The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Immune Booster
“What happened, Harry? Talk to me.” Jason said after a few seconds, and Harry sighed heavily before he began to tell his story. “It happened way before I started working for your family. I was just sixteen and in high school. I had almost everything going well for me and my brother. We were almost inseparable and were always seen together. He was in his twelfth grade while I was a freshman.” Harry started with a low tone while Jason listened attentively. A few seconds later, the door opened from outside, and a nurse walked in with a tray carefully placed in her right hand. “Oh! I am sorry, I didn't know anyone was still inside. I could come back when no one is around.” The nurse expressed so much conflict in her as she attempted to turn around and walk out of the ward. “That won’t be necessary, nurse. You came to do your job, and do your job you must.” Jason responded at once, looking at the nurse with a smile, but she was unable to maintain eye contact with him, and it was ve

For a few seconds, the Doctor was silent as she wondered what was going on in the room. She looked at the nurse who managed to turn around to look at her while her hands couldn’t stop shaking. “Yes, I am aware of it. I asked the nurse to inject it into the IV bag. That's an immune booster.” Brenda confirmed, and Jason nodded in satisfaction. “You were right.” He said to the nurse who heaved a heavy sigh of relief, and it was visible that she had released so much tension in her body. “Is everything okay, nurse?” Brenda looked at the nurse who managed to nod after a few seconds, and then she looked at Jason to be sure that he wasn’t going to change his mind. “Are you sure about that? You look troubled.” “I am fine, Doctor.” The nurse managed to say with a shaky voice and after Brenda had observed her for a while, she sighed before going closer to her and demanded for the syringe in her right hand. “Let me have that,” Brenda said, extending her right hand toward the syringe t

Brenda nodded, and then she started to move toward the door with slow but steady steps“Go get something to eat, Young Master. I will watch over Lord Walker, and if there is any new development, I will definitely give you a call.” Harry assured with a smile which showed that he was so glad that Jason listened to him. “Make sure none of the guards leaves their positions, Harry.” “Understood, Young Master.” Harry nodded, and then he signaled to Jason to inform him that Brenda was finding it difficult to open the door. “Let me help you get that.” Jason quickly walked up to the door and opened it for the Doctor who chuckled as she walked out of the ward, carrying the tray with both hands. “You have nothing to worry about, Young Master. Go have some fun.” Harry said to Jason when he saw him turning to look at his Grandfather for the last time. Taking in a deep breath, Jason exhaled sharply, and then he left the ward before shutting the door behind him. He met Bruce, Ramon, Jam

Jason looked at the waitress, and he couldn’t help but notice that her outfit was different from most of the outfits that were worn by some of the waiters and waitresses in restaurants. She wore a red velvet skirt that had pearls attached in a straight line from the waist of the skirt down to its edge. Her white shirt had lovely embroideries that were irresistible to admire, and she also wore a red beret that had a large pearl attached to its center and was visible to the eyes of anyone who was going to look at her. Her black shoes also had pebbles attached to them, giving them a unique look that was also irresistible to admire. Jason was forced to look around to see if the rest of the waitresses and waitresses had the same outfit, and he could see that they were dressed exactly the same way. “Sir?” “Yes.” Jason quickly turned to look at the waitress who politely called out to him after waiting for a few seconds without him saying anything. “What would you like to have?” “
The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Petty Arrogance
An expression of unpleasant recognition appeared on Brenda’s face as soon as she saw the man looking at her with a smile on his face while he stood with a lady in a red velvet gown holding onto him. He wore a grey suit and held onto the car remote of the Bentley which he couldn't stop flashing just for everyone to see. “Marcelo,” Brenda whispered as a scowl appeared on her face instantly while she looked at the man who started to walk closer to her as soon as he confirmed that she was the one. Jason looked at Brenda, and he could see that with every step Marcelo took to get closer to her, she shivered slightly, blinking her eyes to express fear. It was obvious that the memories she had of Marcelo were unpleasant. “I can see that you have moved on so quickly, funny,” Marcelo said with a smirk on his face, and after he had looked at Jason for a while, he sniggered as soon as he returned his gaze to Brenda whose breath suddenly became unstable. “I can also say the same about yo

“What's so funny? Huh?” Marcelo asked angrily, vexed at how Jason was laughing at him. “I am sorry, man. It’s just that it appears that all you do is spend Daddy’s money without making any input. Don’t you think that buying a diamond ring with the meager income your father makes from his business is way too much?” Jason said with a smirk on his face, looking at Marcelo who growled angrily. “And what do you know about my father's company? Who do you think you are? Are you a car dealer?” Marcelo fired back at once, but Jason stood still while he chuckled softly before he responded to him. “Trust me, I am stronger and mightier than that. You see, Marcelo…” Jason said with a resonant tone, and then he cleared his throat before he continued. “Today, you walked into your oblivion yourself, and it is a day of reckoning for you. The day you pay for all your sins. I wonder why the lady here chose to wed you.” “That’s none of your business! How dare you threaten me? Do you know who my

