When entering the Nox area, Yohan did not hesitate to grasp the sword he was carrying. The sword belonged to Alastair. He lent it to Yohan because he had just become part of the hunters and did not yet have his own weapon. Normally, a hunter who had just entered would not immediately be invited on an expedition to the Nox area. But Yohan was different. Just a day after he agreed to Alastair's offer to join the hunters, he had to join the expedition to the Nox area.
"Are you okay?" asked Ancel with a worried expression.
Yohan laughed softly. "What? Does my face look really scared?"
Ancel shook his head. "It's precisely because you look so normal that I'm worried."
"Take it easy, Ancel. Dealing with death is not something unfamiliar to me. At least, in my world, I've also come close to death many times. It's just the way it's done that's different from here."
Ancel smiled. "No wonder Captain Indark recommended you to become a hunter, you already have a lot of experience in your world. I'm sure if being a royal knight doesn't have to be a noble, Captain Indark will definitely include you in his division."
Yohan chuckled. "Ah, don't flatter me like that. I'm not as good as you think. Ah, I wonder, those plants, the ones that glitter and look strange, can they be utilized?"
Yohan pointed to a bush-like plant clustered near their expedition path. It looked like a bush, but it was dark purple in color and glittered like there were lights inside. Around the bush, there were sparkling lights flying around it like a bunch of fireflies.
"It's a twilight shrub. It is harmless. Its leaves are luminous and can be used as a lamp. In the city center, there are a lot of people who trade that plant. It's not too far into the Nox area, so there are still many people who dare to take it," Ancel explained.
"Are the hunters illegal? But even if it's harmless, isn't coming into the Nox area dangerous enough?"
Ancel nodded. "Yes, it is. Actually, the kingdom has warned many times that the Nox area should not be entered by anyone. Only knights, hunters, and people authorized by the palace are allowed to do so. But what did you expect? Not all humans can obey the rules."
Yohan smiled sadly. In any world, things like this are very common. Not all humans can be controlled by rules.
"Hey, about that? Is that dangerous? Ancel?"
Yohan turned his head and saw Ancel's pale face. He followed Ancel's gaze and was surprised to see the figure in front of him.
"Wh-What? A monster?"
Ancel pulled Yohan's arm. "Run!"
"What is it? Is it some kind of dragon?" asked Yohan as he looked back.
"Everyone! Prepare your weapons!" Ancel shouted loudly. He stopped pulling Yohan's arm and began to stand facing the dragon monster.
Yohan was confused. This was his first expedition to the Nox area. He thought he was just going to check the Nox area and see if the miasma had begun to appear, but his first expedition was immediately confronted with a dragon monster of enormous size. For someone from a different world, monsters like this were mere imagination. Yohan never thought that he would see a dragon for real.
"Yohan! Hold your weapon properly!"
Yohan drew the sword lent by Alastair. The dragon's growling sound was loud and deafening. When the dragon opened its mouth, its clear green saliva dripped down. Every drop of saliva that fell on the grass, the grass instantly dried up and died.
"Don't let the saliva get to you or your skin will peel off." Ancel warned.
"Where are the knights who led us?" asked Yohan when he realized that there were only his fellow hunters around him.
Ancel shook his head. "Forget about them. Things like this happen all the time. We can't depend on them. We can only guarantee our own safety."
Yohan gulped his saliva with difficulty. This was a horrible experience. His fellow hunters were young men who were quite a bit younger than Yohan. They looked terrified, but the determination in their eyes was strong.
Yohan gulped. He gripped his sword tightly and pointed the sharp edge forward. He took a deep breath, trying to convince himself that he had faced death many times before.
"Just do it as usual." He muttered under his breath.
"Roaaaaaaarrrrrrr!"
The dragon flapped its wings violently. The flapping of its wings sent many of the surrounding plants flying.
"Watch out!" Ancel shouted.
Yohan let out a loud snort. He ran forward recklessly and tried to slash at the dragon's leg.
"Yohan!"
Ancel ran forward and tried to help. Yohan's slash hit the bottom of the dragon's leg. The dragon growled angrily and was about to stomp on Yohan with its huge feet.
"That was close. Don't act rashly, Yohan!" Ancel exclaimed angrily.
