It was 10 in the morning and Juliet didn't see the slightest sight of Robert. Her eyes moved from her desk to the elevator door every minute, wondering when he would walk in. Tired of waiting, she stood up and went in to his office, her eyes searching for anything that would indicate his presence. But there was none. The place was just as she had left it the day before. Her hands rested against her waist in a an akimbo, with a sigh. She walked gently in to the elevator and arrived at the third floor almost immediately. As she walked out of the elevator, her eyes looked in the direction of her old desk, then it moved to the next, which was Hailey's. But Hailey wasn't there, only her bag and a coffee cup indicated her presence. She walked gently to her seat, a smile on her face as she whispered "good morning" to the owners of the eyes which turned in her direction. She stood at Hailey's desk and looked around. Her eyes met that of a female colleague who was standing by the desk of anot
Juliet was beyond shocked. Her bewildered eyes followed Hailey and her companion till she was out of sight. She inhaled sharply as she took some steps forward, stopping in front of the mirror. She looked into it, immediately wiping a tear away before it could even roll down her cheek."What the hell is happening?" She breathed heavily, feeling all sort of emotions. Anger, sadness, loneliness and homesickness. "It's happening again. I really wish my mom was here." She reached in to her pocket for her phone but it was empty. The phone was upstairs, on her desk. "It's okay. Okay? Breathe in..." She paused and took a deep, long breath, her eyes closed. "Breathe out." She exhaled calmly, a sudden rush of relief flowing through her. "You know Mom wouldn't want you feeling sad. Everything will be fine, okay?" She smiled and nodded slowly. "I guess I'll just be on my own from now on." She sighed for the last time and walked out of the restroom, shutting the door behind her.As Juliet got clos
"Oh my! I feel so full." Robert exclaimed as he put his hands on his waist, stretching at the same time. Liam laughed calmly, shaking his head as he watched his friend. "So where are you headed from here? I could take you." Robert continued, finally resting his weight on the car."Nah. Don't worry. You're really busy so I can't put you through all that stress. I'll be fine. How about you? Going home from here right?""Yeah, sure. I need to be prepared for when the cops return. Then, maybe after that I'll have some rest. And I'm taking your advice too." As Robert stopped, Liam looked up at him, wondering what he meant. "I'll address the public tomorrow about the issue at hand so my name will be cleared. I can't let this mess with the company. People worked so hard to get it to where it is, my grandfather especially and I'm not going to let him down.""Now, that's the spirit. Dont let their false accusations taint the company's image. Good luck to you, okay? You can call me anytime you
Robert hit his palm against his forehead in frustration, a tired sigh trailing his lips. "This is my fault." He said sharply, his eyes focused on the wall opposite where he was seating."No, Robert. Look, a lot is going on and you're still trying to find your way in this vast world of business. But blaming yourself for your grandfather's medical condition? That doesn't add up. Just let the doctors do their job, okay?"Robert's eyes turned to Liam, a blank look in them as he thought about what Liam had just said. He nodded slowly and sighed, bringing his head down in to his arms, which were folded right above his legs.Raymond looked on with out saying a word, his mind racing a marathon of thoughts, yet he didn't know which to focus on.About thirty minutes later, the nurse who had spoke to Robert earlier, walked out of the room. She seemed to be in rush but Robert wanted answers. He rose from his seat upon seeing her and rushed to her."Please what is going on in there? How is he? He
Everybody froze up at the voice of the staff manager staring at the scene with a disappointed look on his face."I ask again and for the last time, what is going on here?" His voice resounding almost like that of a roaring thunder, his eyes examining each person's face."Umm... I'm really sorry, sir." Juliet started calmly, her eyes to the floor as she nervously rubbed her hands together. A loud and unforgiving sigh escaped Hailey's lips at her opponent's utterance."To my office now!" The manger retorted, his eyes almost tearing Hailey from limb to limb. He turned away at once, his steps hard against the tiled floor. Juliet followed immediately, walking closely behind him as she tried to explain herself."I'm really sorry for the disturbance, sir. It was intended.""I didn't ask you to say a word, Juliet. Wait till we get to the office." At his words, Hailey laughed softly, get very audibly. "Serves you right." She said softly."What did you say?" The manager asked as he turned bac
As Juliet set the phone on the table, a message popped on her screen. She peered down at it as she scanned through the words. And just two words stood out: dinner date. She could already guess who the message was from. She sighed and picked up the phone."Hey, Erick." She started in a calm voice, her head lowering gradually till it was on the desk."Hi Juliet. How are you?" He asked softly, sounding cheerful and enthusiastic."I just saw your text." Her words were unexpectedly bland. Erick noticed."Are you okay? I asked how you were but you said nothing.""You shouldn't worry about me, Erick. I just called to tell you that I can't go on a date with you tonight. I really need to get some rest.""You don't sound okay to me, Juliet. Quit telling me to not worry about you. I care about you and I hope you know that. Just tell me what's wrong." It suddenly felt the weight of the burden she was fighting so hard to ignore was pressing mercilessly against her. She didn't know when tears ran d
Robert stood by the transparent door of the hospital's entrance and watched the downpour. It had suddenly switched from a gentle one to a rather violent and heavy one. He sighed in frustration as he thought about all that was going on. Liam and Raymond could only look at him, pity in each of their eyes. It seemed they couldn't comfort him no matter how much they tried.Just then, a young man of about thirty years walked out of the emergency unit, his hands in his white robe as he strode gracefully. Liam rushed to him immediately."How is he, doctor? He is fine, right?" Liam asked impatiently, eagerly waiting for a reply."Calm down, sir. Calm down. Are you Mr William's son? Or grandsons?" He asked calmly, his eyes moving from Liam to Raymond who stood just closeby. As if Robert heard him speak, he turned and rushed back to where his friend waited. Upon seeing the doctor, he rushed towards him, almost stammering as the questions came pouring in."Is he okay, doc? How is he doing now? C
Robert was alone with his grandfather, watching as the old man's eyes were closed peacefully. From his view, it seemed as if the old man was frowning. Robert's head was down turned, in a manner that would make it seem as though he was staring to the ground, whilst his eyes and entire focus was on the ninety year old man who laid motionless."How could I have ever let this happen to you, Grandfather?" He said to himself, his voice was nothing short of a whisper, a whisper that was seemingly loud because the nurse turned to look at him. But he didn't notice her, or her presence even."I should have never left you alone" he said once more, his fist folded as though he was about going in for a punch. "Why are these things happening now? Now that I am in charge of the company? Why now?" He was not referring his questions to the old man. He was actually talking to himself. His face was grim, he wore a frown, untop of it was a pair of red eyes. All of this gave him a terrible countenance th