In less than a minute, Jason was done with his call, and then he pocketed his phone before he turned to look at Brenda who was looking at Marcelo, and the signs of fright were still visible on her face, even in her eyes. Jason sighed heavily, and then he walked up to her grabbed her by her hands, and slowly led her to one of the seats at the table. “Come, take a seat.” He said calmly, and slowly, he led her to sit down until he was sure that she was comfortable. “There you go. I don’t want you worrying about anything, Brenda. That fool deserves everything that is happening to him and more. Here…” Jason grabbed the glass of wine in front of Brenda and handed it over to her. “Have some wine, and let me handle this, okay?” Jason said with a smile, and then he turned to walk away, but Brenda quickly grabbed his arm and dragged him backward. “What are you going to do to him? Will you kill him?” She asked with so much worry written on her face while Jason chuckled before giving he

Jason lifted his head, and when he saw them standing close to the door after they walked into the restaurant, he nodded in satisfaction, picked up a napkin from the table, and wiped his mouth. The two guards scoured the restaurant with their eyes, and as soon as they saw James who waved at them, they quickly hurried to Jason and bowed before him one after the other. “You sent for us, Young Master.” “Oh, yes! You are here on time.” Jason nodded, and then he grabbed the glass of wine from the table and took a sip before he slowly stood up from his seat with Brenda looking at him with so much curiosity. As soon as he saw that Jason was up, Marcelo continued mumbling loud words and struggled to get away from James who was so determined not to let him get away from his tight grip. The two guards who arrived recently looked at Marcelo, wondering what he had done, but when they saw the way he was being held and with the napkin stuck inside his mouth, they figured that he must have

Shirley was silent for a while, but the men standing close to her knew that she was thinking of the right answer to give to them, so they didn’t mind waiting until she was ready to speak. Eventually, she figured out what to tell them, and sighed heavily before she spoke with a loud whisper, trying as much as she could to be audible enough. “There was this man, he came looking for my son a few weeks ago. He said he stole something from him, and that he was meant to pay back for it. I told him that my son was not home, but he said he knew where to find him. He left and never came back.” Shirley sniffled, suppressing the extra tears that tried to roll down her face from her eyes. “When my son came back, I tried to warn him about the strange man, but he never listens. I pleaded with him to go far away, but he is as stubborn as his father. A week later, some men came to the house and took us. They blindfolded us and took us to this beautiful house where there were a lot of guards.”

For over an hour, Jason and the Butler remained seated, waiting patiently for Brenda to return with some news. The silence between them was laced with a little tension, but they were hopeful that something positive was going to come out of their adventure. Ignoring the lady who was secretly taking pictures of him with her smart phone, Jason adjusted himself before clearing his throat. He turned to face Harry, and spoke with a low tone. “Harry? Can I ask you something?” “Sure, Young Master! Anything at all.” Harry adjusted slowly, ready to hear what Jason was going to say to him. “Do you think the boy will be willing to come with us if he is real? Again, how do you think I am meant to handle a situation like this? I mean, the boy could be in a very bad mess, and I would have to pull him out of it.” Jason sighed, unable to discard the worrisome look on his face. But the middle-aged man had a smile on his face, and before giving him a response, he chuckled softly. “I know y

Joe’s Cafe
The waitress discovered that two men were walking toward her, and adjusting herself with a welcoming smile on her face, she greeted them warmly. “Hello, Sir. Welcome to Joe’s Café. Do you need anything?” “Yes. Hello. We are looking for a lady called Shirley. I was told she works here.” Jason said with a smile as well, looking at the waitress whose countenance showed that she didn’t know who he was talking about. “Shirley? I don’t think I know any Shirley who works here, Sir. I am new here, but I can get you someone who could know.” “Yes, please! Thank you so much.” Harry said calmly, gesturing to the waitress who nodded before walking away, holding onto the small notepad and pen she had in her hands. “I really hope this ends well,” Jason said with a whisper, sighing firstly while he kept his eyes on the path the waitress took. The waitress returned in less than a minute with another waitress who looked older and more experienced than her. “Hello, Sirs. My name is Nora. I