Yohan laughed softly. "Calm down, I'm fine."
"We don't need to kill him. Just chase him away so we can get back safely."
"Eh? That's not very exciting. Captain Indark said that dragon body parts are rare and useful. I thought we were going to kill the dragon."
Ancel widened his eyes. "You're crazy, aren't you? Dragons are one of the most dangerous things in the Nox area. You'll die if you get too close to it."
Yohan did not listen to Ancel's warning. He just nodded just so Ancel would stop nagging him. Yohan wanted to try it, he wanted to kill the dragon and bring home one of its body parts. Maybe he could use a tool to support his life in this strange land.
With his fast movements, Yohan approached the dragon again and tried to slash its body parts randomly. Ancel scolded him many times, but Yohan did not give up.
"Yohan, watch out!"
"Aaaaaarrghhh!" Yohan screamed in pain as the dragon's saliva dripped down onto his arm.
Ancel and the other hunters rushed over and pulled Ancel's collapsed body away from the dragon. They hid behind the bushes and examined the wound on Yohan's arm.
"Hey, you're okay, right? Show me your arm, I'll-eh?" Ancel stopped talking and widened his eyes. "I-It's..."
Yohan blinked softly. "What?"
Yohan lowered his head and looked down at his arm that was covered in dragon saliva. "Huh? How come there's no wound at all?"
Ancel shook his head. "We should be the ones asking you."
"But I felt the pain."
Yohan rubbed his arm repeatedly. There was really no scar at all. Clean and healthy.
"Your body's reaction to the poison in this world might be different?"
Yohan shook his head. "How could it be? Compared to you, I'm an ordinary person. The poison would be much more dangerous to me."
"We don't know what happened, Yohan. Anyway, I'm grateful that you're okay. Just ignore that first and let's finish this fight."
"Roooooooaaarrrrr!"
Yohan and Ancel turned their heads. The dragon had found their hiding place.
"Damn it, run!" Yohan screamed.
***
Yohan was surprised. "No, no way."The dragon had stomped two of his comrades to death in a gruesome way. Ancel turned his face away. He quickly pulled Yohan's arm away from the area."Hold on, we'll escape soon."Yohan pulled his arm from Ancel's grip. "I won't just let that thing live."Ancel was surprised. "What do you mean, Yohan?""I'll kill it."Ancel gaped. "What? What are you thinking-eh, Yohan!"Yohan ignored his comrades' calls and ran forward toward the rampaging dragon. Ancel and the rest of the hunters wanted to help, but they were all terrified beyond belief. They were used to dealing with the deaths of their comrades, but the grief of losing friends did not dissipate that easily.Yohan looked down at his own arm. "If the poison in the dragon's saliva doesn't kill me, then I have a chance to defeat the dragon," he muttered."Roooooaaarrrr!"Yohan jumped up and held on to the dragon's leg. The dragon flew up and kept moving its legs violently to make Yohan fall down. Fort
After Yohan gouged out a few of the green dragon's scales and then took a few drops of its blood, the dead dragon's body suddenly shattered into flakes of ash. He crouched down and touched the flakes. It felt very smooth, almost too smooth when compared to the ashes left over from burning wood. He also sniffed the aroma, and there was no burnt scent at all from the smooth flakes."Would a dead dragon disintegrate like this?" Yohan muttered. He went back to check the dragon scales he had taken and they remained intact as they should. The blood he put into the bamboo container was also still safe.Out of curiosity, Yohan put some of the soft flakes into the leaf container he had picked up carelessly nearby. Perhaps he could study the item later. Who knows if the flakes were as useful as dragon scales or blood? After an expedition, hunters would usually be given two or three days to rest and be free from training. During this time, they will normally use the time to sleep and restore the
Yohan was surprised when he saw the alchemist's strange expression. He stared at the dragon's ashes like a psychopath who had successfully minced human flesh. He did not know, maybe Yohan was just overthinking it. Yohan quickly turned his face away and left the place. Whatever the alchemist did was none of his business. The important thing was that the weapon he wanted was made well.Yohan parted ways with Ry that day. The girl said that they should meet again sometime. Yohan agreed. He did not think too much about it. Maybe they will meet again in the same place, or who knows? They were not that close to each other to begin with. But Yohan was very grateful to Ry because the girl had brought him to the alchemist. At least, he would have his own magic weapon and no longer need to borrow Captain Indark's.In accordance with the initial agreement, Yohan returned to the alchemist's place a week later. The difference was that Ancel accompanied him this time. When he told Ancel that he had
