Chapter 3 | Threats

CHAPTER THREE

Listening to what the man, Harry Greenwood had sputtered out of his mouth, Roman decided to ignore him, and glanced at Jennifer coldly.

"Really! You can't even wait for us to be divorce before courting another man. How despicable of you, Jennifer!"

He continued with his heart filled with pain and fury, "For the past three years, I have tried all my best to make you satisfied, but still, you saw me as a loser, a servant in the family.

You have the effrontery to bring your new boyfriend home even without getting divorce. You are the one who has made a mistake, so do not dare to insult me anymore otherwise I would teach you guys a lesson." He concluded, his voice was hinted with utmost anger.

Jennifer was shocked and rendered speechless. She could see how angry Roman looked.

In the past three years, Roman had been so gentle and calm, and never voiced out no matter how pained he was.

Although, She and her mother, Jessica Rodriguez, treated him like a servant, he was not angry with it. How come he has changed drastically?

Harry Greenwood was agitated, he felt Roman was trying to challenge him. He is rich, and the CEO of the Greenwood's Group, he is quite successful, and knew much of the dignitaries while Roman is just an useless son-in-law, who depends on his wife.

How dare he challenge him? How dare he speak to him like that?

Staring contemptuously at him, he decided to teach Roman a lesson. He had studied Korean Taekwondo before, without hesitation he tried to kick Roman in the face.

Swiftly, Roman was alerted, and avoided Harry's kicks in ease. He glared coldly at Harry, and punched him heavily on the stomach.

Harry staggered backward and fell to the ground. He clutched onto his stomach in pain, and gasped for breath. He couldn't even scream as he stared at Roman in bewilderment, and breathed in difficulty.

Jennifer was shocked by Roman's antics, she never knew he was good at combat too. She only sees him as a useless being, and nothing more.

Soon enough, she realized what happened, and shouted at him for hitting her boyfriend, Harry. "How dare you beat up my guest, Roman? I know you are rude, and arrogant, but shouldn't you respect my visitor?" She seethed her teeth angrily at him.

Roman turned to her with an icy expression on his face, "What do you mean? Didn't you see your guest had attacked me first? If you had cautioned your guest, would I have attacked him?" He Bellowed, his voice had risen a little bit.

Jennifer's face flushed in embarrassment, and sneered angrily at him, "Roman, never think you succeed! I promise to make you suffer for what you've done to my guest.

I will make you know I'm not someone you could offend. You will suffer for this humiliation, I promised you that!"

Roman chuckled amusingly, and sneered, "Jennifer, do you really think I will be afraid of your threat? You are welcome to avenge me, and I would truly love to see what you got!"

With that, he left Rodriguez's Villa. Jennifer rushed towards Harry, and picked him up to his feet.

"I'm sorry, Harry! You don't deserve to be in pain like this! You don't have to worry about anything, I will avenge you. The useless boy will definitely hear from me!" She muttered, and comforted Harry, who kept writhing in pain.  "He would really pay the price for hitting you!"

Harry could only nod his head in response. He really wants to avenge too, but he is weak. He had underestimated Roman, if not, he wouldn't have done that.

"I would have to call my brother! He is the only one who can avenge us!" Jennifer mumbled, while she picked up her phone from the bag.

Jessica Rodriguez, on hearing her daughter's words, she bursted into an evil laughter. "What? You really want to call your brother, he might kill him before broad daylight!" Her voice was laced with mockery.

Speaking of Jennifer's brother, Atkinson was a boss of the mafia, and he controlled the nook and cranny of the state. Because of Jennifer's Successful and well-known business, Atkinson had over thirty underlings under him.

He always received money from Jennifer and helped her to deal with the business problem in return.

When he received Jennifer's call, he instantly picked it. Listening to what Jennifer had narrated to him, he smiled evilly, "You don't have to worry about that, Jennifer. I will avenge you! Trust me about this, you will hear about his death tomorrow morning."

Meanwhile, Roman walked out of the Villa, he waited for some minutes before flagging a taxi.

"Grand Pavilion Estate!" He called out his destination, and the driver froze in his seat. He stared at the man in front of his car, and saw how poor he looked, and wondered why he had mentioned the address.

The Grand Pavilion Estate isn't for the poor, the wealthiest families in the country are the only ones that could afford and reside in that Estate.

A house in the Grand Pavilion Estate worths over tens of millions, and even the middle-class family are finding it hard to purchase a land.

What he doesn't understand is what Roman is looking for at the Grand Pavilion, he looks more like a pauper.

The driver snapped out of his daze when he heard Roman clear his throat, "What is going on? Won't you like to be my taximan for now?" He muttered.

Though he understood what the taximan had been thinking about. How could he afford to enter the Grand Pavilion Estate with his poor look.

"$25!" The driver called out his price, and Roman smirked inwardly and said to him, "You don't have to worry about that. In Fact, I will double it!"

He got into the car, and the journey to the Grand Pavilion Estate was going smoothly until Roman's phone rang out.

He frowned slightly, and picked the call, "Who am I speaking with?" He asked in a cold tone.

An old man's voice came up Instantly, asking, "it's going to be seven years since you left the house, when are you going to settle the dispute, and come back to the family. We really need you, Roman! Why are you doing this?"

Roman asked with a cold voice, "Why am I doing this? You needed me to come back? Well, I will when the Lord of the family agrees to punish those who caused my parent's death. Are you ready to do that? If not, I'm not coming back home."

A total silence fell upon them, the old man sighed exasperatedly, "Roman, everything is just a misunderstanding. You've misunderstood everything, you need to come back home as soon as possible."

Roman sneered angrily, "I totally understand. I would go back to the family when it's the right time.  For now, I'm not ready to get back into the family."

The Old man explained, "Roman, the Lord is dying, and the family really needs an Heir, and you are the one that the cap fits. You shouldn't waste any time, and come back home as soon as possible. It won't be better for the Lord to get dead before you return."

Roman was silent for a moment, and began to say, "The Original Cooper Family was dead, and I need some time, and when I'm done with it, then the Cooper Family will be reborn."

"Roman, but…." The Old man tried to protest but Roman interrupted him instantly, "That's my decision, and if you need me in the Cooper Family then you have to accept my decision."

Just then, the car screeched to a halt suddenly, making Roman jump in fright.

Quickly, Roman cut the line, and dipped his phone in his pocket, and looked outside through the side screen.

He frowned deeply as he saw some gangsters had stopped the taxi with dangerous tools in their hands.
