Chapter Nine

The following morning, Emily woke up on the bed looking haggard. Her eyes were reddish and misted with unshed tears and her whole body was heating up with fever. After James dropped her off last night, she cried herself to sleep, knowing that she had lost her job.

It was past 8 a.m. when she glanced at the clock with zero worries about work. There was no point rushing to get to the company after yesterday's event.

She picked up her cell phone lying on the bed, and on the screen was an email from the company. It was a dismissal notice. She slid through, without bothering to check it out.

“Fuck you, Harper!" She yelled out, expressing her deep pain.

Her brows were furrowed deeply, casting a shadow over her anxious eyes that darted around the room as if searching for a way out.
