147: Needed Humility

The young man clapped his hands in a collected manner and then stated his position, “It’s good to accept it, as I said. Fights are obsolete!”

Luke gave the young boy a quick nod of his head before speaking to him, “Tell me something. You just think that fights are obsolete because you don’t need them to win, do you?”

The young man made a hand gesture and shrugged his shoulders to convey his meaning.

Luke, who had turned around so that he was now facing the younger man, said something, “You know there are things that martial arts give you that are useful!”

When the man spoke, he made a funny face, “Yes, all the former martial artists who faced me said the same thing, and I am here, and they are not, but of course, how could I resist the wish of a dying man? Come tell me. What is it that martial arts can teach me!”

Smiling, Luke looked at him and said, “They can teach you humility. You need it. They can teach you discipline and responsibility...”
