"So, Chris, how have things been with your parents since we last spoke?" Joy inquired, feigning concern while her mind was focused on extracting more information.

Chris sighed, a hint of weariness in his expression. "It's been tough. Since my mother stopped receiving donations for her charities, my father's business isn't doing well, we're facing financial difficulties."

Joy, masking her true feelings with faux sympathy, nodded solemnly. "That sounds really challenging, Chris. I can't imagine what your family is going through."

She took a moment, then subtly shifted the conversation. "But you know, Chris, your mother's actions might be the reason for these hardships. Deceiving people with fake jewelry and running businesses in a shady way—those choices have consequences."
