Andrea's eyes reddened in anger as he watched Brian wrap his hand around his wife's waist.
It was no surprise to him when she pulled his hand from her waist and glared at Brian.
He wanted to rush toward the bastard who dared to abuse him of his incapability to walk in the presence of his wife but he couldn't so he calmed his nerves.
He was angrier at his wife that she couldn't shun or scold Brian when he was berating him in her presence. All she could do was watch her so-called business partner.
He ignored Brian like he didn't exist and faced his wife. He moved closer to her while clutching his crutches firmly. "How was work today? And hope it wasn't stressful," he said even though his heart was burning with rage.
He believed she had no strength to scold Brian because she might be tired and it was unlike her not to defend him even in an ugly situation.
She works in one of the most popular publishing houses as a reporter and a part-time model because of her exquisite beauty.
"Yes, it wasn't. There's no way you can help rather than cleaning the house," she muttered in a low tone.
Although her voice was inaudible, he heard her clearly but he refused to believe it.
"Yes, I know. I have prepared your favorite meal so go inside, freshen up, and eat," he said and planted a soft kiss on her lips.
For the first time, she didn't resist or push him away like she used to even though she didn't kiss him back. Maybe she didn't want to embarrass him in the presence of her business partner, Brian. But there wasn't any difference because she didn't reciprocate any of it.
She forced out a smile and said in a calm tone. "I trust you on that. Prepare the table so I and my partner can eat," he looked up instantly after she finished her statement.
"You want me to prepare a dish for him as well?" He asked in a cold tone and she squeezed her face.
"Yes, you should because he's an important guest. Do you have a problem with that?" She asked and he nodded his head.
"Yes. I do. I can't…" Madam Brianna interrupted him before he could complete his statement.
"Who says he has a problem with it?" She asked in a cold tone and he shook his head with a sigh.
He knew she was going to add more fuel to the burning fire.
"Or do you have a problem with it?" She asked and he nodded his head.
"Yes, I do," he replied adamantly and they snarled.
"And what made you think you can make decisions in this house, huh?" She asked.
"That's because I'm your daughter's husband. And besides, he abused me for my inability to walk," he yelled, with his heart burning with rage.
"And who cares, huh? Why are you angry? Aren't you handicapped?" She asked and he took a deep breath trying not to let out his emotion.
"You're still your daughter's husband," he responded in a weak and low tone.
"I don't acknowledge you as my daughter's husband. When was the last time you brought something to the table? I'll make sure that will change soon," she said and he squeezed his face.
He bit on his lower lips as he tried to control the tears that threatened to pour from his eyes.
He wanted to regret pushing his wife from the running vehicle on the highway but he couldn't because he loved her.
He lost everything after he got into the vehicle in front of his wife who crossed the road recklessly. Every good thing he had crumbled because of the accident and his life never remained the same.
"Do you know who he is? He's Brian, the owner of the Globe Oil company, one of the most flourishing oil companies in the State," she said proudly and he shivered.
Although he wasn't mesmerized by worldly things, he wondered how a young man like Brian owned such a prestigious company.
"I'll do it," he muttered and turned.
"You have no choice. Go and do as you've been instructed, you wimp," Brian said and adjusted his suit properly.
Brian was trying to make a good first impression about himself to his girlfriend's mother. "Good day, ma'am." He greeted her respectfully.
He was somewhat jealous of Adrian. How could a handicapped be surrounded by beautiful ladies? And he was Sandra's husband.
"Good day, my son. Sorry about earlier. Don't mind him," she said and glanced at Adrian, who was departing to the kitchen.
"That's not something to bother ourselves about," he replied calmly and they all sat down in the dining room.
Shortly, Adrian returned with a tray full of different delicacies of food. He dropped it on the table and just as expected, he served the dishes with his left hand while he clenched his crutches firmly with his right hand so he wouldn't fall.
"Hey," his mother-in-law, Brianna, called him back before he could leave.
"What is it, ma'am?" He asked in a little bit of a distressed voice and she frowned.
"Well, I hope you're aware that my daughter's birthday is tomorrow. You're not allowed to come empty-handed so find something to do," she waved her hand at him dismissively after she was done with him.
She called him back when she remembered something. "I want you to get some groceries from the Major store," she said and he frowned.
"But we still have some groceries that would be sustainable for two weeks," he said but she refused.
"Would you take and leave?" She asked and threw her credit card in his face.
"Spend the money wisely," she said conclusively, giving no room for discussion.
He knew she was trying to send him away so she could talk to that so-called millionaire, Brian, in the house. She didn't even give him a list of what to buy.
