Emily held her breath, realizing it wasn't worth saying anything further as Caleb remained adamant in his determination to continue lying to her face, that he was King.

She wasn't convinced by anything he had said. If she was totally honest, she hadn't wanted to hurt his feelings due to the undeniable friendship bond that had grown between them.

But Caleb had crossed the line, fabricating an unbelievable story and expecting her to take his word for it.

She imagined it would be hard for anyone to believe his words.

She turned to look at Caleb one more time. His face was stony, hiding anything feelings he may have.

She didn't know what to say to him anymore.

His lips were pressed together into a thin line. This was a new Caleb. She hadn't seen him like this in the short time she had known him, and she wasn't sure she liked it.

A little pulse jumped rapidly in his temple. If she had to describe the way he looked, she'd say he was angry.

But why?

He was the one lying.

He hadn't said

Seething with resentment, Kenneth glared at Caleb, who sat obliviously, seemingly without a care in the world. The incident at The Royal Palm Restaurant lingered in Kenneth's mind, and he couldn't shake off the humiliation. The fallout had extended beyond the restaurant, straining his relationship with his father, who hadn't spoken to him since Stephen severed their ties."My Dad hasn't talked to me since Stephen broke his friendship with me!" Kenneth hissed under his breath, Tracy comforting him with a soothing touch on his arm."All because of him. That delivery boy managed to turn the manager against me. I don't know what he said or did to get the manager on his side, but he will regret ever crossing me!" Kenneth fumed, his eyes burning with a fierce determination for revenge."He'll get what's coming to him!" Amanda seethed under her breath.Tracy nodded her head in agreement with her boyfriend's words. She scrunched up her face, fully aware that somewhere along the line, Caleb w

"Boy, don't dawdle. Hurry up. I don't have all day," she ordered, turning her head without a hint of improved mood."Professor Hanks, what did I do? Why are you taking me to the dormitory?"She maintained her silence, marching on, and Caleb's anxiety grew with every step. The journey to the dormitory was filled with tense silence, leaving Caleb perplexed and uneasy."Ma'am, why are we heading towards the dormitory?" Caleb inquired as he followed closely behind."You'll find out soon enough," she replied with a poker face, maintaining her brisk pace toward the dormitory in her high heels.Upon reaching the professor's dormitory, she unlocked the door and headed straight to her bed. Seating herself, she crossed her legs and fixed Caleb with a fierce look.Caleb swallowed the lump in his throat. Whatever she was about to say, it didn't bode well for him. He could sense he was in deep trouble."So, you want to know why I brought you here, especially to my room?" she asked, not once lookin

"I think it was the man who was here before I entered. He must have heard me calling your name and made a run for it. Maybe I startled him with my sudden appearance. I didn't give him the chance before, but later when you were out, he could have come back to steal the underwear," Caleb said as he continued to fabricate his story.Professor Hanks lifted her eyes and looked at Caleb with narrowed eyes. She stared at him for a few minutes, and he couldn't understand what she was thinking. She continued to stare ......."A man....."Here....:"In my dormitory...""Who ran away....""Hmmmm....."Her words, in a tone od disbelief. As if she didn't believe a word of what he just said. There were no words to describe Caleb's feelings at the moment. His nerves were getting the better of him. He wasn't sure if the professor believed him or not.But no matter what, he was innocent. He didn't steal the underwear. Closing the door behind him, Caleb leaned against it and took a few deep breaths, attempting to calm his nerves.Despite inheriting thousands and billions, and his life undergoing a drastic change, there was one thing that hadn't changed —The only thing that he couldn't shake off, was his nerves when faced with Professor Hanks. He couldn't understand what it was about her that always had him on edge. A nervousness that hevfelt deep down to his bones.Taking a few more deep breaths and regaining control over his nerves, he made his way back to class. The bell rang, marking the end of the class, and students began to buzz with conversations, many focusing on Caleb and the missing professor. The discussions took a crude turn:"Class is over, and the professor and Caleb still haven't returned. The students' reactions varied from shock to excitement as they processed the surprising information about King's identity.Caleb thought the same question: "Who was he?""I know most of the students here are wealthy, but not so rich that he can easily spend so much money in rewards in one go... Now, that is unbelievable," one student voiced, expressing skepticism about the financial capacity of their fellow students. The other students nodded in agreement. The revelation about King being a student at their college left them puzzled. "This King guy is very mysterious, even scary if you ask me. Nobody knows anything about him. Ordinary people like us can't even imagine spending that amount of money on a girl we don't even know," Tommy remarked, sharing his perspective on King."I agree, Tommy. A man who can spend millions of dollars on a girl in her broadcast room is definitely no ordinary person," Jake concurred with a smile.Kevin nodded knowingly, "Oh, he's definitely not an ordin

