CHAPTER SEVENTY EIGHT

The female officer realized her fate hung in the balance. If James chose to react to the unfolding situation, it wouldn't be a mere charge for defamation; she could be locked up for instigating a crime, given that she had encouraged James to take the properties to improve his life.

Her eyes widened in horror as she witnessed James retrieving his phone from his pocket. The thought crossed her mind: could he be intending to report her? Panic set in as she questioned herself – did he know whom to call?

"Hello, Brian," she heard James say. Her mind calmed at the mention of Brian; none of the people from the quarter had heard of Brian. She continued eavesdropping on his conversation.

"I need a contact of a high-rank officer," James requested.

"Okay, sir. It will text you now with his name," Brian responded.

The female officer began to tremble as she heard what James asked on the phone. She prayed silently to avoid getting in contact with Garvin.
