THE SOUND OF a car drew me out of my reverie. I recognized the sound as that of my Dad's Bentley. He had gotten it s few months after we moved here. I glanced at the bedside clock and calculated that I had been here for close to 3 hours.

I sat up and walked to my room's window and watched him as he drove the car through the sgirt driveway and into the garage. I heard him park the car and enter the house using the inner door from the garage.

"Hi, Dad." I said fr the doorway.

He looked startled and surprised to see me.

"Jason." He said, when he managed ti recover from the shock. "What in hell's name are you doing here?" He asked.

I shrugged, not thinking of a sensible enough answer to give him.

He understood me because he just gave me a sad look.

"You having those nightmares again?" He asked.

I shook my head.

It was not the nightmares.

Something colder.

Something deeper.

Like a sensation that something really bad was about to happen.

I looked around me. 5 dead bodies. What was happening to me?I tried to clench my fists but I was holding something. I raised my hand to my face and saw I was holding something long and fat. Like a bloody rubber pipe. It was with a sickening sensation that I realized I was holding the large intestine of a man. My stomach cramped in disgust as I opened my finger and it slid down with a wet slurp! to the floor. Then the pain came. More than I've ever felt since I started wearing the cuffs. Like my soul was being pulled away from my body and placed in hell. It came in waves. How labour contractions would feel like, I guess, with the next one ten times worse than the previous. I went on one knee. And shut my eyes. And tried to fight it. I was afraid of blacking out. Who knows who would wake me up… a random passers by? The cops?I gathered all my willpower and strength and got up shakily. I grabbed my laptop bag from the floor and staggered away. The pain continuously washed o

THE WEEK PASSED in a blur. And there was no news about the dead men. The men we killed, my Cat corrected me. I scoffed. Yeah right. History and Anthropology today again. I sighed as i rushed into the lecture hall. I had not even done the assignment given by the professor. I sighed again at the sight of the serious looking students as we all found a seat and prepared to sit down. The hall was built like a stadium. The seat were set like stairs in an upward progressive fashion. It was able to sit about 250 students. There were aisle for easy movements at intervals. The lecturer's desk and board were at the front of the class, before the first student desk. A projector was whirring above near the front lights. I entered through the back door and into the top and farthest row. I picked my way down and found my way down to the middle of hall where I took a seat beside a quite plain looking girl with hair the colour of burning ginger. Where did that come from? I scoffed to myself a

A OWL HOOTED in the distance. The moon was full and bright casting a ghostly pale blue light everywhere. Throwing places in dark utmost shadows. The whole area was quiet and still. Or so it seemed. The cemetery was especially creepy tonight. This was because the temple at the south wall was a bee hive of activities. Being a natural born pure blooded witch from a strong bloodline is not as easy as it sounds. Allison can tell you all about that. About how hard it is. About how disturbing it is when people look at you and immediately think that you should be a powerful witch. She got introduced to magic as soon as she was born, being that both of her parents were witch and wizard. It was nothing new. But her parents had wanted her to live a normal life. A life without the weight of their bloodline pulling down the child. So they sent her to a human preschool, elementary, middle and high school. That was the plan though. Her mother died a few years later when Allison was 6. Some kind of cancer. Maybe cancer of the colon or something. Nobody was sure. She was left with her father who was almost like her best friend. He had insured her education through the middle and high school. He always made out time for her. Reading. Playing. Practicing magic which was normally forbidden at her age. She

I watched calmly as the ginger colour haired girl took a deep breath and then heaved herself up. She took one glance at me. I stuck out my right hand, "Jason Beckham." She took a look at my outstretched hand and snorted, refusing to take it. Then she said, "I do not know what were talking about, Mr… Beckham. I certainly do not know about any cuffs or magic or werewolves or Vampires." She stood up shakily on her legs, packed her things and walked wobbly out of the door. She was lying!I knew she was lying. She knew she was lying. She knew that I knew she was lying! What could she possibly be hiding from? And what did she do to warrant cuffing? Only one way to find out. I walked out of the half opened door she had left behind and sauntered to professor Gilbert of History and Anthropology's office. I had never been to his office before. I stood outside the door and could feel the cold strong draft of the air conditioner from within the office. Boldly written on gold letters was

THE NIGHT WAS still young. Relatively, it was.It was just 10pm and night life was just awakening. Traffic was thick. The alleys were dark and suspicious activities were going on. Roland took the young lady, Rosetta’s hand and noticed how cold it was.She was probably feeling cold. The weather is quite chilly, he thought to himself. It would be up to him to drive away that cold in her tonight. He smiled at the prospect as she led him outside. "Did you drive here?" She turned to ask him. "Yes yes, but it does not matter." Roland said. "I will just call for the car later." "Ohh…in that case." She gestured to her car. "I'll drive."She led him to her car. A small silver corvette. With all the smooth curves and sexy whine of an engine sound. It looked feminine. Like what a lady like Rosetta would drive. He backed her to the car and captured her mouth with his. She arched her body to fit perfectly with his as she returned the kiss with gusto. He moaned as one of her hand went up his neck and another deftly found its way into his trouser fly and stroked his length gently. He forced his tongue into her mouth to assert his dominance as his dick jerked in resp

