Chapter 100
Author: Dreamy Fire
Callum appeared somewhat surprised and then turned his head, calling out, "Hugo, come here and explain what's going on."

To Warren's surprise, Hugo was there, too. He felt a sinking feeling in his gut.

Out of all the connections he had, the most influential person he could reach was Thomas. The others wouldn't even get the chance to step through the door, let alone strike up a conversation with Callum.

Sure enough, Hugo walked up to Warren, who had just started to stand. Without any warning, Hugo kicked him squarely in the chest, sending him stumbling back.

His face was icy as he said, "Warren? I gave you a chance, didn't I? I said by sunset, and clearly, you failed to deliver. Just wait—within a week, your company will be done for."

Even Thomas hadn't expected Hugo to act so brazenly, completely ignoring his presence. Warren was, after all, his guest, and in normal circumstances, even the most disrespectful people would think twice before acting out in front of their host.

Early in the morning, Felix was leisurely strolling through the park in Tabiner Bay, breathing in the fresh air. After a short walk, he paused. His attention was caught by an elderly man who was standing nearby. Beside the old man was a beautiful woman, and a middle-aged man stood a few steps behind them."This old man."Felix studied the elderly man for a moment, hesitating before he finally decided to approach."Grandpa, what do you think of Tabiner Bay?" the woman asked, her bright eyes sparkling. The old man nodded approvingly as he looked around. "It's nice and peaceful. It's a good place to spend my retirement. But, ah… There's no place quite like home."The woman smiled, her eyes full of affection. "There's even a fishing area here. I think it's perfect for you, Grandpa! But I won't have much time to visit you if you stay here. Are you sure you don't want to live with us?"Just as the old man was about to respond, a voice interrupted, "Excuse me, sir."Felix had approa

"Grandpa! Is what he's saying true? How could that be possible?" Sherlyn Holt gasped in disbelief. The old man let out a bitter smile and nodded. "Yes, Sherlyn. Around midnight every night, I've been suffering from severe abdominal pain. I've had my medical team and a few highly regarded doctors examine me privately, but none of them could find the cause. "Since I wasn't experiencing any other issues, I didn't want to worry you, so I kept it from you."After revealing this, his expression grew thoughtful. "I never thought that I would encounter such a young master healer here in Avesburgh at my age. It seems fate is being kind to me."Jairo and Sherlyn were stunned and speechless. How could they believe that Felix, whom they had initially dismissed as a charlatan, was now being hailed as a master healer?"Sherlyn, apologize to him."Taking a deep breath, Sherlyn walked over to Felix and apologized respectfully, "I'm sorry for my rash behavior earlier. Please, forgive me and he

Not long after Felix returned home, the doorbell rang. To his surprise, it was Yvonne, the woman he had met at the cemetery. Felix couldn't help but feel a bit suspicious. Was she following him?Still, he opened the door and stepped outside.Yvonne stood there holding a gift box, her face showing clear surprise when she saw Felix. "Felix? You live here?"Felix nodded. "Yeah. Why do you look so shocked?"Pointing to the villa next door, Yvonne smiled. "What a coincidence! I just moved to Avesburgh and needed a place to stay. A friend recommended Tabiner Bay, and I thought I should introduce myself to the neighbors. I never expected it to be you!"Felix laughed at the unlikely twist. "Well, now that you know it's me, there's no need to bring any gifts."Yvonne's genuine personality was becoming more evident to Felix, and he realized that Phillip's support of her years ago hadn't been shortsighted."Honestly, I'm a bit envious," Yvonne admitted with a playful smile. "That bastard, Felix! You invited him to dinner, and he's over 20 minutes late!" Belle complained angrily.Xena, however, remained calm. "It's fine. He has his reasons for being upset. But if he can't even handle this, it only confirms what I've always thought of him—he won't achieve much."After a pause, something seemed to cross her mind. "Have we heard anything from Joe?"Belle shook her head. "No. We haven't been able to reach him. I don't know what's going on with him. He just disappeared without a word. It's strange."Jordan's sudden and unexpected disappearance was weighing on Xena's mind. She knew why he had returned to Avesburgh—he was clearly trying to pursue her again. But for him to vanish just days later didn't add up."Never mind. If we can't contact him, there's no use worrying. He might have his reasons."At that moment, the door to the private room opened, and Felix finally walked in."Felix! Do you even know what time it is? Who shows up this late?" Belle shout

Callum didn't take Wendy's warning seriously at all. "Let it be. It's time you both met some of the connections my father has. Maybe this will help spark some chemistry between Hugo and Wendy," he muttered confidently. He knew very well what gave Wendy her confidence—Felix's connection to Kane. But could Kane really dominate all of Avesburgh? The answer was obviously no.…Meanwhile, night had fallen at Tabiner Bay, and Wendy was sitting on the couch in Felix's villa, her face tense."What brings you here tonight?" Felix asked, genuinely curious. He knew her visit wasn't about the herbs this time."Felix, I'm sorry," she said suddenly. Her unexpected apology made him frown. "What do you mean?"For Wendy to show up personally, Felix knew it had to be something significant."It's about Hugo. I couldn't stop him, and now, he's made his move. I only just found out when my father and I went to talk with his father, Callum. Unfortunately, it didn't help. They seem to be relying on

