The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. Turned Tables
“Looking at the files in front of me, I must say that I am very disappointed that an attorney would be involved in such hideous behavior. To say that I am very disappointed is the least of the feelings I have.” The Judge said firing shots of annoyance at William who still kept his face downwards. “Say something, say something William! Don’t just keep mute.” Isabella whispered loudly looking at William whose outfit was suddenly soaked not responsive to the cooling air from the air condition. “This firm has lasted for years on the strong foundation of justice and equity and I wouldn’t have you ruin this standard we have set here. I would deal with this matter of deception much later when this is over.” The Judge blared again holding up all the files William had presented to him, then he kept them aside and gathered the files Jason’s attorney handed over to him placing them one after the other on the table. There was over a minute of silence coated with great tension rising from ev

The two attorneys stood up almost at the same time and headed towards the corner where the Judge pointed to. “I see you are still enslaving for the Palmers William.” “Well, they pay more than this leech of a client of yours Gregory! I wonder how he will be able to afford you. You clearly do not know who you are involved with.” William retorted with a smirk as he walked to meet up with the Judge. Gregory Jason’s attorney smiled with a slight shake of his head. “If only they know.” He said with a voice a little above a whisper before he joined the Judge still holding on to one of the files he came with. “I hope your clients have come to a resolution, we do not have to delay this any further.” The judge said still glaring at William with disappointment. “Certainly your honor. In here are the detailed information of the conditions listed by my client which my colleague on behalf of his client has agreed to.” Gregory said and pulled out another document from the blue file.

Isabella with her companions couldn’t believe everything that had transpired, it all seemed like some movie they were watching in a cinema. “This can’t be real. Impossible!” She whispered to the hearing of William and Clark whose buttocks were becoming hurting from the discomfort they felt seating in the middle of the whole confusion. “Gentlemen and lady, I must take my leave now. My client and I are grateful that we were able to come to a definite conclusion of this legal seating. I would make the necessary arrangements with my colleague here and all documents regarding this divorce would be sent across.” Gregory said after he stood up, then he shook hands with Jason who smiled at him before he left. Seeing that everything was over and that the heat he felt inside of him was gradually leaving and his body temperature normalizing, William stood up gently avoiding Jason’s gaze remembering how rudely he had spoken to him the day before. “I will be taking my leave now Miss Pal

Isabella couldn’t say any word. She kept mute for a few seconds unable to get herself to tell her mother of the twist of the encounter she had at the law firm. Seeing the worrisome look on her face, Fiona turned towards Clark with an inquisitive stare but the young man seemed to be in the same gloomy mood as her daughter. “What’s wrong baby! Is everything ok? Clark?” Fiona asked as her heart began to slowly speed up with irregular beats for some reason that wasn’t clear to her. “Oh don’t tell me you are thinking twice about dumping his silly ass! He was a poor bastard and couldn’t have been able to ever take care of you. He wouldn’t have been able to match your standards.” Maya said appearing from the back with her right hand clutching her phone tightly. “Come here Sweetie. No one to be sad you did absolutely the right thing.” Chloe said and embraced Isabella tightly with a smile on her face. Exactly my thoughts, I don’t know why she would be carrying a long face. Jason ignored the looks on the faces of the members of the Palmer family in the living room and walked into the room slowly, this time with a straight face. He made his way towards the staircase but Jacob quickly blocked him with a slight push on his chest. “Where the hell do you think you are going?” Jacob asked glaring shots of displeasure and eagerness to start a fight with Jason. Jason clutched his fists, tightening them as though he was about to throw a punch but inhaling slowly, he let go of the anger inside of him. Jacob was really getting on his nerves and certainly he was going to pay for his actions. “What do you intend to do about that? Fight me? You dare not! Else I would have you locked up and the keys your cell thrown into the Pacific Ocean.” Jacob glared as he saw that Jason had tightened his fists together. “I do not have time for this Jacob, kindly leave my way!” “And if I don’t? What are you gonna do about that yeah fight me? Coward!” Jason ignored J

Andrew was the first to come down, he had always been expecting his grandmother to react in a certain way especially with the arrival of Jason to the house which Isabella didn’t seem to handle so well as they had expected. “Good evening Mum. How are you?” Fiona asked her mother standing up gradually from her sitting position, but the woman sneered at her and rolled her eyes at the same time. “Where is Isabella? Where is she?” “Welcome Granny how was your day?” Andrew said smiling at Lady Palmer whose temper was rising beyond the surface of the building. “Does it mean that no one understood my question or I am speaking in a foreign language? I said where is Isabella? For the last time, where is she?” “I will go fetch her Mum, please be calm.” Fiona pleaded and rushed outside the house and towards the pool. Lady Palmer at this point was pacing around the living room livid, her breath was escalating above it’s normal pace and her hands shaking amidst the effects of the n

