Chapter 40

Once they were alone, Ruby sat down next to Derrick's bed and took his hand in hers. "How are you feeling?" she asked gently.

“Tired," he replied, his voice weak. "But I'm glad to be here with you."

She smiled, and she could see that he was trying to put on a brave face. She knew that the road to recovery would be long and difficult, but she was determined to help him every step of the way.

As Ruby walked into the interrogation room, she was filled with a sense of unease. She sat down in the chair across from the investigator and took a deep breath. The investigator began by asking her to recount everything that had happened, from the moment she had boarded the plane to the moment she had escaped.

Ruby told her story in as much detail as she could, leaving nothing out. The investigator asked her if she had any idea who could have been behind the hijacking, and she shook her head. She had no idea who would want to hurt her like this.
