Chapter 134

Katherine lay on the bed with her eyes facing the ceiling. A low smile etched across her lips as she gazed at the ceiling lost in her imagination. Flashes of the incident back in the office crept into her mind, and she sighed in relief.

“Kelvin,” she muttered affectionately. She paused and exhaled deeply, as she thought about the possibilities lying in wait for her.

“Katherine, are you in?” Her mother's birthday ice called, and she sighed.

“What is wrong with you lately? Is there anything you need help with? Let me help you. Open up.”

She ignored her mother's call and covered her ears with both palms. After waiting by the door, it dawned on Mariana that she wasn't coming out soon.

She exhaled and walked away while Katherine listened to her fading footsteps.