The Major shop was a few kilometers away from the house and there wasn't any taxi or bus so he had to trek there despite his inability to walk on his own. He had to depend on the crutches.
By the time he got home, he was exhausted. He dragged the bag full of different food items into the house and threw them into the food store.
Where are they? He asked himself with a confused look after checking two rooms without finding any of them. The guest, his wife, and his mother-in-law.
Just as he climbed the stairs that led to the master bedroom, he froze on a spot when he heard a soft voice more like a moan coming from the master bedroom, and it was the voice of his wife that he heard.
"Ahh… go deeper…"
"What is this I am hearing?" He asked himself in dismay. His heart skipped in fear and his eyes burned with fury. Although he was hearing her voice clearly, he didn't believe she could do such a thing. And besides, that was their matrimonial bedroom. Even if she doesn't love him, she has to respect him. He held the knob of the door with uncertainty in his heart. He was wondering whether to open the door or not. He didn't know whether he was ready to see what she was doing in the room moaning in pleasure. As much as he wanted to know, he didn't want to get his heart broken. He'd gotten his legs broken, he wouldn't want her to break his heart again. "What are you doing with him, Sandra?" He asked in a cold tone, held the knob of the door firmly with his hand shivering, and pushed it. Just as he was about to open the door, someone grabbed his right hand from behind and pulled him backward. He arched his eyebrows and looked up then his gaze landed on his mother-in-law, madam Brianna
Adrian frowned and squeezed his face after reading the last word of the letter. She bought a set of expensive suits for him? Isn't that ridiculous? Once again, she had downgraded him again. "Who did she think she is?" He asked himself with a cold look on his face and frowned. He clenched the paper firmly till it shredded into pieces. He threw the pieces of paper into the trash bin and walked into the master bedroom. He squeezed his face as his gaze landed on the red and black suit that was lying on the bed. Although it wasn't brand new, no one would be able to tell because it looked classy but with few flaws. If she could go as far as buying a suit for him because she didn't want him to disgrace her then he wouldn't wear the dress. He wondered what she was going to do to him. He doesn't care. He was prepared for whatever that might happen. He walked into the bathroom and dropped the crutches on the floor beside the bathtub then he entered it. He sighed deeply as he stared at th
“Who is this man, huh?”“Accusing Mr. Daniel? Does he have a death wish?”“Yes, he does. I can't wait to see him dead.”“I see no reason why Mr. Daniel would buy a fake leaf when he's wealthy.”“This man is just a clout chaser and he needs to be dealt with.”“A poor and handicapped man challenging the rich. What a poor world.”Adrian paid no attention to the hateful and shameful comment that he was hearing. He pretended as though he didn't hear any of them. His attention was fixed on the so-called rich Mr. Daniel. “How dare you claim the original leaf I bought was worth millions of dollars fake!” The man yelled but he wasn't fazed by it. “Do you mean the imitation that you bought was fake?” Adrian said in a cold tone, challenging the rich man before him which made the guest infuriated by his gut. “What is the meaning of what you're doing?” His wife, Sandra, asked as she leaned closer to him. “Stop it and leave,” she said in a cold tone and he shook his head in response. “I won't
“What!”“Who does he think he is? Trying to challenge General Lei Feng family?”“I think he has a dead wish.”“I can't wait to see what the dominant daughter of the General would do.”Just as they were commenting badly about Adrian's behavior, he was less concerned sitting comfortably on a swivel chair. “What's wrong with you, Adrian? You should help him if you can even though I'm sure you can't,” Brianna scolded him but he was unfazed any of it. “You're still doubting me. Well, I don't think I'll be able to do anything,” he said in a calm and meek tone. “Why are you doing this?”“That's because you were there when this scammer was discriminating me and you did nothing about it.”“Of course, you believed him over your son-in-law,” he said and swallowed the lump in his throat. His throat was burning with pain coupled with the overwhelming sadness in his mind. Although he appeared calm and cold, he was weak and heartbroken within. Those who were supposed to support him, were busy su
“I'm sorry, Mr. Daniel. I don't think I'll be able to help you considering how you embarrassed me over there so I'd suggest you step out of my way,” Adrian said conclusively, giving no room for any conversation. Mr. Daniel wiped off the bead of sweat that formed on his face as he noticed the indifferent look on his face. He wouldn't stoop so low to be begging for a low life if he didn't have what he needed in his possession and his life was at stake. Someone else was in danger and all the guests were all depending on him to turn the tides while he knew nothing about the problem. He had to find an excuse so he could meet up and ask the location of the leaf but it seemed Adrian didn't want to help him. If something happens to the lady, he will be blamed and punished by her powerful father. “Please forgive me, Mr. Adrian. I know I have offended you but I need your forgiveness. The lady will die if nothing is dead,” he said and Adrian chuckled softly. “You're only concerned about he
