“Well, that was weird,” Sean said and Amelia chuckled.

“I am really sorry about that. He can be overprotective, but I guess someone must have really pissed him off for him to have behaved in that manner,” she said as they watched Brock leave the building.

“Anyways, have you met him before?” she asked and Sean raised a brow in confusion.

“Have I met Brock before?” he asked to confirm if that was what she was saying and she nodded.

“Well, I wouldn’t say I have met him before, but yeah, he does look and feel familiar,” Sean said with a shrug. “We might have crossed paths at a number of events, plus I have seen him in a magazine or two, but I wouldn’t say I know him,” Sean explained and shrugged his shoulders.

“Anyways, back to business, I think we have engaged in a little too much small talk,” Sean said, redirecting their conversation. “I would like to know what you have in store for me,” he said and Amelia nodded.

She replied.Amelia stared at her cousin and saw that she was resolute in her choice. "Why are you unhappy to see me? It's not as if we were having issues before you got kidnapped. Why are you acting toward me this way?" "Have you lost your mind?" She replied, didn't she know that she was prohibited from coming to his house. The truth was that even she was not ready to work for her cousin. She was not lacking anything at the moment and even worse came to the worst she would easily swing into her family home and ask her grandma to help which she was sure that she wouldn't get ridiculed for but if she tried it with anyone else she would never hear the end of it. "Your father is rumored to be returning to the country soon. How do you feel about that?" Alex inquired and she smiled, her heart easing up from the tension that something bad happened."Why did you act as if there was something else attached to this? I thought something had happened." Alex shrugged, "are you expecting something bad to happen? If you do, that's not good enough, why are you worried?" He replied and she stills, not knowing how to say this. She wasn't really worried about anything serious. "You seem to be in touch with a lot of things. I was just scared that you probably knew something I didn't and I wondered what? I thought that you were about to break the news of maybe Brock committing an offense or whatnot, hence my fear." "Of course not, I would rather deal with those things than burden you." Brielle rolled her eyes. She didn't need a soothsayer to see that he just wanted to be the savior in the relationship. "N

Alex and Briel exchanged a glance as they entered. The office was silent, and was broken by the soft click of their heels on the polished floor. It was well past working hours, the building was well emptied. Except for one desk. A lone figure hunched over a computer screen, fingers flying across the keyboard, was Martins. His brow was furrowed in concentration, but as they approached, it creased further into a scowl. "There you two are," he said, his voice clipped. "Running a bit late, aren't we?" Briel offered a placating smile, forcing cheer into her voice. "So sorry, Martins. Traffic was a nightmare. You know how it gets in the city." Martins grunted, unconvinced. "Doesn't explain why Alex is late too. Unless you two decided to turn a business meeting into a late lunch." A flicker of suspicion played in his eyes. Alex bristled. "It was nothing like that. Just unexpected delays." He wasn't in the mood for Martins' accusa

The car jolted to a stop in front of the house and Martins can still feel his heart slamming against his chest. He made a mental note never to participate in anything like that ever again. He exhaled, and just rested his head on the headrest taking steady breaths as he switched off the ignition. The trio trooped out of the car and they all walked into the house and all three of them sat down on the chair. They all had probably been scared when the whole thing was going down but they held fast and now their little mission had yielded results. Brielle stood up after a while and spoke first. “You guys must be famished, let me go get something up,” she said with a smile, turning around and heading to the kitchen. “Huh?” Alex said. “Are you sure you are not too tired to…?” Alex started but Brielle cut him short. *Oh don't worry about it, I am just going to microwave something, it should be fast,” she said and just waved him down. <

Two days later, Brielle drops the phone and exhales for the third time. “What?” Alex asked as he flipped another page from his book. “Just my family is trying to convince me to come to grandma's meeting,” she replied. “It is not that I don't wanna go or anything but the whole thing always ends in violence and issues, I am tired of that and it isn't really safe.” She sighed. Alex stopped reading and glanced at her. “You do know they'll keep calling you right?” He asked. “Yeah…” she said. “I do know.”Alex was about to say another thing when her phone rang again. She sighed and Alex couldn't help but chuckle as she clicked the receiver. Her husband watched her take the call and the ensuing conversation didn't last five minutes before Brielle agreed to go. She hung up and a little smile hung up her face. “So, why did you change your mind?” Alex asked. “My father… they said my father is coming back,” she said with a s