Jason looked properly to see who was speaking from inside the driver’s seat of the vehicle, that was when he realized who it was; the same driver who had insulted him because he couldn’t afford to give him the extra charges he asked for. “Yo man! I hear you were served divorce papers. I bet you finally got what you deserved! Serves you right!” Said the main as he sniggered shaking his head in a funny way just to make mockery of Jason. “What? Why aren’t you saying anything? Cat cut your tongue?” He said again and laughed hysterically at Jason. At first, Jason’s intentions were to walk away from the man, but on a second thought he felt it was better to carry on with him not mindful of his attitude. “I just want to get to my destination. I want no trouble.” Jason said calmly not in the mood to exchange words with the man. “Oh I see! Even if I was to see my trouble to you, bet you wouldn’t even be able to afford it. Loser.” “Just take me to the nearest hotel in town. I will pay

The two hefty men paid no attention to Thomas, they continued to drag him along the floor until they got to a corner in the alley before they forcefully hurled him to the wall and stood next to him as his two sides. The impact made him grunt in pain as soon as he landed on the rough wall. He shut his eyes in pain and extended his right hand to his back to rub off the intense pain. “Who are you? What do you want? I don’t have anything, I am just a taxi driver.” Thomas said with a whimper still trying to ease the pain with his hands but the two hefty men on black suits beside him said nothing, it was as though they were programmed not to speak. Thomas panted in pain, then he relaxed himself with his legs stretching out to enable him balance, he dared not run for the sight of the two hefty men alone was enough to send cold shivers down his spine. “Please! Just let me go. I swear I won’t come to this place again. Don’t harm me I beg you.” Thomas pleaded the men who refused to budg

Brenda was silent for a while, but Jason was patient enough to wait for a response to his question. Firstly, she grabbed Henry from Jason and made sure he was sitting comfortably on her legs. She took in a deep breath which she let out slowly before she turned to look at Jason. “I am listening, Brenda. What were you guys discussing back there?”“Nothing really. Just girls’ talk.” “Okay?” Jason featured with both hands, indicating that he wanted to hear more details about their discussion. “I thought you said you were not so much interested in her, Jay. Why bothering to ask what we were discussing?”“Me? When did I say that?”“Well, you implied it.” Brenda shrugged, looking at Jason with a smirk on her face. “Just tell me what you guys were talking about back there, Brenda. She could have said something that needs to be verified by me. No other person knows her like I do.” Jason insisted. “Okay, fine.” Brenda sighed. “I was just worried about the way she looked, that’s
Motherhood
The sight of his ex-wife made Jason sigh, his previous countenance gave way for a frown that appeared as he stared at Isabella who managed to push the two guards aside because they let her do so. But they went after her and grabbed her at once, restraining her efforts to get close to Jason or her son. “Jason! Tell them to let me go! Let me go! Let me go!” Isabella continued to struggle with the guards, but she eventually got tired, panting in exhaustion while Jason and Brenda watched her with a little surprised written all over their faces. Henry recognized his biological mother, but it didn’t look like he was really concerned or excited to see her. He just stared at her as though he was trying to recall where he met her. “Tell them to let me go, Jason! Please.” Isabella pleaded, but Jason wasn’t really interested in the words that she uttered. What made him curious was the fact that she looked very unkempt and malnourished. It had been a few weeks since he last saw her, and h