Adrian bit on his lower lips with an angry look on his face as his gaze on Brian, who had a sly smile on his face as he forced the sedative into the glass cup of drink she was holding. She was so carried away by his sweet words that she didn't notice what he was doing at that moment. He wanted to go forward and challenge Brian to spike the drink of his wife but he stopped himself as he remembered that he wasn't with any evidence. No one would believe it. He could only try to warn his wife to avoid and stay away from Brian. He had always known that Brian didn't have good intentions toward his wife but he didn't tell his wife because she would think he was jealous and she might get angry at him. And besides, she had been loyal to him.He took a cold breath when he remembered that his wife and his mother-in-law were angry at him for turning down General Lei Feng's daughter's offer. He could only hope that she would listen to him and stay away from Brian but he wouldn't be able to d
“How dare you!” Brian dropped his hand from Sarah's waist with a frustrated look on his face as he heard Adrian's voice from behind. He turned back and a soft gasp left his lips as his gaze landed on Adrian. He was awe-struck to see Adrian in his hotel room. Not only did Adrian have the gut to stalk him to the hotel but he also found his way into his hotel room. How did he do it? Why wasn't he thrown out? However, Brian remained unfazed. “It's a wonder how you managed to enter the hotel without being thrown by the security men,” Brian said and chuckled mockingly. Adrian's eyes burned with anger after hearing Brian's statement. He couldn't believe that Brian could still be talking to him in such a way despite what he did to his wife. He moved closer to him and clenched to the crutches with his left hand then raised his right hand and slapped him fiercely on his cheek. Brian staggered backward as the impact of the slap made him lose his stamina. He placed his hand on his right c
“Brian?” Sarah asked with a confused look on her face and he nodded his head. He placed his hand on his chest and cleared his throat. “That’s the truth. He brought you here.”“The other time that I warned you to stay away from him, I saw him putting a substance inside your drink while you were unaware. I warned him to stay away from you but he refused. I came…” she interrupted him with a deep frown on her face before he could finish explaining to her. “Can’t you hear yourself?” She asked with a cold look on her face. “You claimed that it was Brian who brought me to this place but how come that I'm here with you?” she asked in a cold tone and he shook his head with a sigh. He knew it would be hard to convince his wife that he was only trying to help her from the wolf in human clothing. “Please listen and try to understand me,” he said and crouched close to her but she sent a cold glare at him. “I won't. Keep whatever explanation you have to yourself,” she said and he bit on his l

“How could you do such a thing?” Adrian began to blame him and Daniel didn't like it. “Fine. I shouldn't have done such a thing but I have no choice,” Daniel said and Smith stared at him with a confused look on his face. “What do you mean? You have always had a choice. You made it so what are you saying about it?” He asked with an angry look on his face. “You won't blame me. Not like it's my fault anyway.”“If you'd listened to me when I told you to stop giving free meditation, I wouldn't have done such a thing but you didn't listen instead you ignored me,” Daniel said and he shrugged. “How could you do such a thing because of that, huh? What if that man went overboard and burned down this place just like he'd threatened?” Adrian half-yelled and he shook his head with a sigh. “Fine. I shouldn't have done it. And I'm very sorry. Please forgive me,” he said and Adrian scoffed. “Get the hell out of my face,” he said in a cold tone and Daniel nodded his head. “You won't forgive me
“What are you talking about?” The man blinked twice and looked away. “I don't know unless you tell me the person who paid you to frame me,” Adrian said in a cold and firm tone. The man looked up and glanced at his face then looked away quickly. “How did this cripple doctor know too much?” He asked himself but he couldn't get an answer. He couldn't get the reason why Adrian was able to uncover his flaws within seconds just after touching his hand and checking his pulse. Adrian smirked discreetly when he noticed the look on the old man's face. He knew what the old man was hiding. What the man didn't know was that he wasn't only a local doctor but he was a smart one indeed. The man admitted to the claims that he changed the prescription but he didn't tell anyone who told him to change the prescription. The man does not know the medical field so he couldn't change the drugs anyhow. And besides, he was desperate. It could be whether he was convinced to change the prescription or som
