"How do you feel?" Jessica curiously scrutinized Edward, as if something amazing had happened to him.
Edward sat up hastily from the bed, asking nervously, "Who... who are you?"
Jessica didn't seem in a rush to reveal her true identity and said, "Call me Jessica. Yesterday, you collapsed on the street, and I happened to pass by and saved you."
"As a return favor, can you answer a doubt for me? When I rescued you, your back had suffered a severe gunshot wound, but strangely... after taking you to the hospital, the doctors told me there was nothing wrong with you. The wound even disappeared."
"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and saw the large bloodstains on your back, I wouldn't have believed such a miraculous event." Jessica blinked, filled with curiosity in her beautiful eyes.
Edward furrowed his brows, sensing a strange and powerful force within him, feeling an affinity with natural elements around, as if he could effortlessly manipulate them with a wave of his hand.
"Really... it's real! It's not a dream!" Edward seemed lost in thought momentarily, murmuring to himself.
"You, I saved you, and you don't even say thank you? You are impolite!" Jessica rolled her eyes and said.
Only then did Edward come to his senses, slightly embarrassed as he thanked, "Jessica, thank you for saving me. I'm Edward Flamel."
Seeing Edward in this awkward state, Jessica couldn't help but chuckle.
She found this man somewhat cute and quite interesting.
But suddenly, Jessica crouched down, clutching her chest, grimacing in pain, trembling all over.
At that moment, a man dressed as a doctor rushed in, holding a glass of water and a few pills in his hand.
"Miss, you should take your medicine!" the doctor urged.
Enduring the pain, Jessica looked up at the doctor, taking the medicine and water from his hands.
Her once lovely and beautiful face now pale, seeming as if she had endured torture.
Edward watched the beauty who had saved him in pain and couldn't help but ask, "Jessica, are you feeling not good?"
Glancing at him, Jessica replied in pain, "Yes, angina, an old ailment to me."
In Edward's mind, there were many alchemical techniques instantly surfacing that could potentially cure her disease from its roots!
However, having never practiced them in reality, Edward hesitated.
He sat there blankly, watching Jessica finish the painkillers.
Yet, even after taking the medication, her symptoms only slightly subsided, her complexion still pale.
Seeing this, Edward took a deep breath, mustering courage to walk up to Jessica, "Jessica, let me try. Perhaps I can heal your illness!"
Hearing his words, a hint of surprise flickered in Jessica's eyes.
During Edward's unconsciousness, she had her subordinates look up information about him.
A son-in-law of a small family, also a loser vet running a small and terrible clinic.
Struggling to speak, she said, "It is not ordinary angina. Even the world's top medical experts and professors couldn't diagnose the cause; it's incurable. I can only rely on painkillers to ease the pain, but my body is gradually developing tolerance..."
Edward quickly explained, "I won't treat it using medical means. It's difficult to explain, but... I still want to try."
This time, Jessica thought about it seriously.
She remembered the mysteries that had occurred on Edward, the disappearing wounds and bullets!
Perhaps he could indeed solve this long-standing heartache for her.
However, the doctor beside her suddenly sneered, "You? You haven't performed any proper medical examination on patient, so you're going to treat her without identifying the cause first? Are you joking us? I even doubt if you are a doctor!"
His words were so reasonable that Edward couldn’t refute.
After all, his treatment method actually belongs to Occultism; and he’s a vet but not a doctor.
Edward's face turned red with embarrassment, feeling hard to explain.
"I've seen many like you! Seeing a beautiful and wealthy lady, you guys want to get close to her, then pursue her, right?"
"Let me guess...Does your treatment method require intimate contact?"
Edward grew even more embarrassed, answering with a forced tone, "It does, but I..."
"Miss, did you hear that? He just wants to get your attention through this method!" the doctor coldly remarked.
Jessica remained composed, looking at Edward calmly, saying, "Do you know the consequences of yourself if deceive me?"
Edward hurriedly explained, "No... no, I'm not deceiving you, I'm serious."
"Hmph, ridiculous! Don't believe this charlatan, Miss," the doctor said angrily.
Staring at Edward seriously for a few seconds, Jessica finally spoke, "I'll give you a chance. If you cure me, you will be richly rewarded."
"Miss, you can't..."
"Shut up!"
The doctor wanted to advise further but was sternly interrupted by Jessica.
The doctor was silenced, although reluctant, he obediently stepped back.
"What should I do, Dr. Flamel?" Jessica asked with a hint of playfulness.
Edward's face turned red, shyly saying, "Please take off some of your clothes and lie down on the bed. I need to place my hand on your left chest..."
While Looking down, Edward could see Jessica's voluptuous chest that appeared particularly enticing.
