Caspian sat in the dining room. It was Monday, the second day of his marriage to Duchess Dillion, a woman he had been forced to care for in a short amount of time.

It was also the first day of the week and there was more to handle. As he sipped his wine, lost in thought, he was suddenly interrupted by the sound of soft footsteps.

Looking up, he saw his daughter, Sonya, standing in the doorway of her room. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of her, her long dark hair falling in waves around her delicate face. She looked so small and vulnerable in the dim light, and he felt a surge of protectiveness towards her.

"Sonya, what are you doing up so late? You should be sleeping now." Caspian asked, reaching out to pick her up and settle her on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his chest.

"I couldn't sleep, Papa," she whispered, her voice barely more than a breath.
