Chapter 55

Derrick walked down the street, his mind racing. He had nowhere to go, and no one to turn to. He felt lost and alone, like he was drifting in a sea of uncertainty. The sun was beginning to set, and he knew he needed to find somewhere to spend the night.

He turned down an alleyway, and saw a small, shabby looking building. It looked like it had been abandoned for a long time, but he decided to take a chance. He pushed open the door, and entered the dark, musty room.

As his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he could make out the outlines of furniture and objects. It looked like someone had once lived here, but it had been long ago. There was a mattress in the corner, and it looked like it might be usable. He made his way over to it, and tested it with his hand. It was a little lumpy, but it was better than sleeping on the floor. He decided to make the best of it, and laid down on the mattress. He closed his eyes, and tried to sleep. But he couldn't stop thinking about his situation.
