"Simon, please, let me get out of here; James will catch me, and I can't dare Winslow," Collins pleaded urgently, his voice trembling with fear.

"What have you done to him? I told you James was a good person; let's go inside." Simon's tone was firm, his eyes narrowing as he tried to decipher Collins' panicked state.

"Didn't you see Laura in the hall?" Collins asked, desperation evident in his voice.

"Yes, I saw her; I was surprised to see her close to James; I thought you sacked her because of James," Simon replied, confusion mixing with concern in his expression.

"Yes, I did; the mistake I made was reversing the last salary I gave her," Collins admitted, his voice tinged with regret.

"I gifted James a discount on the house he purchased because you told me you gave him something too, and he told me to pay Laura her last payment if at all I wouldn't work with her in the future.
