"Do you find it surprising, kid?" Ray turned to face Alexander, his tone dripping with amusement.

In that very moment, an intense surge of irritation welled up within Alexander. Despite being firmly in his twenties, Ray, who was likely in his forties, had the audacity to refer to him as a "kid." It was a label that grated on his nerves, to say the least.

Ray's smile seemed almost taunting, as if he could read Alexander's inner turmoil. He continued, "Hey kid, Silas and I have a history that goes way back. We're practically age-mates. As for his enduring youth, well, he paid a hefty price for it – a price I wasn't willing to pay. I just don't see the allure in remaining perpetually young."

Headmaster Silas, who was visibly incensed by Ray's unwelcome interference, couldn't contain his anger. He snapped, "Don't think that our acquaintance will deter me from attacking you. Even your own niece sided with that young man."

Alexander's confusion was palpable as he retorted, "Niece?!"
