He stared at the screen without being certain of what to do. “Who could this be?” He thought to himself while the phone continued ringing. A few seconds later, the phone began to ring again, and it also showed that the call had no caller identity. Shirley was silent for a while, but the men standing close to her knew that she was thinking of the right answer to give to them, so they didn’t mind waiting until she was ready to speak. Eventually, she figured out what to tell them, and sighed heavily before she spoke with a loud whisper, trying as much as she could to be audible enough. “There was this man, he came looking for my son a few weeks ago. He said he stole something from him, and that he was meant to pay back for it. I told him that my son was not home, but he said he knew where to find him. He left and never came back.” Shirley sniffled, suppressing the extra tears that tried to roll down her face from her eyes. “When my son came back, I tried to warn him about the strange man, but he never listens. I pleaded with him to go far away, but he is as stubborn as his father. A week later, some men came to the house and took us. They blindfolded us and took us to this beautiful house where there were a lot of guards.”

The curtains were half closed, giving way to the rays that hit Brenda’s eyes while she groaned in her sleep.
