Mia rushed to the door but Bryan had already slammed it shut and he didn't open no matter how much she knocked. "Come on, Bryan, please, my mum is the one that invited him over, it had nothing to do with me. Please open the door," she begged.

"Your food will get cold, go back and entertain your guest," he replied coldly. Mia sighed and went back to the dining room. Freda was still smiling at their guest as she served him a new bottle of wine from their latest stock. "Can I speak with you, mum?" Claire asked as nicely as she could. Freda looked at her oddly and then excused herself from the table. "I'll be back, Arnold, please help yourself to the wine," she said with a wide smile and went off with Claire.

In the hallway, Claire turned to her mother with a deep frown on her face. "Mum, I told you this was a bad idea, I told you Bryan would be back any moment and he shouldn't see that," she said.
