"You were seen as one of the people who worked on my client's account before you left. There are some discrepancies that I'd like for you to rectify." Liam said in an accusatory tone.

The only response from Alex was laughter coming from his belly. It was deep throated as he caught the manipulation that his brother was about to spin on him. Unfortunately it wasn't going to work on him.

Comporting himself to make sure that there was no mistake on the way, he decided that it wouldn't go down well with him if he didn't hear what else his brother had up his sleeves. He quickly set his phone to record all the conversation so that he wouldn't have a problem with defense.

"You are busy laughing when your reputation is also on the line? That's quite disheartening to say the least. Now do you know all that it has taken for me to clear your name from the list yet it keeps backfiring. ignore the noise of the ship capsizing or not. The company is under fire for your mistake."

Liam lied.

"Why are you here?" Alex demanded from the visitor that stood across his door. He wouldn't have expected that this man would seek him out after all that had been said concerning him. "I am your Uncle. Do well to show some respect." He chided him and he went still for a few seconds trying to process what was happening. "Is there a problem?" Alex replied quietly and his uncle smiled at the carbon copy of his brother. "You need to tame your anger. That was why your father was more successful. He enjoyed taming his anger. No one could ever say a negative word about him. It's a good habit, it gives you power too." "Babe, why don't you invite him in?" Brielle called from inside the house. To her surprise, Alex cocked his head and beckoned his so-called uncle into the house. Alan walked in with a smile and presented a gift to Brielle. "Hello, ma'am. I brought some wine. I don't think you'd mind but, I'd be happy with any choice that you make." He replied. Brielle liked the man's vibe

This was the second time that this was repeating itself and he was pissed by the way certain people thought that they could just spring up from nowhere and order him around. Well, newsflash because they didn't know the kind of person that he was.He was going to make sure that they regretted their actions. All of them."Kindly, leave my house." He replied.Alan stared at the rude boy. He wasn't even going to hear the full terms and conditions. "I don't want to hear anything from you. Since we cannot have a business deal together without me leaving my wife, I think it's best that you leave now that it's still day. You can lodge in a hotel for the night if you so please." He replied and watched them stare at him like he was crazy. Well, they had a long way to go if they thought that he'd succumb to their pressure.Alan walked out of the house respectfully, not willing to allow his nephew to insult him all because he was trying to make sure that certain things worked out. It was very sa

Alex faced the road driving the car with a serious countenance plastered on his face on the steering wheel with a cold aura.He seemed bothered but at the same time, he seemed angry even if he was trying not to make it obvious. He drove ahead at full speed without taking a single break. Soon he was finally in front of his brother's company and he parked the car recklessly on the road.He came down from the car and slammed the door of the car shut behind him. He walked directly into the office and all eyes fell on him immediately. Everyone was staring at him as he walked directly through the hall. All the staff started greeting him with a smile but he ignored them all.“Good day, sir,”“Good day,”“Welcome sir.”He ignored all of their greetings and just faced ahead without taking a second glance at any one of them. They all seemed fearful to see him but he didn’t care less about them. He was here for something serious and he didn’t have time. He had something more important that he

Liam's mouth was opened when Alex walked out of his office. He had finally lost his brother to the hands of greed but there was nothing that he was going to do about that. It might have been because there was something more important that made Alex pissed. What information did Alex have on him? He wondered. It had to be something worthwhile because that man bluffed early. This made him very scared because he didn't know what to expect. If there was anything that would stop him from achieving his goals, maybe it was when he was dead. Alan saw Liam's countenance and laughed at him wondering why he was acting like he had never experienced anything that was just the same as this. His disappointment was very evident. Moving on, he was finally able to come to the conclusion that there might be a problem that he was not tackling and that singular act was going to make him lose a lot of things. "What do I do against this guy who is hell-bent in ruining my life?" Liam inquired from Alan, ho

