CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE
Adam kept staring at Cecilia blankly, without saying a word in response to her daughter's yapping.

Adam’s demeanour made Louisa reflect on Williams’ remark of a few nights ago; causing her to wonder if he might have had some sort of backing. He had surely grown some balls from the Adam she once knew. The former Adam wouldn't have dared to threaten her mother.

Cecilia on the other hand could not understand what was going on, and it infuriated her that Adam wasn't cowering on his feet as he ought to, rather he stood unmoving and unflinching