Alex put his car to a top in the office's parking space and yawned before even opening the door. He already felt tired going to work today but he was familiar with that silly feeling of initial lethargy. The moment he stepped out of his car he already began to feel alive. He closed his car's door and locked it behind him before walking down to his office. He walked into the office and just greeted everyone as he walked down the hall. The office seemed lively today as everyone greeted him happily and they were all going on about their work with immense speed. He greeted everyone with a wide smile. At last he reached his office room, he clicked it open and sat down relaxing his body before beginning the work for the day. He flipped open his computer system and then he heard a knock on his door. “Come in,” he said. The door clicked open and Martins walked in and heard towards him with a sense of urgency and excitement in his face. “Good morning s

She had funny ways of acting sometimes. “Brielle,” he called. “We need to leave soon, I already reserved seats for us but if we don't show up an hour after the time we booked they have the right to resell our seats,” he advised calmly. She turned around and smiled. “I am done,” she said.“Oh great, so let's go,” he said eagerly, lifting himself from the chair he'd been confined to. “No,” she said. “I just finished with the first eye, I can't leave the second one like that.”Alex stared at his wife for a while and then exhaled. “Yeah meet me in the car,” he said and then walked out of the room sighing. He could hear her chuckling behind him. Before he reached downstairs she was behind him laughing hard. “You have the patience of

It had been a week since the day that the final hearing had been adjourned. The judge had thanked Alex, Amelia, and Nikki for their help to the investigation. It was not something a judge would usually do but the whole situation that had brought them to the court was out of the ordinary. Alex and Brielle had been released from jail and the judge had ordered the immediate arrest of the real culprits after promising compensation to Alex and Brielle. Everyone sat in the courtroom, anticipating the beginning of the final hearing. There were reporters and people from the mass media all around the room and every single person who was involved in the case was present as well. After Alex presented all the evidence explaining his wicked brother's schemes, Liam saw that there was no way to hide anymore so he grinned again. "Yes, I meant what I said. I can't be the only one with hands pointing at me. I am just a little in number of people who are involved in this crime so as much as I would like to talk about certain things I also wanted to tell you that there might be some things that you want to change but don't have the power to. It's all in your head if you think that I won't carry out proper investigations." He said. The whole courtroom was astonished at his nonchalance. "Do you think that I would be afraid anymore? You don't even know half of what I've done. If you knew it, I'm sure that a lot of you would run mad but that won't help you one bit, instead it would dampen how fast this process should be and make you look like a fool." He spat. Temple signaled to him to stop talking so that he didn't reveal all the secrets but he refused. "The funny thi

The judge spoke while adjusting the rim of his glasses so that it settled perfectly on his nose. Nikki rolled her eyes at the declaration. The plan was simple, Brielle was to go in, seduce Sean and get him to confess to many crimes that he committed so that they could present in the court in three days. "What could be keeping her too long?" Nikki murmured angrily. They still had a lot of places to reach before midnight. Shs wanted to make everything done and over with so that she could take a nap but this was not going the way she wanted."She's not even in the line of vision. She muttered impatiently."Right. I guess we can dive right into the topic. So why are you here, Amelia?" Nikki challenged her. Amelia scoffed at the audacity that this lady possessed to challenge her about her presence in her cousin's house. "You're just a friend but that's beside the point. It was almost three p.m. and she still had a meeting to cover before she could call it a day. However, since Brielle needed her, it was high time that she agreed on what to do."Okay, I'll be there. I hope you have food though because I'm famished," She replied. "Yeah, you don't need to worry, I just need to put some things together, that's a little repayment for your time and energy," Brielle responded half-heartedly. She wasn't really in the mood to cook but had no choice anyway since that was what her beloved friend wanted. "You don't need to stress yourself to prove a point, I could order but I feel like having a home-made meal. You know what? Why don't I make a quick stop at home so I don't stress you out? “I’m here to see Alex.” Amelia told one of the prison wardens who stared at her as though she was speaking Greek. She returned a matching glare not wanting to be intimidated at all. They had nothing on her."Who are you and why do you think that you have the right to see him before visiting hours?" He asked her."I don't know why I don't have the privilege to see my in-law, last time I checked, this is the visiting time or is there something you don't want me to know about?" Amelia replied angrily. She had no respect for people who were after their bellies. The warden was tapped by his colleague who nodded to allow her in. She was a family member who was not restricted from seeing him. The first warden didn't just want to allow her in like that. There needed to be peace and orderliness. “Who are you?”“Amelia.”“Wait in the visitors room, I’ll call him for you.”Amelia was seated as she looked around and waited patiently for Alex to be brought to her.
