The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Ex-Convict
There were a few seconds of silence in the room while Lord Walker continued to look at his Grandson whose reaction was impossible to read. Almost immediately, Lord Walker’s phone began to ring, causing everyone to turn to look at Harry who was holding the phone inside his jacket. Harry also looked at the phone which had not been ringing for a while, especially ever since Jason was found. “Who could that be?” Lord Walker asked the Butler who slowly dipped his hand into his jacket and brought the phone which was still ringing and vibrating at the same time. “It’s an unknown caller,” Harry announced while looking at Lord Walker who couldn’t stop himself from being more curious to know who the caller was. “Find out who it is.” Lord Walker instructed while Jason adjusted himself, turning to face Harry who answered the call and placed the phone on his right ear, listening to hear what the caller was going to say from the other end of the line. “Who is it?” Jason asked with a low t
The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. The Only Way
Hearing the suggestion the Butler made, Jason and his Grandfather began to give it a thought instantly. But while Jason was considering it as a good idea, Lord Walker was struggling with himself to make up his mind. “Grandpa? I think he has a point. We should definitely get to him before he gets to us. He sounded really dangerous, and we have to be very careful.” Jason said with a low tone, and then he turned to look at Harry. “Get the boys ready, Harry. We are going to find him before he comes to us…” “No!” Lord Walker said at once, causing Jason to look at him with so much curiosity written all over his face. “No, Jack. Don’t for that…” Lord Walker at once. His utterance caused Jason to widen his eyes in shock, wondering why he made such an utterance.“Why not, Grandpa? He poses a great threat to us.” “Because…” Lord Walker paused for a few seconds while Jason kept his eyes on him, waiting to hear the rest of what he intended to say. “Why Grandpa? Why don’t you want us
The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Make Amends
Left with no choice, Lord Walker had to agree with what his Grandson said. Taking in a deep breath, he exhaled sharply and leaned forward while Jason kept his eyes on him, alongside the Butler who hoped to hear something he expected from him. “I guess you are not going to let me do this alone, Jack.” “Not a chance, Grandpa. We are in this together, there is no way I am going to let you do this alone, not when I can help it.” “But…”“Mmm-mm! No, Grandpa, no. We should agree at once. It’s either this or we are going after your son.” Jason insisted with a frown after he had cut the old man short. Lord Walker sighed heavily, several thoughts ran through his mind, but he picked the one that he needed to think about at that moment, discarding the others that were definitely going to come back to haunt him later. “Fine. Whatever you decide, Jack. Whatever you decide stands.” “Thank you, Grandpa.” Jason nodded in satisfaction, and then he turned to look at Harry who waited to hea

Harry handed over the phone to Jason who demanded it almost immediately after he was done with the call and texted the address of the glasshouse to Julian. “You have done well, Harry,” Jason said, and then he turned to look at Lord Walker who looked dissatisfied with the way the call ended. “What is it, Grandpa? You don’t look too happy.” Jason took a step closer to his Grandfather, wondering why the old man looked so troubled. “We didn’t get to know what he wanted to say. I think he needed something from me. Maybe he needed me to get him something. I think he might want some money to get fresh clothes, or even get something to eat. I wonder how he has been surviving ever since he got out of prison.” “Escaped you mean?” Jason said with a smirk on his face. He kept his eyes on the old man who stared at him for a few seconds without being able to say a word in response to the things he said to him. “You shouldn't be worried about a grown man, Grandpa. I am sure that he had pla

Harry nodded in agreement and walked out of the room while Jason and his Grandfather kept their eyes on him until he was out of sight. Jason sighed heavily after a few seconds, pulled the chair close to himself, and sat on it while his Grandfather kept his eyes on him with an expression that showed that he had a lot to tell him but didn’t know where to start. The next minute they spent in the room was occupied by a suspenseful silence that almost lingered much longer until Lord Walker cleared his throat and sighed softly. “I am sorry, Jack.” Lord Walker broke the silence, looking at Jason who sighed almost immediately. “For what, Grandpa? Why are you apologizing?” “Because I know you must really be disappointed in me, Jack. You have every right to be, but I need you to forgive me.” Jason sighed again, leaned forward to his Grandfather almost immediately, and put on a smiling face. “I am glad that you are trying to make amends, Grandpa, that should count for something. The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Premium Rose
Jason looked at the red card his Grandfather handed over to him. The design captivated him, and he admired it for a few seconds before lifting his face to look at his Grandfather who was waiting to get his attention. “What is this, Grandpa?” Jason lifted his face to look at Lord Walker who chuckled softly, and remained silent for a few seconds before giving him a response. “That’s a premium rose card, Jack.” “Premium rose card?” Jason returned his gaze to the card while his father nodded to affirm his words without discarding his smile. “What’s this used for, Grandpa?” Jason expressed the ignorance and curiosity that lingered in his mind while Lord Walker scoffed at how naïve he thought his Grandson was over things like that. “You really don’t know what a rose card is, Jack?” “Am I supposed to know what it is, Grandpa?” “Probably, you should have heard about it at least.” Lord Walker hoped that Jason was going to give him a positive response, but when he shook his head t
The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Strange Caller
There was no caller ID on the screen of the phone Jason was holding in his right hand. He stared at the screen without being certain of what to do. “Who could this be?” He thought to himself while the phone continued ringing. Eventually, the call ended without Jason being able to answer it. He kept his eyes on the phone while he stood still in front of the bed without saying a word. A few seconds later, the phone began to ring again, and it also showed that the call had no caller identity. Left with no choice, Jason answered the call and placed the phone on his right ear without saying a word. “I know you are there, Jason. I know you can hear me.” A distorted male voice said from the other end of the line, but Jason refused to respond. “You know she is not going to be yours, right? That’s not gonna happen.” The man said again, but Jason was still silent while he tried to figure out who could be the owner of the distorted voice. “I am sure that you think that you’ve got t