Jason slept like a baby throughout the night. Brenda was able to get him to sleep after making him a hot cup of black coffee which was enough to calm him down, taking his mind temporarily away from everything that was going on. “Good morning.” He said with a whisper as soon as he opened his eyes to see Brenda standing next to him as though she had been keeping watch over him. “I don’t need to ask if you slept well. You were sleeping peacefully, I glad you had enough rest.” Brenda said while she continued watching Jason who stretched his arms and grunted while he sat up from the bed.“I feel so relaxed, Babe. I am glad I have you by my side at a time like this. Thank you.” Jason said, a bright smile face “Stop it.” Brenda chuckled softly, and then she took two steps closer to him before placing both hands on his shoulders. “You don't need to thank me, okay? I will gladly do anything it takes to make sure that you are okay.” Jason nodded instantly, his smile intact while he
Relief for the Poor
The news of the destruction of Baron’s empire by fire was all over the news. Everyone in Granada Hills and beyond was talking about it, but no one was able to know how it happened. Worst still, the old man who terrorized some parts of the city was nowhere to be found, and that made some people breathe some fresh air. Baron was gone, and so were their troubles. No one was going to be ever afraid of him taking their children ever again in exchange for the amount they owed him. Baron was always there to lend money to the poor whenever they were in need, but it usually came with some deadly conditions that they didn't know about. Baron always knew that some of those he lent money to were not going to be able to pay back as when it was time to do so. He took advantage of their inability to pay, and made their lives very miserable. Unfortunately, the government did nothing about it even though their was no legal backing for the old villain to treat people unfairly when they were una
Razed Empire
For almost a minute, Jason struggled with his rage, but something stopped him from pulling the trigger. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get himself to kill the old man who saw his life flashing before his eyes. Everyone was silently looking at the scene, wondering what was going to happen. They were almost certain that Jason was going to kill Baron. Grunting, Jason lowered the gun, still glaring at Baron who covered his face with both hands while he awaited his death. “You are not worth the stress, Baron,” Jason said calmly, and then he tossed the gun to the ground to the shock of everyone around. “I think I will make you suffer a more intense fate, Baron. You will watch everything you have labored for go down the drain.” Jason took in a deep breath and then exhaled slowly before he turned and gestured to Rogers who hurried to him at once. “I want you to go into this place with some men and bring our everyone inside, I am sure that he has a lot of children in there
Lost Empire
Even though James knew that Jason was very angry at that moment, he never thought that he was going to be willing to retaliate against Baron for what he did to Lord walker. However, he had seen a side of Jason which seemed to be hidden from them for a long time. He never knew he had such powerful reflexes but was convinced that there was more to him after how he handled the Mafia Lord. “Are you sure about this, Young Master? I am sorry, but waging a war against Baron could draw a lot of attention. I am not sure if we need that kind of attention in this city at the moment.” “I don’t care, James! Make the call. Gather all the men we gave and tell them to meet me here at once, no one should be missing! Do it now!” Jason ordered, causing James to bow before he pulled out his phone and made the call. Jason called Rogers as well, and he appeared with some other man before the men James called were able to come to the hospital vicinity. There were over twenty cars all over the plac

Turning to look at Brenda, Jason walked toward her with an inquisitive expression on his face. Her countenance made him a bit worried as he wasn’t really sure of the reason why she looked like that. “Babe? What’s going on?” He asked but Brenda remained silent.“How is Grandpa? Is he okay?”Brenda remained silent, creating more suspense in the air. Jason’s heart had already started pounding frantically against his heartbeat while he stared at Brenda, waiting to hear what she had come to tell him. “You are making me scared, babe. What’s going on?” “I am sorry, Jay. I have bad news.” Brenda finally said, looking very sad and exhausted at the same time. Her words hit Jason really hard, sending great fear into his nerves. “Is he…?” He couldn’t complete the words he had in mind, wary of the fact that that was one of his greatest fears. Losing the old man was going to come as a great shock and he wasn’t sure he was ready for it. The fact that Brenda said nothing made it more diff
Deserving
Jason knew that the young man was going to be very disappointed if he told him the exact truth about his father’s location. He could probably not understand even if he tried to explain to him, so he chose to tell him something else. “Xavier?” He glared his throat twice before he continued, unaware that Harry was back to the room with a smile of relief on his face. “It’s not that simple, okay? I can’t really take you to see your father at the moment because of everything that has happened. But I promise to take you to see him as soon as I have this sorted out.” Xavier bent his face in disappointment. That wasn’t the kind of response he had anticipated to hear, but it didn’t look like he had any other choice but to be patient until it was time to see his father. He only wished that things weren’t the way they were, especially with Lord Walker’s life at stake. “That’s a promise, Xavier. I will take you to see your father as soon as I have all of this sorted out, okay?” Jason said
Moment of Truth
Shirley who heard the mention of his son’s name turned instantly, her eyes widened in excitement as soon as she saw her son Xavier. A loud but faint gasp left her at once. “Xavier? Is that you?” She asked with a shaky voice, struggling to push herself up, ignoring the pain she felt in her body. “Take it easy.” Harry quickly rushed to help her, but it didn’t look like she was worried about herself at that moment. All that mattered was the fact that Xavier was back to her alive and healthy. The young man was only able to stand close to the door after he managed to walk into the ward, unsure of how to face his mother who was confused by his behavior. “Why is he still standing there?” She asked Harry who was silent, causing her to look at Jason almost immediately. But she didn’t get any response from either of them. “Xavier? Come to your mother. Come on!” Shirley reached out to him, but he was still so reluctant until Jason urged him to go to her. “Go ahead, Xavier. It’s okay.
