Chapter 6

"Excuse me? Mrs Harvey? The woman who's allergic to shellfish, owns many charities and attends church regularly?" Billion asked

"Yes" Lord Boulevard answered

"That's not possible. In fact, it doesn't make any sense. There's no way she would submit false documents against anyone, she's not into such activities.

Besides, this accountant of yours has been in your company for so long and I believe he mostly deals with people who have shady businesses and top businessmen and politicians.

So, how is it possible that he came in contact with Mrs Harvey? That woman mostly focuses on her clothing line". Billion explained

"I really do not have the answers to most of your questions, son. But I received a tip from someone and after doing a little research, I discovered it was Charity Harvey who did it, her intentions for trying to incriminate him are still unclear to me.

However, since there's no more evidence, I'm sure he will be released and he'll clarify things for us". Lord Boulevard said

"Also, there's more". He continued. He brought out his phone and showed Billion photos of a visibly angry Charity Harvey and the accountant.

"I cannot believe this. I've always known that woman is a hypocrite, but I never expected this". Billion commented

"There's so much you don't know about people living in Glendalton, son. But first, let's wait until all charges against my accountant are dropped and then, we can find out more things about Charity Harvey".

"Alright father". Billion concurred.

"With that being settled, I wanted to show you the new branch we're setting up. However, you don't seem dressed up for it". Lord Boulevard said, observing the clothes Billion had on.

"You're right, father. I wasn't able to go shopping yesterday, but I was hoping to do that today". Billion said.

Lord Boulevard then instructed his driver to drive them to a boutique.

The driver drove to an exquisite boutique known for its opulent fashion and discerning clientele.

Clad in his simple shirt and a pair of jeans, Billion walked into the boutique with an air of quiet confidence.

The sales representatives, accustomed to attending to well-dressed customers with discerning tastes, glanced at Billion and exchanged subtle smirks. They whispered amongst themselves, their expressions hinting at a belief that he didn't belong in this world of opulence. Their eyes spoke volumes, silently questioning his presence within the boutique.

One of the sales representatives, Victoria, could not resist the urge to confront Billion and express her skepticism. With an air of superiority, she approached him, her voice dripping with condescension.

"Excuse me, sir," she began, her tone laden with disdain. "Are you lost? Perhaps you should consider visiting a thrift store instead. They might have something more suited to your... humble taste."

Billion, unruffled by her snide remarks, turned his gaze towards Victoria. A gentle smile played upon his lips, the kind that held a deep understanding of the world and its intricacies.

"Thank you for your concern," he replied calmly, his voice carrying an air of quiet authority. "However, I'm here to shop, just like any other customer."

With that, he walked off. His confidence left Victoria with nothing to reply.

Billion stood by the clothes rack, his arms laden with the carefully selected garments he had picked out for himself. He had spent a considerable amount of time browsing through the boutique, meticulously choosing each item that spoke to his sense of style.

As Billion made his way toward the payment counter, his eyes focused on the cash register where he would settle his bill, a voice rang out from behind him. "Excuse me, sir," called out Victoria, the sales representative who had been rude to him earlier. "I must ask you to stop right there."

Billion turned around, surprised by the sudden interruption. His eyes met Victoria's gaze, noticing a glimmer of contempt in her expression. "Is there something wrong?" he inquired, trying to maintain his composure.

Yes, there is," Victoria responded, her tone laced with disdain. "You clearly don't belong in our boutique. We cater to a certain clientele, and people like you don't fit that mold."

Billion felt a pang of irritation, but he tried to remain calm. "I have every right to be here," he stated firmly. "I'm a paying customer, just like anyone else."

But Victoria wasn't finished. With a nod, she motioned toward a security guard standing nearby, who stepped forward, casting a formidable presence. "We have reason to believe that you're attempting to steal from us," Victoria accused, her voice dripping with malice.

Billion's eyes widened in disbelief. He knew that he had done nothing wrong, and he was determined not to let these baseless accusations tarnish his reputation. "You are mistaken," he said, his voice tinged with frustration. "I have no intention of stealing anything. I simply want to pay for my purchases and leave."

Before he could take another step, Victoria blocked his path, her face contorted with a mix of anger and contempt. In a shocking display of aggression, she forcefully pushed Billion, causing him to stumble backward. The clothes he held in his arms tumbled to the floor, creating a chaotic mess around him.

Other shoppers turned their heads, their curiosity piqued by the commotion unfolding before them.

He realized that he was being publicly humiliated for no reason other than his appearance.

Billion took a deep breath, summoning every ounce of dignity he possessed. He had made a vow never to let anyone humiliate him again and he had every intention of honoring that vow.

Billion calmly reached into his pocket and retrieved his wallet. He extracted his identification card and held it up, allowing Victoria and the guard to see the emblem of the Boulevard empire and the title of CEO.

Victoria's heart raced as she stood frozen in disbelief, her eyes locked on Billion. The weight of her accusation hung heavily in the air, and the gravity of her mistake was etched onto her face. Shock and fear mingled in her wide, trembling eyes, as the truth unveiled itself with an undeniable force.

She felt her knees weaken beneath her, threatening to buckle as the realization of her grave error settled in.

Beside her, the security guard, who had been a willing accomplice in this terrible misjudgment, stood equally stunned. The color drained from his face, leaving behind a pallid mask of horror.

Beads of sweat formed on his brow, mirroring the turmoil that churned within him. His hands, once firmly planted on his hips, now dropped limply to his sides, his body language a testament to his remorse.

Victoria's voice trembled as she stammered, attempting to form words that would somehow rectify the situation. "I... I'm so sorry," she managed to utter, her voice barely above a whisper.

Each syllable was laced with a mixture of guilt and desperation, her apology a fragile plea for forgiveness.

The words spilled out of Victoria's mouth, each one punctuated by a desperate plea. "I didn't know... I didn't mean to accuse you. Please, forgive me. I had no idea who you were. It was a terrible mistake." Her voice cracked, her words choked with remorse.

The security guard, finding his voice at last, joined in the chorus of apologies. "Sir, I... I should have verified... I am truly sorry. We both are. We had no idea." His voice quivered with regret, his eyes cast downward, unable to meet Billion's gaze.

"Pick up these clothes". Billion instructed and without hesitation, Victoria and the security guard complied.

He then walked up to the counter and paid for them, Victoria tried to apologise again but he asked her not to bother, he left with a warning that he would be back.

After spending a long day with his father, Billion returned back to the Brown's residence.

Billion was surprised to find his suitcase at the gate and Joshua Brown, together with his wife and Stella, were standing there.

"What's going on?". He asked.

"You've decided to be useless and roam about all day. You've taken our hospitality for granted and we will no longer condone it. Take your things and never return here". Joshua Brown said.

"Stella, what's the meaning of…" before he could finish that question, Stella interjected him.

"Don't you think I deserve better?". She asked

"Stella, you have no idea what you're saying. You cheated on me…" once again, Billion was interjected.

His mother in law raised her hands to slap him but Billion quickly grabbed it.

"Don't you ever raise your hands at me again!". He yelled and flung her hand away.

"You will all pay for this!". H said.

The family was in shock, they had no idea where Billion's new found confidence emanated from.

Without replying, the family went inside. Not long after, it started to rain and with one phone call, an SUV came to pick Billion.

"Goodbye Billion Everest". Billion said internally as the driver drove off to the Boulevard mansion.