In less than two minutes, Jason was done with his meal, and he finished all the water in his glass before he stood slowly and pushed the seat backward with his right leg. “Rose? I have to go now, I need to be somewhere soon.” Jason said while he looked at Rose whose countenance changed slightly while she dropped the fork she was eating with on the plate, and sighed softly. “Are you okay?” Jason asked at once, but before Rose could give him a response, he was able to figure out the reason behind her mood change. “This is about the painting, isn’t it?” Jason nodded when Rose expressed a look that confirmed his word. He took in a deep breath which he let out slowly, and when he was certain that he had Rose’s attention, he continued with a smile on his face. “I am sorry we couldn’t do the painting today, but I promise that we are going to do it some other time, that’s a promise.” Rose sighed almost immediately and nodded her head in agreement while Jason chuckled softly. “To

Xavier gasped as soon as he heard the words that crashed his hope. He knew that Baron was brutal and dishonest, but he was also greedy. He had thought that he was going to let him go for the right amount, but it was obvious that there was more to it. “Why? Why the sudden change of mind, Baron? I am willing to give you any amount you desire, all you have to do is mention it.” Jason said calmly, trying as much as he could not to react. “I have changed my mind, Mr. Walker. I just realized that the boy is very valuable to me, and I can’t let him go just like that. You will have to tell his mother that you failed to bring him back. Trust me, this isn’t personal.” Baron lied with a smirk on his face, but Jason already knew that his words were false. “Your eyes say something else, Baron. This isn’t about the boy, is it?” Jason sighed, struggling to discard the frown on his face, but it was there to stay with no intention of leaving. “I don’t know what you are talking about, Mr. Walke

Jason could tell that the old man’s smile was fake, but he had to maintain a smile as well, eager to do what had brought him to the place. He looked around while marching slowly toward Baron with Harry and Ramon beside him. “I am sorry for coming to your place unannounced, Baron. But this is very important.” Jason explained calmly, but it took the man a while before he responded. “Well, you are here already. I wonder what brought you here, and I am eager to hear it. I only hope this has nothing to do with the Franchise.” Baron turned to face Harry and a frown instantly took over the smile on his face. “Lord Walker knows not to disturb me over such trivial matters. We had a deal, and I hope he will still keep to his own end of the bargain.” Baron continued with a smirk before returning his gaze to Jason who maintained his smile even though he was confused at that moment. “This way, please! Let’s go inside! You came at the right time, Mr. Walker, I was having a good time with my

Shirley was silent for a while, but the men standing close to her knew that she was thinking of the right answer to give to them, so they didn’t mind waiting until she was ready to speak. Eventually, she figured out what to tell them, and sighed heavily before she spoke with a loud whisper, trying as much as she could to be audible enough. “There was this man, he came looking for my son a few weeks ago. He said he stole something from him, and that he was meant to pay back for it. I told him that my son was not home, but he said he knew where to find him. He left and never came back.” Shirley sniffled, suppressing the extra tears that tried to roll down her face from her eyes. “When my son came back, I tried to warn him about the strange man, but he never listens. I pleaded with him to go far away, but he is as stubborn as his father. A week later, some men came to the house and took us. They blindfolded us and took us to this beautiful house where there were a lot of guards.”

