Laila stood in front of her mirror, applying lotion to her face. Unclear images of Gregg flashed in her mind, intertwining with those of another man. She shut her eyes momentarily as if trying to erase the haunting memories.

“That was uncalled for,” she muttered under her breath, recalling her mother's sudden slap on Zinnia. Laila quickly rose from her chair, determined to address the situation. She made her way to Ma'am Luna's room.

Entering the room, Laila found Ma'am Luna receiving a massage on her massage chair, her eyes closed in relaxation.

Ma'am Luna sensed Laila's presence and asked, still with closed eyes, “What are you doing here?”

“Mother, I just wanted to say that… it was uncalled for,” Laila stated, her voice firm.

Ma'am Luna's brows furrowed, but she didn't open her eyes. “What do you mean…?”

“I'm talking about slapping Zinnia. She didn't deserve that.”

“Why? She's as useless as you and more annoying than you. I just can't stand her and her crabby…”
