Lord Walker remained silent for more than ten seconds, but it was clear to everyone inside the room that he knew who Baron was. The thoughts of their previous encounters flashed through his mind, and he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about them.

“Grandpa?” Jason called out to him calmly, not happy that he had refused to say anything at that critical moment when the young man’s life was at stake.

“You are not saying anything, Grandpa. Baron spoke like he had something about you, that’s the reason why he refused to let the boy go.”

“Yeah, I know. That lunatic.” Lord Walker grunted loudly, adjusting himself while a frown appeared on his face. It was obvious that he had something to say, but the silence that followed his last words showed that he didn’t know where to start.

“Baron is a greedy fellow, but he would do anything to get back at me.”

“Get back at you? For what exactly?”

“For the death of his son, Jack.” Lord Walker retorted at once, leaving everyone more c

Jason stared at Shirley for a few seconds before he withdrew his gaze from her, still unable to find the right response to give to her. But it was very obvious that she was relentless, not ready to be quiet until she had her answer. “Why are you not saying anything? What happened to my son? Is he okay? Did he hurt him? Oh God! Is he dead?”“No, Shirley! Xavier is still alive! He is not dead!” Jason retorted at once, but Shirley was already apprehensive her eyes almost crept out of their sockets while she stared at Jason. “Are you sure! Did you see him?” She asked, not sure he was telling the truth. “Yes! I saw him, Shirley. Xavier is fine, he is unharmed.” “Why didn’t you bring him with you? I thought you said you were going to come back with him. You promised!”“Yes, I know. I know I promised…” Jason took in a deep breath which he let out slowly before he continued, speaking with a calm tone and hoping that Shirley was going to remain calm. “The man who has your son is an

Jason and Harry knew that Baron had answered the call the moment they saw that Lord Walker’s countenance had changed. It was a tough moment for the old man; a moment when he had t force himself to apologize for something that was not entirely his fault. “Baron? We need to talk. I am sorry for what happened to your son. The young man didn’t deserve to die.” “Oh! Wow! Did I just hear you say you are sorry, Charlie? You never apologize for anything. You are seated in your high-horse, making demands and stating things that should happen in people’s lives.” “That’s not true and you know it.” Lord Walker said defensively, but Baron countered his words with a scoff. “Oh, please! You’ve always tried to show that you are righteous, Charlie! You never agreed to all the business ideas that I brought up. But that didn’t stop you from losing your precious son.” Baron sniggered. “So much for being a saint!” “Listen to me, Baron.” Lord Walker took in a deep breath which he let out slowly

Without the Butler saying even a word, Jason and his Grandfather could tell that he was really worried about something. “What is it, Harry? What happened?”“It’s my wife, Young Master! She’s been in an accident!”“What? That’s terrible! How? When did this happen?” Jason got up from his seat at once, still looking at the Butler who was too tense to speak at once. “I need to go now! My daughter just sent the address it the hospital!” Harry said with a shaky voice, and then he hurried out of the house. “This is not good. I hope she gets better.” Lord Walker said calmly, feeling so much sympathy for Harry who was already out of the building in less than a minute. The Butler got into one of the cars parked in front of the building and zoomed off, leaving the guards shocked to see him in so much anxiety. Meanwhile, Jason had already forgotten that he was having a discussion with his grandfather. He looked at the closed door for a few seconds, and when he wasn’t satisfied with th

Slowly, Jason lifted his face to look at what James was showing him. The sight of his foster parents in an interview on the same television channel made him lean forward. “I almost forgot about that.” He said with a whisper, eyes still on the television. Just like he had told them, Jason’s foster parents countered the words they had written earlier, stating that they had told a lie. They asked the public for forgiveness with the excuse that they were forced to do it because they needed money. “That’s good of them, at least they have some conscience,” James whispered, turning to look at Jason who scoffed at once. “Right. They did this because they were left with no choice. I paid them a visit.” “Oh. I thought they just decided to do this on their own.” James said, still looking at Jason who shook his head in response. “I hope they have learned their lessons.” Jason said only to his hearing before he turned to look at Harry who had his mind occupied with thoughts about his w

Jason looked around to be sure that Lord Walker was really inside his room. He moved to the bathroom door and knocked twice. “Grandpa? Are you in there?” He listened to know if he was going to hear anything from inside the bathroom, but there was nothing. “Jay? Is he in there?” Brenda walked into the room as well, moving toward Jason whose countenance was enough to give her a response. “Grandpa?” Jason opened the bathroom door and looked around. He got out as soon as he realized that the old man was not inside the bathroom. “His wheelchair is missing. I think he left.” Brenda pointed out, causing Jason to look to confirm her words. “Where could he have gone?” “Maybe he is downstairs, Jay? I think we should look for him downstairs.” Brenda suggested and they hurried down at once. They checked everywhere, and after several minutes of moving without seeing Lord Walker, they hurried out of the building. “Hey? Come!” Jason summoned one of the guards who ran to him at once.

