Maxwell was a bit stunned by the men's chorus greetings, but still, he maintained his composure and walked gracefully into the study, as Mr Jude had taught him beforehand.
“You may rise.” He said, after some seconds of nervousness. Thankfully, Mr Jude had taught him all of these before the meeting. The men all raised their heads and took their seats. Maxwell also took his seat on the high floor. Mr Jude cleared his throat and stood up from where he was seated. “Fellow Directors, I am happy to inform you that all conditions have been met, and his lord, Maxwell Arnold, has taken over as the chief executive owner of the SkyDrive group of companies.” Mr Jude said, and there was a rumble of applause in the entire study. Maxwell had never felt so honored before, a smile was boldly written on his lips. It somehow felt fun as the men addressed him as “my Lord.” “My Lord, these are the top directors of our companies, each one of them holding a very important position in their respective companies.” Mr Jude said and proceeded to introduce them one after the other. The documents of the list of companies under him were passed to Maxwell. His eyes bulged out, as over 200 companies were listed in the documents. Even though everyone knew of SkyDrive, and their influence had touched virtually all sectors of the industry, Maxwell never thought that a whole 200+ companies would be owned by SkyDrive. Even the renowned First City Bank was owned by SkyDrive. “We own all of these?” Maxwell asked, his eyeballs rolling all over the entire document. “Yes, my lord.” Mr Jude said, and Maxwell immediately wanted to remind him of their agreement, but it seemed that he had to address him with his title in front of the directors. “That’s a lot,” Maxwell muttered. On the other side of the documents was a list of companies and consortiums under the influence of SkyDrive. Their thriving and downfall were just at the fingertips of SkyDrive, and they could only maintain their prestige by relying on SkyDrive. And of course, Brown's consortium was a part of the companies. Maxwell smirked, he never knew that the arrogant Patrick Brown would be at his mercy one day. He was going to make him pay for stealing his wife from him. “Whenever you have time sir, please visit the headquarters, so you can familiarize yourself with some activities over there.” One of the directors said with a broad smile. Maxwell thought for a while before nodding his head negatively. “The previous CEO stayed in anonymity; I would love to tread on that path also. My identity should be kept secret; it shouldn't be known to any other soul aside from all of us here.” He explained, even though he had other motives for doing that. Being in the dark, he could target those who had hurt him with ease, and he could easily make their lives miserable. The thought only made him smile; he was sure it was going to be fun. The directors looked at themselves and mumbled some words that were partially audible to Maxwell. Mr Jude took the initiative and calmed down the directors. “If that's what you want, then so be it.” Mr Jude said, and the other directors agreed. The meeting lasted for about an hour before finally coming to an end. The directors exchanged pleasantries, shook hands with each other, and took their leave one after the other. “How did it feel?” Mr Jude asked as he walked up to Maxwell. “What?” He asked ignorantly. “I mean…the meeting, how did you like it?” He explained himself well, and Maxwell immediately smiled. “It was nice, to be honest, and I am glad everyone agrees on my anonymity,” Maxwell replied. “If I may ask, why did you choose to remain anonymous?” Curiosity was written all over Mr Jude's face as he asked Maxwell. “I just wanted to continue Mr Smith's legacy, also, I still need more time to adjust to this lifestyle.” He added, and Mr Jude nodded in agreement with him. Maxwell's stomach rumbled, which caused Mr Jude to laugh out loud. “You must be hungry.” He said and beckoned to the kitchen to serve their food. They both headed to the dining table and they were served some minutes later. “Father, I want to go out for a while, I will be back soon,” Maxwell said as soon as he finished his food. “You are free, go anywhere you want. But please, be safe. I will assign some guards to follow you.” Mr Jude warmly said, but Maxwell waved off his idea. “No. I want to keep a low profile; bringing those men with me will only cause attraction.” He spoke gently, and Mr Jude nodded in agreement. “But still, two men will follow you in secret, people will never relate them to you, just for your security.” Mr Jude said, and Maxwell had to succumb. He knew he wouldn't stop persuading him until he took some guards with him. “They will be secret guards.” “Of course, just secret guards.” Mr Jude replied, and