Chapter Twenty-Three

The tension in the house was unpalatable. Anyone in the mansion could feel it. Roger Jackson ate his pancakes while scrolling his phone as if he was absent from the present.

Lucinda returned with honey in a ceramic honey jar. This caught everyone’s attention. The three men stared at her, their eyes asking, “has anyone asked for honey?”

“Young masters, master.” Lucinda began. Roger placed the table down, knowing very well whatever would come out of Lucinda’s mouth would be nothing but a stupid idea. “You should talk as a family. Make Milton feel at home.”

The staff crumbled at the door with their ears on the door waiting to hear what the Jacksons will reply.

“I have lost my appetite.” Bryson slapped a pancake on the table.

“Bryson, don’t you dare move from that chair,” Roger ordered; his expression unreadable. He then addressed Luciana, “You may leave.”

Luciana shrugged, “I tried.”