Alex felt something was off with the way that Kate was acting but he didn't know what exactly was happening with her. Was it because he had rejected her advances that made her so cold to him? He wondered. That shouldn't be the issue because it only showed that she was unprofessional which was annoying by the way. There was no way that anyone would have changed what he felt for his wife. He wasn't a promiscuous man so if that's what she wanted, she was in for a rude shock. There was nothing that was going to stop him from getting his brother behind bars for he had done too much that required that he be taught a lesson that would change his life around. He intended that it happened that week.He reached out to his friend that he wouldn't normally call. "Hello, can we meet up at the La plage bar?" He asked and his friend looked at his phone again hoping that he was not looking rightly."Alex, is that you?" Caine asked him and Alex nodded, before humming. "Let's switch to video call so th

Alex approached La Plage with caution. After staying out of sight to see whatever Sean might try to attempt on his way. His phone rang and he saw Sean's number flashing on the screen. "Yes?" "I'm there but you aren't. Is that what you're good at? Standing people up?" Sean fired back. Alex chuckled inwardly. This was going to be a battle of wits. This man was sharper than Brock and he welcomed the challenge. " This is not the best way to speak to someone that you've been longing to meet." He replied knowing that he would surely be angry with the way that things were going. "Are you sure that you don't want me to check out? Unlike you I have a multimillion dollar company to run and I don't have the time to talk about incessant things." Sean replied. Alex grinned, he looked forward to things like this. " I'll be there in a minute." Sean had already ordered his drink. A bottle of scotch as usual. He was ready for the day. There was nothing that would stop Alex from accepting his

Panic surged inside of Alex as he rushed toward his beloved wife who was lying unconscious on the floor this was not what he was expecting."Can you see what your stress gas caused her? She fainted at your arrival!" Brock tried to pin the blame on him.Grandma gritted her teeth as she stared at her grandson, "How insensitive can you be, Brock? This is not just anybody! This is your sister for crying out loud. If anything, you should be making haste to make sure that she doesn't die." Alex ignored their brouhaha and picked up his wife, carrying her out of the godforsaken house. This was the last time that she would set foot into the house. He was going to make sure that she didn't see them. They wouldn't kill his beloved wife because of a deal that had all possibilities of not coming through. It was almost as if they didn't understand what was going on but he didn't even mind. That was the least of his worries. "Drive to the hospital." He ordered Brock's family driver who understood

A small smile appeared on Alex's face and for the first time in a long while he experienced deep-seated satisfaction. This was what it meant to be very satisfied. He wasn't feeling any pressure to do anything other than just take his wife home. He remembered one of the days when Brielle had complained about a headache which he thought that she had gone to the hospital for.He was beaming like a Cheshire cat that caught the canary and he was not ashamed to even show it. " How far gone is she?" "She's three months gone." Alex did a quick math to the period she was free from the clutches of the kidnappers. Nothing else mattered to Alex. He finally had an heir , someone that would take over from him."Thank you for this information, so what are the next things that we need to know and do." He replied. He was a believer in something that something was meant to be and one didn't prepare for it, one might end up losing it. "Oh, she'd begin her antenatal and we'll tell you more as the preg

    Chapter 162: Epilogue

It had been a week since the day that the final hearing had been adjourned. The judge had thanked Alex, Amelia, and Nikki for their help to the investigation. It was not something a judge would usually do but the whole situation that had brought them to the court was out of the ordinary. Alex and Brielle had been released from jail and the judge had ordered the immediate arrest of the real culprits after promising compensation to Alex and Brielle. Everyone sat in the courtroom, anticipating the beginning of the final hearing. There were reporters and people from the mass media all around the room and every single person who was involved in the case was present as well. Liam, his mother, their Lawyer who had helped their forgery, Brock, Sean and Martin. Alex, Amelia, Nikki and Brielle were also there to witness the final judgment so as to receive a form of closure for all of their efforts and the ways they had been deceived.Liam and his mother came into the courtroom first to hear th