Maxwell stood up from his seat. He headed to his room and changed into a more casual dress, which made him look more like a commoner. “I am leaving, father.” He said as he reappeared in the living room. Two hefty men with arms crossed stood beside Mr Jude. They were so built and muscular, that Maxwell was for a second terrified of them. “These are the guards, they will ensure your security.” Mr Jude stood up from his chair and adjusted Maxwell's collar. He told Maxwell that he wouldn't be living in the mansion for the day, as he lost some loved ones exactly today, some years back. “I would love to mourn them privately.” Mr Jude said, and Maxwell was somehow surprised. “What a coincidence.” He thought within himself and stared at Mr Jude. “Please, be safe.” He said he couldn't bear to lose the only person who brought him joy and happiness. Maxwell smiled, “Of course I will.” “Take good care of him; nothing must happen to him; not even a scratch is allowed.” Mr Jude ordered and the men yelled out a “yes” at almost the same time. “There are some luxurious cars in the garage, feel free to choose one.” Mr Jude said as Maxwell walked out of the living room. He got to the garage, picked up the old model of a Mercedes Benz, and drove off. The men each climbed on a power bike and drove at some distance behind Maxwell. He suddenly halted in front of a shopping mall, he wanted to get some flowers as it was his mourning day. According to the orphanage home he grew up in, today was the exact day he lost his parents to a planned brutal car accident. “Father, mother, you can rest in peace, and I vow to unravel the mystery behind your deaths, and I will find my twin brother.”He turned off the car's engine and alighted the car. He raised his head to check out the name of the shopping mall.“ShopGood.” He muttered to himself. Beside the name were initials, which made Maxwell know that he owned the shopping mall.Mr. Jude had told him about a hathe ck of the identity of their various assets all over the world. An initials of “S.D” was always added beneath the name of the asset, which stood for SkyDrive.Maxwell sighed; he walked into the mall but was met by some uproar. A young girl of almost his age stood by the counter, with a pot-bellied man raining insults on her. The girl was no doubt the center of attraction, and Maxwell wondered why the man could be so harsh to rain insults on such a girl.As he approached the inside of the mall, he began to understand what was going on.“Where could you have seen such an amount of money? You are just a pauper living by the streets, I am sure you stole this money from someone.” The pot-bellied man shouted, and everyon
“You are fully healed.” Maxwell smiled at the patient in front of him.The patient, who was initially diagnosed with brain cancer couldn't contain his joy. His face brightened in ecstasy.“I can't believe this.” The patient exclaimed. He had once doubted if he would live long as orthodox doctors told him he had just a few months to live.“I told you that you will be fine.” Maxwell giggled.Maxwell was a young man in his late twenties. He had lived in the orphanage home since the beginning of his life, with no clue as to who his parents or relatives were. He was exceptionally gifted in medicine and could cure virtually all diseases using ancient and traditional medicine. He took out a piece of paper and scribbled some words on it.“Follow these prescriptions, and you will have nothing to worry about.” He said to the man before walking out of the room.He still had five more patients to attend to before the day ran out. He doesn't have a hospital of his own, rather, he cures the patient
A wicked smile was plastered on Amelia's face as Maxwell drove out of the hospital.“Thanks for that, doctor. I am tired of that man.” Amelia said with a smile, extending a handshake to the doctor.“It's a pleasure.”Amelia was very fascinated that her plan had worked out. She had met up with the doctor beforehand and deliberately planned out everything. Even though she had been involved in a series of abortions, she was never diagnosed with a weak uterus. She only used it as an excuse to dismiss Maxwell from her life.“He is just a loser, who doesn't deserve the last bit of me.” She said with a smirk. She dipped her hand into her bag and took out her cell phone. The wicked smile on her face suddenly disappeared and was replaced by a warm smile, full of love and emotions.“Hey love, it all went well. Can you hurry to the hospital and pick me up?” She said in a soft tone, her eyelids blinked as she blushed over the phone.“That's great to hear. I will be there in a minute.” Patrick rep
