Chapter 2

"Janet?" Arthur managed to mutter. The lady in question also looks stunned upon seeing Arthur at the door. "W… What are you doing here?" Arthur stammered. The shock on her face suddenly turned to a glare. "What does it look like I'm doing Arthur McCain? Or should I say Arthur nobody since you've lost the surname already."

Janet started walking into the room leaving the door open for Arthur to come in and do his job. The latter hesitated before pushing the trolley inside the room. As he walked into the room, Arthur managed to carry himself as his feet had already turned into jelly from the shock he just received. His girlfriend was in a hotel room with another man. Or should he say his girlfriend who abandoned him. "Honey, who was that?" A young man of about his age walked out of the bathroom in a towel.

"Bryan?" Arthur saw himself almost yelling. "You two. What? How could you do this to me?"

Bryan turned and scowled at the guy before him. "Well, look who we have here. My lovely step brother. I'm really happy to see you after all these years. Wait, come to think of it. The last time I checked, I'm now the only son of Gregg McCain."

Bryan walked towards him, stopping before his face. "So tell me. How do you like this surprise?" Janet strode toward where Bryan was, relaxing her head on his shoulder as the latter held her by the waist. Tilting his head, Bryan gave her a peck on the forehead and they both let out an evil chuckle.

Arthur's face turned red with anger as he clenched his fist. The memories of the past years came rushing back to him. He was standing before the guy who joined force with his mother to frame him. They also manipulated his father and he was thrown into prison for what he knew nothing about. What father would send his only blood to prison? All because of a woman.

"So this was the reason you stopped picking my calls Janet. I should have known that you were only after the material things." Arthur said as he directed his gaze from Bryan to his so-called girlfriend. He should have known better.

Girls like Janet were only there for the benefits. "Oh please, cut the crap. What were you expecting? I fold my arm and wait for a thief who went to serve his jail term. I needed money to maintain this beautiful body you see here." Janet retorted as she made a gesture for Arthur to scan her from head to toe.

"Without money, how can I look this spotless? Well, your brother had it all and is so generous with it. How can I stick with a pauper and an ex-convict like you." Janet continued and Bryan nodded approvingly. Arthur could not believe his ears, nor his eyes. Today was indeed a day for drama.

Arthur was lost for words. His brows furrowed and his face continued to redden in anger. With his hands balling into a fist, Arthur threw a glance at the trolley he came with. The heart-wrenching incident had made him forget his primary aim of coming to room 504. He was a staff member and they were guests.

Janet, who followed his gaze let out a smirk. "Aw! My stomach is rumbling." Striding towards Arthur, Janet stopped before him. Her eyes combed his outlook and she snickered. "Room service attendant. I'm hungry, serve me my meal."

Arthur flinched as he took a few steps backward. Really?

"What are you waiting for? Did you not hear what my girlfriend said? Serve us our meal now or you'd be in trouble, loser thief." Bryan backed Janet up and almost got a punch from Arthur. If he wasn't fast enough to evade the punch, he would have gotten a black eye.

"You and your gold digger of a mother set me up and made me drop out of school to serve a three months jail term. How can you be so heartless?" Arthur lamented and earned himself a slap. "You dare insult my mother before my presence. It's one thing I will never tolerate. Maybe the three months you spent in prison were not enough, huh. You wanna spend the rest of your life in prison?"

Wincing in pain, Arthur scurried to give him a punch but Janet stood before her boyfriend preventing Arthur from actualizing his plan. "I dare you to hit him and you'll find yourself without a job. Wait, what am I even waiting for? Prepare say goodbye to your job."

Janet dialed a number and not long after, the hotel manager came running to the room. "What is going on here?"

On seeing Mr Frank, Arthur recoiled in fear because he knew that his job was on the line. Turning to Arthur, the robust man exclaimed. "What the heck did you do to our guests?"

Arthur could not utter a word so Janet decided to help him. "Sir, if this is how you people treat your guests here, then my boyfriend and I would never come here again. How can a staff member of this esteemed establishment come in here and beat up my boyfriend only because we asked him to serve us our meal. Which of course is his job." Janet lied against Arthur. Even though there were some truth in what she said, the lie made her feel better.

Enraged, Mr Frank turned to Arthur. His hands made for Arthur's face. "How dare you disrespect our guests." He blurted out and Arthur tried to explain. "But Sir, that's not exactly how it happened. She used to be my girlfriend and I caught her with another man who happens to be my step brother. I was only trying to confront them. Believe me, I didn't physically abuse anyone."

"Do you even hear yourself." Frank retorted. "What business of mine is it if she is your girlfriend? All I know is that you disrespected our guests and you must be punished. Moreover, how can someone as poor as a church rat take care of a beautiful girl such as this?"

Arthur saw Janet sneer at him, she was enjoying the little drama which she ignited its fire.

Walking over to where Janet was, Bryan held her by the waist at they both smirked at Arthur.

Furrowing his eyebrows in vexation, Mr. Frank declared.

"In fact, you're fired. And before five minutes, I want you to get your sorry self out of this premise."