For over an hour, Jason and the Butler remained seated, waiting patiently for Brenda to return with some news. The silence between them was laced with a little tension, but they were hopeful that something positive was going to come out of their adventure. Ignoring the lady who was secretly taking pictures of him with her smart phone, Jason adjusted himself before clearing his throat. He turned to face Harry, and spoke with a low tone. “Harry? Can I ask you something?” “Sure, Young Master! Anything at all.” Harry adjusted slowly, ready to hear what Jason was going to say to him. “Do you think the boy will be willing to come with us if he is real? Again, how do you think I am meant to handle a situation like this? I mean, the boy could be in a very bad mess, and I would have to pull him out of it.” Jason sighed, unable to discard the worrisome look on his face. But the middle-aged man had a smile on his face, and before giving him a response, he chuckled softly. “I know y

Joe’s Cafe
The waitress discovered that two men were walking toward her, and adjusting herself with a welcoming smile on her face, she greeted them warmly. “Hello, Sir. Welcome to Joe’s Café. Do you need anything?” “Yes. Hello. We are looking for a lady called Shirley. I was told she works here.” Jason said with a smile as well, looking at the waitress whose countenance showed that she didn’t know who he was talking about. “Shirley? I don’t think I know any Shirley who works here, Sir. I am new here, but I can get you someone who could know.” “Yes, please! Thank you so much.” Harry said calmly, gesturing to the waitress who nodded before walking away, holding onto the small notepad and pen she had in her hands. “I really hope this ends well,” Jason said with a whisper, sighing firstly while he kept his eyes on the path the waitress took. The waitress returned in less than a minute with another waitress who looked older and more experienced than her. “Hello, Sirs. My name is Nora. I

For a few seconds, Jason remained silent, but it didn’t seem like that was going to solve anything. The old man was still waiting to get a response from him, and Harry was interested to know the outcome of their meeting as well. Adjusting himself to get a more comfortable posture, Jason cleared his throat and sighed before he spoke with a voice that almost sounded like a whisper. “He has a son.” He said calmly, but his words were too heavy for the other men in the room to remain as calm as he was. Lord Walker knew Jason to be a man who didn’t joke with such things but for a second, he remained calm, hoping that he was going to say he was joking. Maybe he meant to say something else. “A son?” “Yes, Grandpa. He has a son.” “Julius has a son?” Lord Walker leaned forward, and grabbed the half-empty glass of water which he consumed before returning it to the table. “Are you okay, Lord Walker?” Harry asked, moving closer to the old man who raised his hands to stop him from g

The rays from the sunlight were shining brightly through the casement windows inside the bedroom. The curtains were half closed, giving way to the rays that hit Brenda’s eyes while she groaned in her sleep. As though there was a force, she opened her eyes instantly, only to behold the sight of shirtless Jason sitting close to her with a tray in both hands. “Wakie wakie! I was worried that too were not going to wake up on time to see this.” Jason had a beautiful smile on his face while he looked at Brenda who adjusted herself slowly, sitting up while she looked at the tray he was carrying. “What’s that?” “Oh! This? I made you breakfast! I had to wake up early just to make sure that everything worked as I planned. Here…” Jason opened the dish cover to reveal the egg and sausages on the plate next to a cup of black coffee. “I tried making the coffee just like you do. I hope I tried.” Jason handed the cup of coffee to Brenda who blew on the coffee before taking a sip. “Easy! I

Special Announcement
While everyone sat comfortably, eating and drinking everything that had been set on the table, Jason picked up the glass of wine in front of him, and after looking at his Grandfather and getting the signal from him, he nodded before lifting the glass. “I have a special announcement!” He hit his fork on the brim of the glass, drawing the attention of everyone seated at the table who instantly put a hold t what they were doing, and paid keen attention to him. Everyone seemed curious to know what he was about to say except the old man who was already done eating his veggies and wiped his lips with a napkin while he maintaining a grin on his face. “First of all, I want to thank Harry for bringing his lovely family to dinner. It’s such a pleasure to have you all here. Family is everything, family is life, and I am happy that he has such a beautiful family.” Jason lifted the glass toward Harry who bowed gently, still wondering what he was up to. “Harry here has been working with thi

Jason was the first to step out of the hot tub before Brenda joined him. Handing over one of the two towels he grabbed to her, he gave her a lovely smile which made her blush while she grabbed the towel, and wrapped her body with it. “You are still staring.” Brenda said with her smile intact, but Jason couldn’t take his eyes away from her, not even for a second. “What am I going to ever do without you? You have brought me so much joy, Brenda.” “Nothing, Jay. You are going to do nothing.” Brenda chuckled while Jason nodded without getting rid of his smile. “You are right. Absolutely nothing, that’s what I am going to do if I ever lose you.” “Well, I am not leaving anytime soon. I am here with you, my love.” Brenda patted Jason on both cheeks before she turned and walked toward the bedroom, holding onto her towel with both hands. “We must hurry, Jay! We are having guests, remember?” “Oh, right! I almost forgot about that!” Jason rushed into the room, and got dressed
