how did she reply him?

“Clyde Tresslar! If you don't get your stinking hands off me, I will make sure to tell everyone here how trashy you are!”

At that moment all the shame, embarrassment and disgust materialized in front of her and she burst out crying.

Clyde turned to her to see her in tears as she stared at him pleadingly. His heart almost broke at the thought that he had caused the woman he love to shed tears of pain. But then thinking back to all she had done to him, he steeled his heart and looked away. Right then Howard returned with a big ledger that contained the financial records of the company.

“Young master Clyde Sir, here it is.” Howard said as he gently handed the ledger to Clyde. Clyde simply nodded in acknowledgement and took the ledger, he went through it and then turned to Seth.

“It seems your you and your father embezzled a whole lot of money. This can get you a couple years in jail.” Clyde glanced back at the ledger and then to Seth.

“Clean up your office, I want you off my company in the next five minutes or I will have security throw you out.” Clyde said and smiled at Seth.

There's a saying, the higher the throne, the greater the opposition. Seth knew one truth about power: Every throne invites opposition. Enemies lurked in every shadow, families lie in wait for the heirs of the throne to falter. A single misstep could bring an entire dynasty crashing down. The Darkfang dynasty was no exception. The Kylain family, sworn enemies of the Darkfangs for generations, had long vied for the Zizou throne. Their power rivaled the Darkfangs', with family members entrenched in the empire’s military ranks, weaving quiet, sinister schemes. The two families' rivalry had left a trail of blood and betrayal, but today, Seth Mandeep was about to cross enemy lines—not for conquest, but for alliance. He stood before the towers of the mighty Kylain dynasty. The gates were monumental, a fortress of iron, brass, and steel. They were impenetrable to anyone without the proper validation, and even if someone managed to breach them, the sprawling security network of guards a