A thick mark of a whitish grainy substance was drawn on the stone floor. The room was dark but Rosetta and Sofia could see what they where doing. "Dried and ground wolfsbane." Sofia said, as she picked the grainy powder with her fingers and let it pour. "Walk in." She said, turning to a naked Roland. The mark was like that of a wide circle, with a smaller circle inside the big one. There were some strange markings in the space between the two circles. "Stand in the middle." Sofia's voice rang out, echoing in the darkness. Roland walked in obediently. Sofia moved closer to the circle of wolfsbane, brought out a small ivory curved knife and slit her wrist. Her blood dripped and soaked the powdered wolfsbane on the floor. She muttered something under her breath. The blood flowed down and ran round the outer circle, soaking it all round. She gestured with her other hand to Rosetta, who stood still in a dark corner, following everything that was going on with her eyes. She scuttle

His eyes lingered on me before he moved on to Jake.“I came to pay my last respect. Your father was a good man and a strong Alpha.” He said and turned and walked away before any of us could say a

SHE PULLED ME up with ease. I searched her eyes for any knowledge that I was banished and the reason behind it.I did not find any. Just the warm brown familiar eyes of and her wide smile. She was really happy to see me.“How have you been?” She asked, pulling me into a tight hug.My arms wrapped around her waist and I inhaled the nice fragrance from her hair. We stayed in the hug for some seconds before she pulled back and I noticed a squat figure just behind her.“Oh, this is Grem.” She said. “He’s a dwarf.”I looked closely at this strange creature, barely reaching up to my knees with large feet and hands and big black eyes too.“We have them at the pack now. Not as slaves, though. Of course not.” She said, laughing. “More like an exchange of relationship, we offer them food and shelter and protection and they run the chores of the pack. Like cooking and cleaning.”I made the appropriate noise to that because she nodded and continued. “Dad wanted to offer them money too, you know.

A THICK SILENCE filled the air at the cabin. The fire still burned outside but not on its own now. It cackled loudly and the pungent odour of burning human flesh hung heavy in the air. Clyde was seated at a couch opposite Rosetta. Roland was standing in a dark corner, his ankles were crossed and arms folded.Henri stood near the window in his regular pose – one hand in his pocket and the other, holding his stick. But this time, he held the stick at the middle, the head of the stick was hooked to the curtain, drawing it back and opened slightly so there was a thin slice of moonlight casted over his features.Sofia came in from casting a burning spell on Tom’s body, her hands were tucked inside her robes. Clyde turned to her. She gave a brief nod and then settled herself down on the chair in front of the fireplace.“You have been staring at that too much, lately.” Henri pointed, letting go of the curtain and gesturing with the hand holding his stick towards the fire.Sofia nodded. It mi

MY MIND WAS in a turmoil. Mum left yesterday, or was it two days ago?I lost track of time. Then Dad was called too. He left last night. And that was how I ended up alone in America. But he was quiet as Sofia and Clyde bustled around in preparation for the ritual. It was to hold in the night at the backyard. THE DRIVE WAS quiet. Neither man spoke, even their breathing was muffled and very quiet. While Henri paid his full attention on the road, Roland gaze flicked lazily out the window and over the ever changing scenery as Henri drove about 50 miles per hour over the speed limit. Roland kept expecting them to be flagged down but they were not. The car drove on heavily and soundly. The outside world changed from mountains and hills to random small houses and patches of farm to large ranches to a developed part of town with skyscrapers to flats and plains and finally thick trees. “The next turn on your right.” Roland said. Henri did not give any indication that he heard but he turned at the next turn. They drove on that lane for close to 10 minutes before Roland said, “Turn here.” “There’s no road.” Henri said. “Just turn.” Henri swerved sharply into the dirt and the Bentley bounced and groaned as the tires crushed the dry grass and gravel. There, in the middle of a large expanse of

The conversation had mainly been carried on by Preston, Drakys III and Faerie and Zhao.Drakys had suggested a centaur absent-mindedly.“A Centaur can’t take on an alpha werewolf on his territory.” Preston has countered. “Besides centaurs don’t just go on a killing spree.”Faeries had said, agreeing with Preston. “None of you had any bad blood with the alpha, do you.”There was shaking of heads all around the table.Faerie yawned a dainty yawn.
