Chapter Forty

Milton held Samantha as she cried her eyes out. She couldn’t go to Warren since they had decided on what to do. She couldn’t do that to Warren. Neither could she go to her brother since she heard he was hunting her down.

So, for now, Milton’s arms were her safe space.

Milton’s mind was jumbled. He wanted to return to the college and be bullied. To wash houses and be pushed down. To scrub the toilets and later on sleep knowing he has been paid for his hard work.

No one told him having money and being surrounded by rich people was work itself. This was too much.

Little did he know this was just the beginning.

Samantha agreed to the arranged marriage and soon, they were going to tie the knot. Once she was a member of the Jacksons, she would face her brother and apologize. Or so she thought.

She recalled seeing her father agitated. But that was how he had been, always. She regretted not asking him.

“Milton. My heart is breaking.” She bawled.
