Silence met him at the end of the call, although he thought he heard Evelyn breathing at the other end, and with the rate his heart was beating against his chest, Adam feared it would erupt, but still he held on,

“Evelyn?" He called out, almost in a broken voice and let out a sigh of relief when he heard Evelyn's voice,

“Sir, sh….she’s awake,” Evelyn said without any preamble, her voice cracking as she spoke.

Adam felt he had heard wrong, and placed his finger into his ear hole, in an attempt to clear off any wax that might be blocking his hearing,

“Huhh…” He muttered slowly, his knees beginning to feel like jelly,

“Sir….Ar…Ari…. Ariel, she’s awake, just now.”

Evelyn informed him tearfully, struggling to deliver the good news despite the tears clogged in her throat, while she spoke Adam's knees buckled and he fell to the ground on his knees, tears flowing freely from his eyes.
