Chapter one hundred and ten; it wasn’t about the debt.

Chris paced back and forth in the waiting room, his mind a whirlpool of anxiety and hope. Hours had passed since the surgery began, each minute stretching into an eternity. The hospital's sterile walls seemed to close in on him, amplifying his worry. Finally, a doctor emerged from the operating room, pulling down his mask to reveal a reassuring smile.

"The surgery was successful," the doctor announced. "Your grandmother is in recovery now."

A wave of relief washed over Chris, nearly buckling his knees. "Thank you, doctor. Thank you so much."

The doctor nodded. "She'll need some time to recover, but everything went well. You can see her in a little while once she's settled in her room."
