81: Heated Time

Barrett turned his head to look out the window. The night before, the fight was the coldest.

Since he was going to engage in his hundredth battle against him, which day, he could readily recall, he hadn’t felt that sense in quite some time.

She put her cheek on Barrett’s back and entwined her fingers to hold Barrett’s body in her arms. She said, “Why me first? You could have tried to rescue me later, but you decided that I was the one to leave first. Why?”