An infuriated, and betrayed Maxwell stormed into his room to grab some of his clothes and documents. Those were the only things he needed; he had already vowed to build everything back from scratch.“That was a great one, Amelia.” Patrick commended Amelia as soon as Maxwell left the living room.“I know, right? He was too stupid to believe me in me. He has himself to blame.” Amelia replied, and they both burst out laughing.“A minute please,” Patrick muttered and dashed out of the living room.He headed towards Maxwell's car and dropped a black leather bag into the car's airbag. He took a picture of the item and proceeded to call someone.“It's an old black Toyota, with plate number 365. Be alert.” He said over the phone, while the person on the other side replied with “Alright Master,”Patrick wore a mischievous smirk as he slid the phone back into his pocket.“You shouldn't have messed with me.” He muttered to himself, his heart full of happiness as he walked back to the living room
Maxwell was still in a dazed state when one of the officers placed a handcuff on his hands. He was arraigned into the police van, and one of the officers took over his car.“How did you have that in your car?” The officer who had checked his documents earlier asked him. He was the one guarding Maxwell in the van's trunk.Maxwell looked at the officer's identity card, Robert Lawson was boldly written on it.“Robert, right?” Maxwell asked while the officer nodded.“Robert, will you believe me if I tell you that I know nothing about the incident?” Maxwell said, and Robert sighed.“So are you saying that you were framed?” Robert asked him, his eyes glued to Maxwell's.“I can't say for sure, but that's the most likely possibility.” He said in response to Robert's question.“I can relate with you. I have handled lots of cases in which the offender was most likely framed by someone else.” Robert paused and examined Maxwell's expression.“Do you, by chance, have anyone in mind who could have
“Are you kidding me?” Maxwell asked in surprise, while Robert still struggled to catch his breath.“No, I am not. How come you didn't tell me that you are from a wealthy family?” Robert asked, leaving Maxwell in a dazed state.“Wealthy family? What's happening?” Maxwell screamed. He could feel himself going crazy any time soon.“Someone paid for your bail, you are free now,” Robert answered Maxwell's question, but it only stirred up more questions in Maxwell's mind.“Who was that person? And why would he pay for my bail? What exactly is going on?” Maxwell thought within himself. There was no use asking Robert; he seemed exactly as confused as he was. After about three minutes, Maxwell had calmed down and was led outside by Robert. He was shocked to see three luxurious helicopters standing beautifully in the compound of the police station. He was sure each copter would be worth nothing less than a billion dollars. His mouth opened wide when the sergeant bowed before him and called him
“Is this some kind of a joke?” Maxwell spat out in shock, he tightened his grip around the knife he held and focused his gaze directly at the old man's eyeballs.“No, it's not. It's just the truth.” The old man replied. He grabbed some napkins and wiped them off his mouth.Maxwell could feel himself getting uneasy, he began to sweat profusely despite the cool air conditioner which blew cold air into the living room.“Are you sure you’ve not gotten the wrong person?” He asked in concern, while the old man gave him a wide smile.“C’mon, aren't you Maxwell? Maxwell Arnold?” The old man asked, causing further confusion in Maxwell's mind.“How on earth did he know my name?” He muttered to himself as he took in a deep breath. The old man noticed Maxwell's confusion and decided to tell him about everything.“Listen, son, there is something you don't know, and I will gladly tell you about it now.” He paused to gulp down his juice. The minor breaks in between his speech made Maxwell a bit agit
Mr. Jude couldn't help the joy that rushed down his spine; alas, he had finally fulfilled Mr. Smith's dying wish.“Thank you, Maxwell.” He said warmly. He grabbed a pen from the stationary cup and passed it to him.Without wasting much time, he signed the papers, making him the latest multi-billionaire in town.Suddenly, Mr Jude sprang up from his seat, went on his knees, and bowed slightly before Maxwell.“Greetings, my Lord.” He muttered, racing up his two hands as a means of honor and reverence. Maxwell was dumbfounded, he rushed to his feet and helped Mr Jude up.“No, please. You are like a father to me; you already fill that empty spot in my life; you shouldn't bow before me.” Maxwell said as he pulled Mr Jude up gently.“But still, you are my master.” Mr Jude insisted while Maxwell sighed.“Father, don't do that please,” Maxwell muttered, his voice full of love and emotions that Mr Jude's heart skipped a beat. Ever since his whole family was involved in a brutal accident, with