For a few seconds, Jason remained silent, but it didn’t seem like that was going to solve anything. The old man was still waiting to get a response from him, and Harry was interested to know the outcome of their meeting as well. Adjusting himself to get a more comfortable posture, Jason cleared his throat and sighed before he spoke with a voice that almost sounded like a whisper. “He has a son.” He said calmly, but his words were too heavy for the other men in the room to remain as calm as he was. Lord Walker knew Jason to be a man who didn’t joke with such things but for a second, he remained calm, hoping that he was going to say he was joking. Maybe he meant to say something else. “A son?” “Yes, Grandpa. He has a son.” “Julius has a son?” Lord Walker leaned forward, and grabbed the half-empty glass of water which he consumed before returning it to the table. “Are you okay, Lord Walker?” Harry asked, moving closer to the old man who raised his hands to stop him from g

The rays from the sunlight were shining brightly through the casement windows inside the bedroom. The curtains were half closed, giving way to the rays that hit Brenda’s eyes while she groaned in her sleep. As though there was a force, she opened her eyes instantly, only to behold the sight of shirtless Jason sitting close to her with a tray in both hands. “Wakie wakie! I was worried that too were not going to wake up on time to see this.” Jason had a beautiful smile on his face while he looked at Brenda who adjusted herself slowly, sitting up while she looked at the tray he was carrying. “What’s that?” “Oh! This? I made you breakfast! I had to wake up early just to make sure that everything worked as I planned. Here…” Jason opened the dish cover to reveal the egg and sausages on the plate next to a cup of black coffee. “I tried making the coffee just like you do. I hope I tried.” Jason handed the cup of coffee to Brenda who blew on the coffee before taking a sip. “Easy! I

Special Announcement
While everyone sat comfortably, eating and drinking everything that had been set on the table, Jason picked up the glass of wine in front of him, and after looking at his Grandfather and getting the signal from him, he nodded before lifting the glass. “I have a special announcement!” He hit his fork on the brim of the glass, drawing the attention of everyone seated at the table who instantly put a hold t what they were doing, and paid keen attention to him. Everyone seemed curious to know what he was about to say except the old man who was already done eating his veggies and wiped his lips with a napkin while he maintaining a grin on his face. “First of all, I want to thank Harry for bringing his lovely family to dinner. It’s such a pleasure to have you all here. Family is everything, family is life, and I am happy that he has such a beautiful family.” Jason lifted the glass toward Harry who bowed gently, still wondering what he was up to. “Harry here has been working with thi

Jason was the first to step out of the hot tub before Brenda joined him. Handing over one of the two towels he grabbed to her, he gave her a lovely smile which made her blush while she grabbed the towel, and wrapped her body with it. “You are still staring.” Brenda said with her smile intact, but Jason couldn’t take his eyes away from her, not even for a second. “What am I going to ever do without you? You have brought me so much joy, Brenda.” “Nothing, Jay. You are going to do nothing.” Brenda chuckled while Jason nodded without getting rid of his smile. “You are right. Absolutely nothing, that’s what I am going to do if I ever lose you.” “Well, I am not leaving anytime soon. I am here with you, my love.” Brenda patted Jason on both cheeks before she turned and walked toward the bedroom, holding onto her towel with both hands. “We must hurry, Jay! Price to Pay
For a few seconds Jason was silent while he exchanged glances with the couple, not sure of who he was to face. It was obvious that they were expecting to hear him speak, but the silence in the room was killing them, having more effect on Lucas who couldn’t forget the words he said to him. He was afraid that the day of reckoning had come, and it was time to pay for all his crimes. Still unable to stop himself from finger mg, especially at the sight of Ramon who gave him threatening looks, Lucas decided to grab his bottle, hoping to get back some of his composure from a gulp. “What’s that?” Jason’s calm words stopped Lucas from grabbing the bottle from the ground, causing him to remain still while he lifted his face slowly to look at him, patches of guilt all over his face. “I can’t believe this.” Jason scoffs. “You really want to drink right now. You have really drowned yourself in so much alcohol. I bet you dream of drinking while you sleep.” Jason sighed softly, and remain

Everyone remained silent amidst the tension that surrounded the air. While Lucas kept his eyes on Jason who remained still with a smirk on his face, he struggled with the contemplation of either remaining where he was standing, or moving backward. For a second, he took two steps backward, but because it felt as though his body no longer belonged to him, he couldn’t move afterward. “Hello… Dad. I see you haven’t left your old habits.” Jason pointed at the bottle of whiskey which Lucas tightly held onto even in the midst of the cringe that engulfed him. “It’s you.” Lucas’ voice was shaky. And while he held onto the half-empty bottle, he gently lifted it up to look at it, filled with thoughts of his numerous drinking adventures. It was true that he was intoxicated at that moment, but the sight of Jason and his companions made the effects of the whiskey wear off at once, leaving him to struggle with the situation. “I am just going to let myself in. Excuse me…” Jason gestured to
