It was late morning when Edward arrived at Diane’s house.

Holding the gun in his hand, Edward looked at the house. The door was open. He could enter the building if he wanted to, but he didn’t enter that house.

Instead, he went to the neighbor’s house.

There was an adult brown rottweiler, Payne, outside on the lawn, and it roared as Edward approached the gate.

It wasn't a bark, not a growl, but a full-throated shriek that sounded like a demon being flayed alive.

Passersby would clutch their chests; mothers would scoop up their children, and even the most hardened teenagers would quicken their pace, glancing fearfully at the house. Payne’s screams were a force of nature, a sonic weapon designed to pierce the ears, chill the bones, and keep the world at bay.

However, Edward didn't flinch, didn't falter, didn't even break stride.

It was as if the dog’s screams washed over him, like a wave crashing against a rock, leaving him entirely unaffected.

His gaze was fixed on the dog as a predato

I’m going to keep this as a memento—”“And remember that horrifying incident whenever you see it?”“Y-Yeah. Pretty much.”“Why would you want to get reminded of that? Is it just you, or are all men like this? Loving to keep stupid things for stupid reasons.”Denver looked at her blood shirt. “C-Can I keep your shirt?”“You want this as a memento, too? No! I’m going to dump this in a trash can since it’s covered in blood, and trash is where it belongs,” Catherine sounded certain about it.They booked a room at a small hotel by the base of the mountain.Catherine changed her clothes, but when she was about to toss her bloody clothes in the trash

Edward Creamer, after dealing with the devious dog and its owner, chose to enter Diane’s house.Subrina was in the hall, sitting nervously as if she was waiting for him. “Welcome, Mr. Edward,” she came and greeted him. “This is our first time meeting, isn’t it? Diane told me so much about you.”Even though she put her hand forward, he didn’t shake her hand.He just went and sat on the couch. “I came here to thank you for calling the ambulance and helping my son.”Subrina smiled in relief. “I did something anyone would do.”“Not everyone will do what you did, though,” Edward stated. “I appreciate what you did, but why didn’t you stay with my son in the hospital?”Subrina was startled. “Uh, about that…” She couldn’t just tell Edward that she was going on a date with Peter Mason.“Your husband died, and you’re dressed up for some occasion,” Edward voiced his mind. “Are you seeing someone?”Subrina frowned. “Are you suggesting I should still mourn for Richard even though he died many mont

After Edward left, Diane entered the house.Subrina saw her daughter and squinted her eyes. “Where did you go?”“Just to meet a friend,” Diane said and was going upstairs.“Wait, why the hell did you record my conversation with Catherine?” Subrina asked aloud. “What were you thinking? Were you trying to use it against me later on?”“I was recording it for fun, Mom. Don’t think too much,” Diane said.“Tsk, you heard what Stephen’s dad said, didn’t you?” Subrina got up from the couch. “Just forget about Stephen before things get worse for us. They are gangsters. If they decide to snatch this house from us, what can we do? Even the courts and police support them. We’ll be brought to the streets.”“I’m aware of that, and I’ll never let such a thing happen, so don’t worry,” Diane said and then went to her room.Despite what Diane said, Subrina couldn’t trust her daughter’s words. “I can’t waste my time here. Peter Mason would be waiting for me now.”Subrina hurriedly left the house and saw

What happened?” Catherine looked back and asked.Sheryl kicked the door next to her and sent it flying. She got out.Seeing her, Denver and Catherine also got out.“Run away from the car!” Sheryl shouted as she ran away.Denver, however, heard a noise from the sky. He didn’t even look up. He just jumped across the car and hugged Catherine. It all happened so fast that both Denver and Catherine didn’t quite know what was happening.Just then, the missile came down and struck the car, causing a great explosion that shattered the glasses and sent many objects flying.Catherine and Denver were both blown back because of the shockwave. The knife Denver had brought with him also flew out of the car and flew toward Denver’s head, but Sheryl appeared in a flash and deflected the knife with her bare hand. However, when she turned back, she saw t

This is war!”Just then, two assassins burst through the ceiling. One attacked Sheryl while the other one attacked Denver.Sheryl managed to duck from a cleaving attack and then stabbed the assassin from behind with her bare hand. She was able to pierce through his body with ease. “Who sent you? Was it Tyron?”“You will die soon, bitch,” the assassin blurted.“Yeah, I hear that often,” Sheryl pulled her hand out, and the assassin coll

Good or bad. But the problem is that we don’t know who the culprit behind these assassins is. They belong to your sixth brother Tyron, but Tyron could easily say that a few of his men acted on their own.”“I noticed that they had the gun and ax symbol,” Denver pointed out, staring at his bloody palm, frowning a little. “That’s what the officer also had when he tried to shoot me a few days back.”“An officer tried to shoot you?” Catherine was shocked. Release me, and I’ll make you rich. I’ll give you a million dollars. Even more if you beat the shit out of Lark.”“I’m afraid I’m not strong enough to beat him,” Alex replied.“You still haven’t answered my question, Madam Minerva,” Lark said. “Did any man ever buy you flowers?”“I don’t have time for dating. I barely left Hawk Park before. And I’m satisfied with my current life,” she said.“You’re already in your thirties, so when are you going to get married? Clearly, your mom doesn’t seem to care about you, or maybe she’s purposely making sure that you’d never get married.”“Stop spouting bullshit,” Minerva growled. “My

You mean, regular monsters or abnormal ones like in the caves?” Alex quickly asked.“Oh, what you’ve seen in the caves is little,” Sheryl smirked. “The serpent lord was originally a sea monster which later settled in this region.”Alex’s eyes widened. “So it was fighting on the ground where it was weakest?”“Mm, in the sea, it would be harder to fight it I suppose,” Sheryl did not have much experience fight

Who was it?”“Green Fang. She didn’t let our men conduct an investigation in the Nameless Zone.”“Green Fang…” Drake frowned. “She might have acquired Green Queen’s ability, but for her to have defeated Gordon, this is completely unexpected.”Drake thought Gordon would be enough to put pressure on Denver. After all, attacking the penal hall’s vice commander would bring a bad reputation to him.Using this excuses, more troops could be deployed to deal with Denver. But now, not Denver but only his subordinate managed to kill the vice commander? This was a pretty embarrassing result for the Penal Hall, especially for Drake as he was the one who ordered Gordon to go and bring Denver in chains.Of course, he was ordered by N

He couldn’t hide the pain and discomfort anymore. His body couldn’t fully absorb the shock of the opponent’s attack so his shoulders, elbows and wrist hurt like hell.Lark couldn’t even freely lift them anymore, w
