Lark left the wedding hall, chewing a bubble gum to mask off the wine smell.

“Sorry, Mom,” he looked at a picture in his purse. It was an old, unclear picture of him as a young boy with his mother next to him. “I’m trying to quit alcohol, but I’m unable to do it. But I promise you, I will not marry until I quit all my bad habits.”

After putting the purse back in his pocket, he looked at his fist.

He remembered the time he threw a punch at Denver.

“I was planning on breaking his nose with that punch,” Lark muttered under his breath and smirked. “He shouldn’t even have been able to see it coming, but he didn’t just see it but also reacted to it. His body, at least, is not in a poor state. If the problem is only with his mind, then… everything becomes more unpredictable.”

He faintly smiled.

“This is certainly interesting.”

Meanwhile, inside the wedding hall.

“What suddenly changed?” Denver asked Peter while looking at the item in Peter’s hand. “Did the check you received from him change

“Mom, let’s see the results first. Until then, I’m not saying a word against Denver, much less live away from him,” Catherine replied in a calm but firm voice.“Tsk,” Subrina felt like beating her daughter. “If you weren’t an adult now, I would have beaten some sense into you!”“If you weren’t my mom, I would have long broken your nose, too,” Catherine said, shocking her mother.“Y-You… You’ve grown bold after your dad died.”“Yeah. I’ve been living with my own strength for the past two years,” Catherine stated. “It helped me see the world in a whole different light. I’m not saying it was a good thing that Dad died, but I’ve learned a lot through hardships.”“Hmph, all you did was maintain that shitty pool, and you call that hardship?” Subrina mocked her.Catherine found it difficult to maintain her calm. “You don’t know how many people threatened me to sell that land for a cheaper price. Even the likes of Peter Mason have their eyes on that land, Mom. Right now, it may not be worth m

Catherine came straight to the wedding hall.Subrina was putting makeup on in a hurry. “Did Peter Mason really invite us to his daughter’s wedding reception?”“He did. I’m afraid he might be planning on taking the pool property,” Catherine frowned. “I have to use this reception as a stage to openly confront him. Maybe, the media channels will catch it and telecast it on their channels.”“Don’t be so foolish. You think the media will publish any bad news on Peter Mason? He’d just buy them off.”“Hmph,” Catherine looked at her mother. “Mom, you look like a clown. Why are you putting on so much makeup? Are you planning on seducing Peter Mason or what?”Subrina paused for a second. “W-Why didn’t I think of that? That’s a good idea.”“Ugh,” Catherine kept shaking her head. “You’re unbelievable.”“It’s been so long since your father died, and I don’t want to live my old age alone,” Subrina said, “so what’s wrong with me trying to catch a big fish?”“Peter Mason is a billionaire, Mom. “Is she really your mother?” Peter asked Catherine. She couldn’t tell if he was joking or not.But why would someone like him even need to joke with Catherine?“Yes, she is my mom,” Catherine calmly replied, not at all smiling. While Catherine could admit her mother looked good for her age, she wasn’t as good-looking as how Peter reacted.“I didn’t know you had such a beautiful mother, Catherine,” Peter was smiling at Subrina, and Subrina was smiling back at him.Catherine just couldn’t watch it already. “Ahem, so why did you ask me to come here, Mr. Peter? Won’t we just be wasting your precious time?”“Actually,” Peter said in a low voice, “let’s talk about it on the side.”Peter then took them to a corner and briefly told them what happened, excluding some humiliating details, of course.“A-Are you speaking the truth?” Catherine found it quite hard to believe.Denver fought against a dozen guards and won?She felt more angry than happy because he did such a risky thing even though i

“I did my masters in business in Oxford. I will soon earn millions of yearly revenue,” Joseph said. “Is your boyfriend better than me?”He was oozing confidence.“I’m aware that business interviews require a resume,” Catherine said, “but the dating world also requires them these days, huh. Then I’m afraid I’m not a good match for you. I’m just a poor girl.”“That’s not an issue. Society expects men to be successful and women to be beautiful,” Joseph was still smiling confidently. “So, I think we’re a good match.”“So, you’ll be okay with living with a woman who dumps her boyfriend because someone richer has entered her life?” Catherine asked him back. “So, in the future, if someone richer than you shows up and seeks my hand, then… you won’t mind if I leave with him, right?”Joseph’s smile hit a brake. “Don’t you think you’re overestimating yourself?”“You picked the words right out of my mouth, Mr. Joseph Mason,” Catherine was still polite with him as much as possible. “If you think

Joseph grabbed Catherine by the arm and turned her with just enough force to make her face him.Ignoring that she was holding a food plate, he went in for a quick kiss.Catherine’s instinct kicked in so fast her head moved back before shock surfaced upon her visage.Catherine’s arms lifted up with force, and the food on the plate fell in Joseph’s face. “What the hell is wrong with you?”Joseph was very shocked. And so was the crowd, not knowing exactly why the food was on Joseph’s face and clothes.Catherine looked annoyed and upset. It was all thanks to her neck’s agility that she was able to move her head back, or she would have been kissed by this man when there were so many eyes around.Joseph’s expression hardened.“Son, what happened?” Peter rushed over.Subrina saw Catherine next to Joseph and thought she might have done something. Her heart started racing at the thought that what Catherine did might just ruin the positive vibe she had going with Peter.“We collided, Dad. It wa