The tension in the vicinity was beginning to rise. It was obvious that the possibility of things getting very messy was high. It seemed as though the air had been polluted by a perspective violence that was evident on the faces of all the guards standing with their hands ready to grab their weapons. Taking in a deep breath, Jason gently moved Xavier aside after making sure that he had regained his balance. “Are you okay?” He asked the teenager who nodded without being able to utter even a word. He was obviously scared, and the sweatballs that ran down his face were enough to quench his thirst. “Stay here, don’t make any move.” Jason handed Xavier over to one of the guards who moved closer to him as soon as he saw his hand gesture. He took a quick glance at the car Brenda was seated in, but the only thing he could see was a tinted windshield and nothing else. Returning his gaze to Baron, he saw that the old man looked ready for some bloody action, but that didn’t seem like pa

A loud whirring sound followed the gunshot, followed by a silence that lingered for a few seconds. Jason kept his eyes on the muzzle of the gun he refused to bring down, watching as smoke slowly moved into the air. He had a smirk on his face and turned to look at Ramon who was forced to move closer, thinking that the old man was dead. “Get up! Now!” Jason commanded, eyes on Baron who thought that his life was over. “Get up, Baron! Now!” “Okay! Okay! Don’t shoot!” Baron got up from the floor at once, lifting both hands in full surrender. He had lost every aspect of his valor, and he couldn’t dare to prove stubborn for any other reason. Turning back cautiously, he took a quick glance at the couch with a bullet hole in it, the same one that was meant for his face. He forgot at that heated moment that he important that furniture with a lot of money, glad that the bullet didn’t burst his brain instead. “I didn’t miss, Baron. That was just to teach you a lesson. • The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade.   Hidden Existence

Pacing around restlessly from one corner of the waiting room to the next, Jason struggled with his anxiety, unable to stop his heart from tromping violently. Apparently, the media had gotten a hint of the incident, and many viral posts had been made on the internet about the fact that Lord Walker was rushed into the hospital. No one knew the reason behind the injuries all over his body, and that made curiosity spark in most of the post while some bloggers assumed it must have been a domestic accident. “How did they get this picture?” Jason whispered as soon as he saw one of the many posts on the internet. But he only stared at his phone for a few seconds before returning it to the hallway which led to the particular ward where his Grandfather was kept. He grunted in annoyance and put his phone into his pocket at once, ignoring all the attention the incident was getting. It was very obvious that some of the people in the hospital and around its premises were talking about the inc

  • Marry me

It had been a month since Julius was brought out of prison, and everything was going as everyone had hoped for. He had been of good conduct, keeping to the conditions that were given to him by Jason. But that didn’t mean that any chances could be taken with him. His reputation as a notorious criminal who had claimed lives made it quite difficult to trust him. The fact that he had been exonerated from the guilt of his actions was too much grade for him, and it would have been foolish of him to let it go to waste. He had spent the entire month begging for Shirley’s forgiveness, but she kept her distance, maintaining a mutual relationship with him which was based on the fact that they had a child together. Xavier on the other hand was old enough to understand that sometimes things don’t always go the way we want them. Even though he wished that his parents could be together someday, he also knew that his mother was only trying to be safe. She didn’t want to have to repeat the sam

  • Conditional Freedom

Days turned to weeks, and then to a month. Jason fulfilled his promise to Xavier and made sure he went to one of the best schools in the city. He knew that the boy still thought about his father even though he stopped talking about him, probably because his mind was occupied with school assignments, and some of the things Jason got him involved in just to make sure he stayed away from silly acts. Seated with Lord Walker, Jason waited patiently for the old man to speak, aware of what was about to be heard. “Jack?” Lord Walker leaned forward before he continued. “I know that Julius isn’t particularly the best Uncle in the entire world, but he is still family. I know that this is a very difficult decision for you to make. But you have to do this for the sake of the boy…” Lord Walker paused for a few seconds just to be certain that Jason was listening to him. He sighed softly and continued with a more audible tone. “Keeping him there way cause be painful for the boy even thoug

  • Reunion

Standing in front of Jason was Clark, the same best friend who turned out to be one of his enemies. He had lost his charm and confidence and almost looked like a better. He couldn’t even look at Jason for more than a few seconds before he bent his face to the ground in shame. It appeared that his outfit was oversized, but that was only proof that he had lost a lot of weight. “Why are you here, Clark? I am sure you didn’t just come to stare at me.” Jason broke the silence between them, staring at Clark with a smirk on his face. Brenda would have asked a few questions, but as soon as Jason mentioned the name of the man standing in front of them, she remembered some of the stories he told him about how his best friend betrayed him and went after his wife. She was only interested to know why Clark was there. “I am here to ask for your forgiveness, Jason. I also want to appreciate you for getting me out of jail.” Clark managed to say with a shaky tone. He couldn’t even look at Ja

  • I am Pregnant!