Earlier, everyone had been at the entrance to welcome the guests. To be honest, Hugo couldn't see anything particularly special about the elderly man. He was sitting in an 80-thousand-dollar Cadillac CT6, accompanied by a middle-aged man and a beautiful woman.Unexpectedly, the elderly man was actually so formidable."I'm not sure about Mr. Holt's status, but he's undoubtedly significant. Dealing with Lord Kane should be a breeze for him. Even your grandpa said that Mr. Holt maintains ties with our family because of your great-aunt."After saying that, Callum suddenly became serious. "Have you developed feelings for that young lady?"Although Hugo didn't respond directly, his eyes spoke volumes."Keep your feelings in check! You're not in a position to touch that woman. The gap between you and her is too vast to bridge. Focus on dealing with Wendy. That plan is critical, and we cannot fail."Was it that serious? Before Hugo could process his thoughts, a Mercedes G-Wagon drove i

Seeing Callum's confidence, Kane shook his head and waved his hand, signaling Stinger and his team to release Hugo and step back."Very well, Callum. I'm curious to see what kind of backup you have to defeat me."Felix had ordered this task, and Kane needed to handle it thoroughly with no loose ends. Any hint of trouble reaching Felix would be seen as a serious dereliction of duty."Ha! You're indeed someone of great stature, Lord Kane. Your action now might help you avoid some blame."At this moment, four people emerged from the house behind them—two elderly men, a middle-aged man, and a beautiful woman."Kane, is it true that you're here to take Hugo?" Once they stopped, Callum's father, Edward Lambert, was the first to speak. His tone carried a certain air of authority."Indeed. He has crossed the wrong people. What problem could there be with me taking him away?"After saying that, Kane shifted his gaze to Ernest, who was standing next to Edward.Despite Ernest's plain appe

Felix was satisfied with this outcome. Ernest did not immediately drive Kane out because of Hugo."Felix Zeller? How dare you show up?" Hugo sneered upon seeing Felix."The Lord Kane you were so proud of will leave defeated. Do you really think you can turn things around? What a joke!"Before Hugo could continue, Callum slapped him across the face. "Shut up! This is not your place to speak."What a foolish son! With Ernest present, Hugo should be trying to make a good impression as an innocent party. His provocation only served to bring momentary pleasure and greater loss."Sir?" Ernest, recognizing Felix, immediately stepped forward to stand in front of him."Mr. Holt Senior, it's a surprise to see you again so soon," Felix greeted.Following behind, Sherlyn had a surprised expression."Are you the one with a grudge against Hugo?" Ernest, being an elder, could quickly discern the situation. Before Felix could respond, Edward was already anxious. "Do you know him, Mr. Holt Sen

Their only remaining son followed behind. However, only Lincoln was left beside the corpse, mourning like he had lost his soul. "Please, get up. Wagner was extremely happy. "Kathlynn! You're finally awake!"After Kathlynn shook herself awake, she looked down at her body, confused. She felt around and muttered, "I'm… I'm completely healed? I can only feel a slight ache now… What happened?"The last thing she remembered was the moment she was attacked. The injury was so horrible that she couldn't forget the feeling. She thought she was a goner for sure."We got lucky. We found a doctor in Innswood Village, and he saved you."A doctor? She followed Wagner's finger and was surprised. A doctor from a village could actually help her?As she thought of this, she stood up and said, "Thank you for saving me

He shall kneel and pray before Quinley's body before compensating her family with 100 silver coins!"The rough man almost fainted when he heard the request. "Kneel and pray? How dare you ask me to do that?"Him, a fighter, kneeling to a mere villager? How could he withstand such humiliation? Even Wagner was furious by this request. He looked at Kathlynn lying on the bed and held back."Follow the chief and do as you're told!" There was a clang as the tool in Lincoln's hand fell to the ground. He rushed outside, grabbing the woman who sent them the news."What? She screamed, "I don't want to live anymore. I want to die!" Just then, a man's voice came from behind her, "Why are you crying? Your daughter is lucky that I took a liking to her! Yet, she slapped me and forced my hand to kill her. She got off easy!"He was a rough-looking man, and he glared at the woman in contempt. The woman, Quinley's mother, Susan McLoughlin, wanted to rush forward in anger, but Leandre quickly stopped her. Even with everyone in the village, they couldn't fight against these brutes. Susan would die if she rushed up to fight the man now."I'm going to kill you!" she screamed again. Leandre held her back, but he couldn't stop Lincoln, whose face w

However, Quinley's family disapproved of him, as he had been incompetent with a disabled father before. But now, with Lincoln learning medical skills from Felix, of course, her family had a different opinion now."Lincoln, help me send Quinley off."While eating, Felix wondered whether he should leave or not. He hadn't seen anyone else outside of the village for a whole month now. Leandre seemed quite knowledgeable, but he was also wary of Felix. So, it was almost impossible to get information from him. When the sun was about to set, Lincoln suddenly ran in. "Mr. Zeller! "Although I haven't exactly experienced it, I keep feeling that there's something terrifying in the darkness…"Leandre nodded. "That's for sure. Otherwise, how could so many people have died? Even the powerful fighters never return once they leave for Desolated Lands at night."Felix had a feeling that Leandre might be hinting at something else, but he pretended not to notice and turned to look at the fire in the east. Maybe it's because you talked about all this. It helped jog my memory. Thank you, Lincoln."Lincoln grew excited. "Then, Felix, can you heal my father's legs? I didn't know Leandre was so wary of outsiders."Felix chuckled. "It's fine. I'm just grateful he let me stay the night."Innswood Village was visibly poor. There was not a single brick house in sight.
