The next morning.

Denver and Catherine sat at the mountain top, at a height of 2100 meters from the ground level, and the sunshine from up there looked infinitely better than both of them had expected.

“I wish we had a house here,” Catherine said, “far from the busy city. It’s peaceful here.”

“This is a wildlife zone, so I don’t think anybody is allowed to build houses here,” Denver opined.

“That’s unfortunate,” Catherine sighed. “Instead of waiting for many years, it would be nice if we can just build a house here with wood.”

Denver was surprised. “Do you really mean it?”

She smiled. “I’m just joking, Silly. While I love the idea of living here, we can’t be going up and down the mountain to get every little thing.”

“Mm…” Denver didn’t say anything.

Had she really asked him to build a house here, he might have already started cutting the trees for wood.

Diane always asked him for this and that, but Catherine never asked him for anything yet.

As they kept talking, Sheryl was watching t

Edward Creamer was on his way to the hospital. He smoked five cigars in the last twenty minutes. He hadn’t looked this worried in a long while.“Why did this fool go to her home again?” Edward appeared angry and frustrated. “I told him plenty of times to not even think of marrying a beautiful woman. The more attractive a woman is, the more boyfriends she’ll have. It’s better to just fuck them and then marry a less attractive girl.”Edward was speaking from experience. His ex-wife had cheated on him multiple times with multiple boyfriends, both before and after marriage. If the DNA test back then didn’t show that Stephen was his own flesh and blood, Edward would have given her a horrible death, which in his world would mean something like being eaten alive by the fish at the bottom of a big aquarium.Soon, Edward reached the hospital. The doctor came out to greet him.“How is my son?” Edward grabbed the doctor’s collar. “He better not be dead, or I’ll have a hundred thousand fish feed

It was late morning when Edward arrived at Diane’s house.Holding the gun in his hand, Edward looked at the house. The door was open. He could enter the building if he wanted to, but he didn’t enter that house.Instead, he went to the neighbor’s house. There was an adult brown rottweiler, Payne, outside on the lawn, and it roared as Edward approached the gate.It wasn't a bark, not a growl, but a full-throated shriek that sounded like a demon being flayed alive.Passersby would clutch their chests; mothers would scoop up their children, and even the most hardened teenagers would quicken their pace, glancing fearfully at the house. Payne’s screams were a force of nature, a sonic weapon designed to pierce the ears, chill the bones, and keep the world at bay. However, Edward didn't flinch, didn't falter, didn't even break stride. It was as if the dog’s screams washed over him, like a wave crashing against a rock, leaving him entirely unaffected. His gaze was fixed on the dog as a predato

In bloody clothes, Denver and Catherine had to walk the whole mountain down as no helpers arrived. So, Sheryl’s help proved to be truly invaluable.Catherine noticed that Denver was bringing the kitchen knife with him.“Why are you bringing that knife along?” she asked. “I don’t think any bear will attack us here.”“I stabbed the bear with this. I’m going to keep this as a memento—”“And remember that horrifying incident whenever you see it?”“Y-Yeah. Pretty much.”“Why would you want to get reminded of that? Is it just you, or are all men like this? Loving to keep stupid things for stupid reasons.”Denver looked at her blood shirt. “C-Can I keep your shirt?”“You want this as a memento, too? No! I’m going to dump this in a trash can since it’s covered in blood, and trash is where it belongs,” Catherine sounded certain about it.They booked a room at a small hotel by the base of the mountain.Catherine changed her clothes, but when she was about to toss her bloody clothes in the trash

Despite her age, she had all her teeth intact.“Did you meet him?” she asked.Drake nodded and tried to grab a sugarcane stick. But she slapped his hand away. “How was he?”“He’s good in some ways and clumsy in other ways, ma’am,” Drake replied, “but he seems motivated to get his hands on the secret treasure.”“In the past five years, the kettles of the top rankers have grown in strength by sweeping all the treasures from the caves,” she said. “They are growing stronger than the penal hall. The balance of power is shifting, and the biggest troublemaker among the rankers just has to arrive now.”“Whom do you prefer as the next king?” Drake curiously asked.“I prefer the one His Majesty chooses,” she replied.“Being diplomatic again,” Drake tried to grab the sugarcane stick again, but she slapped his hand away once more. The twelve-feet tall open mouth of the monstrous serpent broke the wall into bits and zoomed in Denver from behind. He didn’t even look back.Placing his hand behind his back, he released a burst of red lightning that destroyed not just the blocks of the wall that were still in the air but also the serpent’s head. The snake lost half of its head, but it was still wriggling about, its head regenerating at a visible pace.“What the hell?” Alex was baffled. “How can it still be alive after half of its head is gone?”“The nanobots are healing it, I suppose,” Sheryl said. “We have to find the crystal chip that’s somewhere in its body. If we destroy that chip, then the snake won’t be able to regenerate.”“But where’s that chip?” Alex asked. “How will we know?”“I’m afraid my aura is not skillful enough to enter other people’s bodies and check them,” Sheryl responded. “That’s something medics are good at. I’m neither a medic nor a master aura user.”“Then we have to destroy the entirety of t

He still quickly recovered and pressed the red button.A big missile dropped, but then it didn’t go the way he intended it to.Rather, it started to float and went under Mickey’s feet. A few minutes later.Denver sat down on a broken rock, with Catherine sitting next to him.She was awake and was staring at Drake who was talking with Sheryl in the distance. “Who is he exactly?”“Don’t think too much,” Denver touched her neck to feel her temperature. “Are you feeling okay now?”“Yeah,” Catherine loved seeing the worry on his face. She quickly gave him a kiss.Seeing that, Alex’s eyes turned a little wider.Denver was feeling hot inside because of having to push himself to fight Drake, but Catherine’s kiss surprisingly made him feel better. It was just a simple kiss, but it was priceless to him.At the same time, he was wondering if he should tell Catherine about his past. After thinking about it, he said, “Cat, I might have killed some people in the past.”“Okay. So?”“Even women.”“So?” Catherine didn’t seem upset about it. “Don’t tell me you killed children, too?”“I don’t think so, but I don’t know,” Denver hesitantly said. “My memories are slowly coming back, but

I can’t believe I took the bait. Forget about getting a treasure, if he wants to make things difficult for us…) “What are you doing here, Penal Master?” she asked aloud.Drake wasn’t even looking at Sheryl. His gaze was on the tallest man. “Don Denver… you broke the code and went on a personal mission for three years.”“And the king has already stripped him of his rank,” Sheryl was quick to reply. “There’s nothing more for you to add to the king’s decree… unless you’re siding with one of the rankers and are taking their side, which means you are not fit to be the head of the penal hall since that position requires you to be neutral.”She had to talk provocatively in order to grab his attention.“Green Fang…” Drake’s eyes turned darker. “You didn’t stop your boss from leaving, so you should receive punishment as well.”“

If those jackals are smart, they’ll know whom to pick a fight with and whom to not!”She released aura through her body, which was barely felt by Alex, and it also made the light flicker. However, the jackals which were closing in suddenly stopped. After sensing the aura, they were hesitant at first.Sheryl released more aura in the direction of the jackals, and they all turned and ran away.“The red eyes are gone,” Alex was quite surprised. “I’ve never seen those beasts retreat without even putting up a fight.