It had been three days since Xavier and his mother pleaded that Julius be set free but nothing had been done about it. Jason was taking his time to make a decision about his step-uncle’s fate. It seemed like it was going to take more time before he could be able to come t a conclusion. Lord Walker himself was wondering why Jason had not said anything about it, but he also knew that he was worried about his safety. After seeing and hearing what Julius was capable of, Jason had no other option than to keep the decision pending until he was done with some of the plans he had in mind. First, he enrolled Xavier in high school. He attended one of the best schools in Granada Hills, and the goal was to make sure that the young man didn’t need up on the streets ever again. Shirley on the other hand was going through a rehabilitation process. She was made to speak to someone and undergo struct measures of check which were often conducted to make sure she didn’t go back to her old habi

  • Release Him

The next day, it was finally time to bring back Lord Walker from the hospital after his recovery. Jason went together with the Butler, Brenda, and Xavier who insisted that he was going to go with them. Not only was he eager to see his mother, but he also wanted to see his Grandfather who almost sacrificed himself for his sake. By the time they arrived at the hospital, the old man was already seated on the bed while one of the nurses attending to him handed him over his drugs and a glass of water. “Thank you, my dear.” He said to the nurse as soon as he was done with his medication while he handed over the empty glass to her. He turned to his visitors and the brightness of his face increased at once, causing him to gesture to them at once. “I know what you are about to say, Jack…” He shook his head, but that wasn’t going to stop Jason from expressing himself. “That was really silly, Grandpa! You almost got yourself killed!” Jason walked up to the old man ahead of the other

  • Retribution

Xavier hesitated for a while, but he eventually mustered the guts to move. “Go ahead.” Jason urged him as soon as he took the first steps, and he continued moving, eyes on his father who was shocked to see him. Julius could tell that Xavier was truly his son, he didn’t think he needed any DNA to prove that. The resemblance was alarming, and the fact that the boy reminded him of himself when he was about the same age was enough. But he didn’t seem like he was the proudest father at that moment. He was glad that he had been given the opportunity to see his son, but he was equally ashamed of himself. Unable to get closer to the iron bars, he stood where he was, waiting patiently for Xavier to get closer to him. The boy stood in front of his father, staring at him without knowing what exactly he was supposed to say at that moment. The reunion wasn’t as pleasant as he had expected it to be. Father and son remained for over a minute, but their eyes said a lot to each other while

  • His Father

With their panic rising, Jason and Brenda paced along the hallway, waiting for anyone to come out of the theater. It had gotten so long that Jason had to send for Cara who came along with some guards to take Henry back to the Villa while they continued waiting anxiously. Eventually, the Doctor came out of the theater dripping with sweatballs that ran down his face. “Doctor?! What’s going on?” Jason asked anxiously, but instead of giving him a response, the Doctor moved to Brenda and whispered some words into her ear, making sure that Jason wasn’t going to hear their conversation. Brenda responded with a whisper as well before the Doctor nodded and hurried back to the theater without saying a word to Jason whom he only stared at while he expected him to say something. “Why didn’t he say anything to me?! What did he say, babe? Talk to me!” Jason moved closer to Brenda who looked like she didn’t know how to tell him what the Doctor whispered into her ear. “Brenda?” Jason call

  • Seizure

Brenda was silent for a while, but Jason was patient enough to wait for a response to his question. Firstly, she grabbed Henry from Jason and made sure he was sitting comfortably on her legs. She took in a deep breath which she let out slowly before she turned to look at Jason. “I am listening, Brenda. What were you guys discussing back there?”“Nothing really. Just girls’ talk.” “Okay?” Jason featured with both hands, indicating that he wanted to hear more details about their discussion. “I thought you said you were not so much interested in her, Jay. Why bothering to ask what we were discussing?”“Me? When did I say that?”“Well, you implied it.” Brenda shrugged, looking at Jason with a smirk on her face. “Just tell me what you guys were talking about back there, Brenda. She could have said something that needs to be verified by me. No other person knows her like I do.” Jason insisted. “Okay, fine.” Brenda sighed. “I was just worried about the way she looked, that’s

  • Motherhood

The sight of his ex-wife made Jason sigh, his previous countenance gave way for a frown that appeared as he stared at Isabella who managed to push the two guards aside because they let her do so. But they went after her and grabbed her at once, restraining her efforts to get close to Jason or her son. “Jason! Tell them to let me go! Let me go! Let me go!” Isabella continued to struggle with the guards, but she eventually got tired, panting in exhaustion while Jason and Brenda watched her with a little surprised written all over their faces. Henry recognized his biological mother, but it didn’t look like he was really concerned or excited to see her. He just stared at her as though he was trying to recall where he met her. “Tell them to let me go, Jason! Please.” Isabella pleaded, but Jason wasn’t really interested in the words that she uttered. What made him curious was the fact that she looked very unkempt and malnourished. It had been a few weeks since he last saw her, and h
