Alex was given the typical tour upstairs, which included glass-walled offices, busy cubicles, and a lot of buzzwords. He listened, nodded at the proper spots, asked two good questions and one purposefully dumb one—just enough to sell the persona.

The woman, whose badge said "Danica," led him into a little demonstration space, seated him in front of a touchscreen, and started to describe the newest "intelligent route optimizer" that the business had created.

Alex listened to her. He was concerned about fleet allocations, GPS crossovers, and something labeled "shadow routes and their Q3 forecast" that inadvertently flashed across the screen between slides.

He put everything away. He got up and moved nonchalantly to the whiteboard near the far wall as Danica excused herself to get brochures. A basic outline of a restructuring plan had been put up, complete with names, dates, and most importantly the move of monies from "G.L. Ops" to "Council Rep Fund."

Greenline once more.

When Alex eventually parked in the driveway, the dashboard clock read 9:42 PM. With one hand still in his pocket, he crawled up the stairs after cutting the engine off.As he pushed the door open, it creaked slightly, and he entered his dim lighted living room with a subtle scent of lavender. He shrugged off his jacket, flicked on the bulb, and threw his keys in the porcelain bowl beside the door.He scratched the back of his neck and moaned. She is a treasure.""It wouldn't kill you to stop matchmaking like it's the 1980s," Alex murmured through foam, rolling his eyes throughout. Nevertheless, he tapped the picture open and immediately stopped using the brush. She looks absolutely stunning, he didn't anticipate that.He noticed how classy her almond-shaped eyes were just far enough away to give the impression that she is an athletes or she likes going to the Gym. A tortoiseshell pin was used to clip one side of her black hair, which was swept behind her ears. The fact that she was not grinning in the photo somehow enhanced its impact.Alex mumbled, "She looks like she'll file a lawsuit if I breathe wrong," after staring for a bit too long.He shook off the picture an