"Caleb...""Caleb..."Feeling a gentle shaking on his arm, Caleb slowly opened his eyes. At first, everything seemed a bit hazy as he looked up at Tommy, who was staring down at him with Jake beside him, wearing a small smile."Caleb, get up. Are you planning on sleeping here till morning? The lecture's over, the professor has left, and so has the rest of the class," Tommy said."Yeah, man, you sleep like the dead. We've been trying to wake you up for the last ten minutes," Jake added.Caleb rubbed his eyes and looked around the now-empty classroom. Indeed, it was deserted, with only the three of them remaining."I can't believe I fell asleep..." Caleb mumbled."Come on, hurry up, we're going to the bar, remember to get some drinks with the girls!" Tommy exclaimed with excitement as he picked up his backpack and pulled it over his shoulders."Jackie is waiting outside the campus for us, and it isn't nice to keep a lady waiting," he added with a huge smile."Ladies, Tommy... Ladies," J

Caleb glanced at Jackie before lowering his eyes to the ground. He hadn't been interested in going to the bar in the first place. His agreement to come was merely to avoid upsetting Tommy or Jake. Besides, Jackie's unwelcoming attitude hinted that her friends might be equally inhospitable. It seemed best for him to leave."Alright.....""Wait a minute!" Tommy finally uttered, stopping them in their tracks.Tommy grabbed Caleb by the arm, wearing a helpless expression.Caleb stopped and turned to look at him.Tommy had invited his friend to the bar for drinks with the hope of introducing him to one of Jackie's friends. He longed for someone to come into Caleb's life, who could see past the poor exterior and appreciate his good heart. Someone who was better than Tracy. If Caleb left, what was the point of going to the bar?Jake forcefully pushed Tommy's hand away, which was still holding onto Caleb's arm."Didn't you just hear what your so-called girlfriend said about our friend? Where are they, and where are you?""There is no handsome guy. He's a good-for-nothing trash, not worth introducing to anyone," Jackie replied harshly, her gaze fixed on Caleb with hatred in her eyes."Good for nothing trash. What are you talking about, Jackie?" Suzie asked in a puzzled tone."Don't ask...anyways, today's plan has been canceled, so I'm heading towards my dormitory. Why don't you guys come over?" Jackie replied with a sigh as she took another look at Tommy."What?! What do you mean canceled? Are you kidding me right now? Do you know how packed this bar is right now? But Alice and I managed to get a table, and we've ordered wine! You just can't change plans last minute, Jackie!" Carl, noticing Caleb's unwavering calm, smirked and turned to Mr. Henderson. "Here's the proof, sir. Now it's up to you how you deal with this thief." Mr. Henderson glanced at Professor Hanks, who was staring at Caleb in shock, unable to reconcile the calm student with the accusations against him. Mr. Henderson nodded and said, "I can't believe after all this time we've actually caught the thief red-handed. Caleb, come with me to the staffroom. We will discuss further what we should do with you with the rest of the staff." Hearing Mr. Henderson's words, some students nodded in agreement, murmuring among themselves that Caleb should be punished. The accusation seemed to fit with the recent rumors and suspicions. The students stared at Caleb with disgust, their eyes shifting between him and the pouch on his desk. Whispers and pointed fingers only deepened the collective disdain. Many had always harbored suspicions about Caleb, simply because he was poor. Yet, in the last few months, something had changed. Caleb had started spending money freely, treating classmates to dinners in expensive restaurants, flaunting an attitude of newfound confidence. The sudden shift was startling. Now, with Jane's pouch found among his belongings, the students were convinced their suspicions were confirmed. To them, Caleb's recent spending spree must have been funded by stolen money from the college. The atmosphere was thick with judgment, the air filled with murmurs and pointed looks. No one seemed to remember the Caleb who once struggled quietly. Instead, they saw only the image of a thief, their minds made up by the damning evidence before them. "Well, Carl, after an hour, you'll regret what you're doing right now, and you will pay for what you have done." Carl narrowed his eyes at Caleb momentarily and chuckled, muttering under his breath, "Is that a threat?" Caleb didn’t bother to respond, his silence conveying more than words could. Carl shrugged off Caleb's words, confident that they were meaningless. What could a loser like Caleb do anyway? Carl's smirk grew as he unzipped the bag. He knew that as soon as the money was found, there would be no escape for Caleb. The whole class fell silent, the only sound being the slow, deliberate zip opening Caleb's bag. Kenneth leaned forward on his desk, casting a quick glance at Tracy, who had a small smirk playing on her lips. They knew that any moment now, their plan would come to fruition. On the other hand, Tommy and Jake watched nervously, their anxiety palpable. But the most anxious of all was Jane, the class monitor. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was

He instinctively slid his hands into his pockets, a subtle gesture to calm his nerves. His gaze shifted towards Carl once more, observing the smug confidence etched on his face. It was becoming clear to Caleb that Carl wasn't acting on mere suspicion but had orchestrated this accusation deliberately. The reason for Carl's unwavering confidence in Caleb's guilt pointed to a calculated plan. As Caleb pondered Carl's motives, his eyes flickered briefly to his desk where his bag lay discarded underneath. He couldn't shake the sinking feeling that the money, the very evidence Carl was banking on finding, might have already been planted there. A surge of frustration and anger welled up within him, but he maintained his composure outwardly, preparing to address Professor Hanks and the rest of the class with clarity and conviction. He had been set up. As his