“You'll burn down my burn for what? What have I done wrong? So it's my fault treating you,” Adrian said in a calm tone. He remained indifferent and unfazed. He didn't care. He was ready for whatever that was going to happen because he knew that the illness should have healed up by then. “Don't give us that crap. It seems you don't care about your life, huh?” one of those men asked with an angry look on his face. “I do but you have to give me a few details before you can conclude that I'm sent to him or whatever.”“Or is this how you're going to treat me even after treating you for free?” Adrian asked in an annoyed tone and they scoffed. “That's the main reason why I'm suspicious of you. Who else gives medicine for free in this recession, huh?” The man spoke up in a harsh tone and he took a deep breath. Adrian bit on his lower lips and clenched into his crutches then approached the man, who glared at him disdainfully. “What are you doing?” One of those men asked and surrounded th
The next day, he opened his eyes as his alarm blared out loudly. He groaned out with a frustrated look on his face and reached out to the alarm on the table then put it off. “Why do you have to disturb me, huh?” He asked and stood up from the bed. He yawned and rubbed his hand on his eyes. He reached out to the crutches on the floor and clenched them close to himself. “Ahh…” he grunted out in pain as he struggled to climb down from the bed with the crutches. He limped toward the nightstand where his phone was ringing. He reached out to it and picked it up from the nightstand. He rested his arm on crutches and swiped through the phone with his right hand. He arched his eyebrows with a confused look on his face as he stared at the caller ID, which turned out to be Chloe. Why is she talking to him? He asked himself but he couldn't get an answer to it. He took a deep breath and picked the call then placed the phone close to his ears. “Hello,” he spoke up in his cold tone. “Hello,
By the time Adrian arrived home, he was tired and his body was aching seriously. He took a deep breath as he stood before the door and glanced at it with uncertainty in his heart. He couldn't stop feeling bad for what he said to Mr. Daniel. Mr. Daniel looked hurt and heartbroken after he made such a statement. He wished he could reverse what he said but it was too late. The deed has already been done. He could only beg him and ask for his forgiveness to soothe his heart. I knocked at the door and the door creaked open, revealing Daniel who was in a singlet and a short. “Welcome,” he said casually and turned to the left. “Daniel,” he called him back but Daniel pretended as though he didn't hear him. “Please don't leave yet,” he said and Daniel stopped on his track then turned to him. “What's the problem?” Mr. Daniel asked with a cold look on his face and he hit on his lower lips, unaware of what to say or do. “About what I said to you earlier. I know I shouldn't have judged you
“It seems someone misses me,” he said as he approached them and they nodded their heads quickly. “Yes. We missed you, Mr. Adrian.”“Where have you been?”“Why didn't you open the shop? We have been worried whether something is wrong with you,” one of them said and he shrugged. “Worried about me or worried that I wouldn't be able to treat you if anything happens to me,” he demanded and they kept quiet. “It's still the same. Not like it's different,” one of the people, who were waiting for him, replied in a hoarse tone. He shook his head with a sigh and reached out for the key inside his pocket then insisted it inside the keyhole and opened the door. His patient pushed the door open because of his condition and they walked inside the shop. “Please treat me first. I came earlier,” one of them said and the other one disagreed. “That's not true. I came earlier than you but I went to do something so I returned to meet you,” he said. “Why did you leave if your health is important to y
“What if I told him that you're a local doctor? Aren't you?” Daniel asked in a cold tone and Adrian looked up with an angry and shocked expression on his face. “That's not possible. You didn't tell him, right?” Adrian asked in a concerned tone and Daniel scoffed. “What's with the look? I told him, "So what's the problem?” Daniel asked in a cold tone and he groaned out with a frustrated look on his face. “How could you tell him that I'm a local doctor? Can't you tell that he's someone that you shouldn't entrust my secret to and besides, he seems to be a powerful individual,” he said and Daniel shrugged. “I know and that's the reason why I told him the truth. I can't afford to offend someone like him. And besides, he paid me a lot of money,” Daniel said and rubbed his hand on his hair. “How could you tell him? You don't know the implication of what you've just done. I bet you don't know.”“How could you stoop so low and give me out to him because of your love of money? I know that
“What are they talking about?” Adrian asked himself with a confused look on his face as he glanced at Daniel and the same weird man he had spoken to earlier. He was worried. He knew the man was up to no good. Why did he go and meet his partner of all people? He asked himself but he couldn't get an answer to it. “Get inside. Let's go,” Chloe, who didn't notice what was going on, said as she held the knob of the door. “Adrian?” She called out to him when she noticed that he wasn't paying attention to her and he was staring at someone else. He heard her calling him but he was keen to know why the man that challenged him was speaking with Daniel, who was his partner. “What could he be thinking about? And what is he looking at?” she asked herself with a confused look on her face. She looked up and a soft gasp escaped from her lips as her gaze landed on Martin, who was discussing with Daniel. “What could he be telling him?” She muttered and Adrian turned to her when he heard her ques