After Alex presented all the evidence explaining his wicked brother's schemes, Liam saw that there was no way to hide anymore so he grinned again. "Yes, I meant what I said. I can't be the only one with hands pointing at me. I am just a little in number of people who are involved in this crime so as much as I would like to talk about certain things I also wanted to tell you that there might be some things that you want to change but don't have the power to. It's all in your head if you think that I won't carry out proper investigations." He said. The whole courtroom was astonished at his nonchalance. "Do you think that I would be afraid anymore? You don't even know half of what I've done. If you knew it, I'm sure that a lot of you would run mad but that won't help you one bit, instead it would dampen how fast this process should be and make you look like a fool." He spat. Temple signaled to him to stop talking so that he didn't reveal all the secrets but he refused. "The funny thi

The judge stared at him, wondering why three people were walking in."Barrister Nikki, what is going on here?" He asked when he saw close to five people walking into the room at the same time."I brought them as witnesses to help with the process, sir." She confessed and the judge nodded while motioning that she could go on. "I, Barrister Nikki, would like the court to allow us to begin the process again so that we can have a clear picture about what will happen soon." She replied. The judge was a bit perplexed but from the way the lady was speaking, she figured out that she probably knew what she was doing and was only biding her time.Liam glanced at his lawyer in fear hoping that they didn't make the mistake of letting anything slip out of his mind. Temple began to sweat because he knew that problems were about to arise and all he could do right now was to make sure that he was able to find a solution. "Let the proceedings begin." The judge spoke while adjusting the rim of his glasses so that it settled perfectly on his nose. Nikki rolled her eyes at the declaration. It was evident that he had been bribed hence the reason for him not properly dissecting the evidence before him and choosing to believe this man over Alex. "Objection my Lord." Nikki piped up with a smile while staring her boss in the eyes. Barr. Temple who watched her grapple with many sheets of papers as she tried to bring up more evidence. "Objection sustained." The judge granted her request Nikki adjusted her collar and smiled at the judge again. "I'm sure that everyone knows that these men are nothing but treacherous businessmen. Nikki tapped her feet in the car impatiently as they waited for Brielle to come out of Sean's apartment. They had gotten someone to set a camera inside the house to watch what was going on so that they knew the next step to take Amelia also tapped her fingers against the window as she counted one to ten in her head. The plan was simple, Brielle was to go in, seduce Sean and get him to confess to many crimes that he committed so that they could present in the court in three days. "What could be keeping her too long?" Nikki murmured angrily. They still had a lot of places to reach before midnight. Shs wanted to make everything done and over with so that she could take a nap but this was not going the way she wanted."She's not even in the line of vision. We told her to remain in the living room so that we could capture the real footage and present unmistakable evidence." She muttered impatiently."Right. I guess we can dive right into the topic. So why are you here, Amelia?" Nikki challenged her. Amelia scoffed at the audacity that this lady possessed to challenge her about her presence in her cousin's house. "You're just a friend but that's beside the point. It was almost three p.m. and she still had a meeting to cover before she could call it a day. However, since Brielle needed her, it was high time that she agreed on what to do."Okay, I'll be there. I hope you have food though because I'm famished," She replied. "Yeah, you don't need to worry, I just need to put some things together, that's a little repayment for your time and energy," Brielle responded half-heartedly. She wasn't really in the mood to cook but had no choice anyway since that was what her beloved friend wanted. "You don't need to stress yourself to prove a point, I could order but I feel like having a home-made meal. You know what? Why don't I make a quick stop at home so I don't stress you out? “I’m here to see Alex.” Amelia told one of the prison wardens who stared at her as though she was speaking Greek. She returned a matching glare not wanting to be intimidated at all. They had nothing on her."Who are you and why do you think that you have the right to see him before visiting hours?" He asked her."I don't know why I don't have the privilege to see my in-law, last time I checked, this is the visiting time or is there something you don't want me to know about?" Amelia replied angrily. She had no respect for people who were after their bellies. The warden was tapped by his colleague who nodded to allow her in. She was a family member who was not restricted from seeing him. The first warden didn't just want to allow her in like that. There needed to be peace and orderliness. “Who are you?”“Amelia.”“Wait in the visitors room, I’ll call him for you.”Amelia was seated as she looked around and waited patiently for Alex to be brought to her.