It was a resounding slap.Catherine didn’t seem as surprised as she was hurt by the slap.Even though Catherine had seen her mother’s hand coming, she didn’t evade.Nevertheless, her eyes turned teary. “Thank you… Mom,” her voice cracked.Subrina’s eyes were red, but her arm was shaking. She was already regretting what she had done.“I definitely deserved this for talking back against you,” Catherine said. “As long as I’m in line with you, I’m a good daughter, but when my words don’t align with yours, then I’m the useless one. Thank you for not disappointing me. I’m certain now. You will never change.”Catherine entered the car and drove away without her mother.Subrina couldn’t even tell her daughter to wait for her. No words came out of her mouth right now.Sia was watching all this from the entrance, and she looked shocked. “Catherine’s mom is crazier than her. How can she slap a grown daughter like that? Is Catherine going to complain to Denver and have him beat her mother?”She w

Catherine came to her apartment, driving fast. Her renovated car made it possible for her to drive fast and let out some fumes. She parked the car inside, but then she saw Denver working, filling up the cracks on the pillars and walls.“What are you doing?” she asked, looking genuinely confused.“I asked him to do it,” Layla, the apartment’s guard, came over to them quickly with a big smile on her face. “I heard that your boyfriend is a construction worker, so I thought he could make the apartment look better just like he made your car better.”“Uh, okay,” Catherine took it casually. “As long as he gets paid for his work, I don’t mind it. How much do you charge per hour, Denver?”“Thirty to fifty depending on the work,” Denver said. “But since it’s for our apartment, I’ll only charge twenty dollars.”“Actually, I’m not going to pay the hourly wages,” Layla scratched her jaw.“What?” Catherine was shocked.Even Denver looked just as shocked. He thought Layla was automatically going to

Denver was skillfully applying cement to the cracks, and he was on a flow. But he suddenly stopped because he saw something in one of those cracks. There were small white things. At first he didn’t think much, but then he used to brush to pull those white things out of the cracks.Upon observing them, he realized that they were lizard eggs. They were so tiny they looked adorable.Denver wondered what he should do with them. If he were to put these back in the cracks, then he wouldn’t be able to seal the crack. But if he were to put them outside, these eggs would probably crack. And the mother lizard was nowhere to be seen. After some thinking, Denver decided to leave some part of the cracks open and put the eggs back in there.Just as he was putting the eggs, Layla came from behind and grabbed his biceps. “Are these real?”The eggs almost fell from his palm. “Whoa, be careful.”“Mm? What’s wrong?”“There are lizard eggs in my hand. They could have fallen to the ground.”“Oh, I’m sorry

Despite her age, she had all her teeth intact.“Did you meet him?” she asked.Drake nodded and tried to grab a sugarcane stick. But she slapped his hand away. “How was he?”“He’s good in some ways and clumsy in other ways, ma’am,” Drake replied, “but he seems motivated to get his hands on the secret treasure.”“In the past five years, the kettles of the top rankers have grown in strength by sweeping all the treasures from the caves,” she said. “They are growing stronger than the penal hall. The balance of power is shifting, and the biggest troublemaker among the rankers just has to arrive now.”“Whom do you prefer as the next king?” Drake curiously asked.“I prefer the one His Majesty chooses,” she replied.“Being diplomatic again,” Drake tried to grab the sugarcane stick again, but she slapped his hand away once more. If we destroy that chip, then the snake won’t be able to regenerate.”“But where’s that chip?” Alex asked. “How will we know?”“I’m afraid my aura is not skillful enough to enter other people’s bodies and check them,” Sheryl responded. “That’s something medics are good at. I’m neither a medic nor a master aura user.”“Then we have to destroy the entirety of t

He still quickly recovered and pressed the red button.A big missile dropped, but then it didn’t go the way he intended it to.Rather, it started to float and went under Mickey’s feet. She quickly gave him a kiss.Seeing that, Alex’s eyes turned a little wider.Denver was feeling hot inside because of having to push himself to fight Drake, but Catherine’s kiss surprisingly made him feel better. It was just a simple kiss, but it was priceless to him.At the same time, he was wondering if he should tell Catherine about his past. After thinking about it, he said, “Cat, I might have killed some people in the past.”“Okay. So?”“Even women.”“So?” Catherine didn’t seem upset about it. “Don’t tell me you killed children, too?”“I don’t think so, but I don’t know,” Denver hesitantly said. “My memories are slowly coming back, but

His gaze was on the tallest man. “Don Denver… you broke the code and went on a personal mission for three years.”“And the king has already stripped him of his rank,” Sheryl was quick to reply. “There’s nothing more for you to add to the king’s decree… unless you’re siding with one of the rankers and are taking their side, which means you are not fit to be the head of the penal hall since that position requires you to be neutral.”She had to talk provocatively in order to grab his attention.“Green Fang…” Drake’s eyes turned darker. “You didn’t stop your boss from leaving, so you should receive punishment as well.”“

After sensing the aura, they were hesitant at first.Sheryl released more aura in the direction of the jackals, and they all turned and ran away.“The red eyes are gone,” Alex was quite surprised. “I’ve never seen those beasts retreat without even putting up a fight.