The alchemist was shocked. He approached Yohan, who was still lying on the ground, groaning in pain. "I-It's... This is the first time I've seen something like this." Ancel frowned in disbelief. He thought the alchemist knew why a black mark suddenly appeared on Yohan's body when he touched the dragonscale weapon. "Hey, are you okay?" Ancel tried to help Yohan to his feet. Yohan's breathing was labored. Ancel could feel his uncomfortable breathing. "Yohan!" Yohan looked weakly at Ancel. "It hurts like hell." "Come on, help him up and put him on the chair. I'll check the mark." Athlas got up and took some things from the old wooden cupboard at the back of the room. Ancel's brow was still slightly furrowed. It was obvious that he was puzzled by what the alchemist was about to do. "What are you going to do?" Athlas took a small bamboo phial from the leather pouch he had taken from the closet. Ancel continued to watch what the man was about to do until he prevented Athlas from taki
Perhaps Yohan should have listened to Ancel's words about the spear they had brought from the alchemist's house. When they reached the palace and were about to enter the hunters' barracks, Alastair Indark was already standing there, staring at them with a fierce glare in his eyes."Captain Indark!" Ancel bowed to the man immediately.Yohan grimaced at him. "Hey, um... I was going out for a while and Ancel came with me because he was worried."Alastair tugged at the collar of Yohan's clothes. The rough action made Yohan moan in pain. The black marks that suddenly appeared on his body still looked like burns.Alastair noticed the change in Yohan's expression. "What's wrong?" he asked.Yohan immediately shook his head. "Nothing. It's nothing.""You're lying."Alastair quickly pulled off Yohan's clothes and examined his body. He was shocked to see the black marks all over Yohan's body. His eyes were filled with horror. He immediately pulled Yohan's arm in the direction of his room."Wait,
"Hello? Is someone there?"Yohan frowned in surprise. He was quite sure that his hearing was not wrong. He heard a loud crash outside the railing."Ancel? Are you there?"Actually, Yohan did not want to cross the railing. His position as a person from another world was already enough of a cause for serious concern here. Alastair Indark would certainly have a problem if Yohan's reckless behavior were to be reported to the crown prince.Yohan sighed and scratched his temple. "Did I hear wrong, huh?"Just as Yohan was about to turn around, he heard another crash. But this time it was softer."Damn, I can't take it anymore."Not to mention if he had to deal with the crown prince later. Yohan could not just walk away, suppressing his curiosity."Hey, is anyone in... what the hell?"Yohan ran over and approached an unconscious body with blood on its chest."Ancel! Ancel! What happened to you, why is it like this?"Yohan slowly laid Ancel's head on his thigh. His nose was bleeding, his mouth
Why did it come to this? Yohan was framed. Someone must have killed Ancel for Yohan to be blamed. He would not be surprised if it was people from the Kingdom. After all, ever since Yohan had come here, everyone had been suspicious of him. But really, Yohan did not expect them to do such a cruel thing.Yohan was taken to prison. He was locked in a dungeon, and then the knights covered Yohan's prison room with magic so that his voice could not be heard from outside."Fuck! What should I do now?"Yohan rubbed his face roughly. It was already difficult to get out of a normal prison, let alone one with magic spells. Yohan did not even know how to use magic because he was not from this world."I can't just stay here. I have to get out or-argh!"Yohan fell down. His back felt hot. It was so hot that he could feel it almost all over his body. Yohan took off his clothes, and the black marks on his body glowed like the color of fire."What is this shit! I don't even know why I have this black m
Yohan looked around the dungeon. There was a blue light surrounding the iron door of the prison. The blue light was wavy and seemed to move in place."Is that the magic the knights cast?" Yohan muttered.Actually, he was curious about the magic light. Would something happen if he touched it? Yohan had no magic in his body, at least he knew that."I want to try to touch it."Yohan stretched out his hand, ready to touch the blue light. But suddenly doubt crept into his heart."Wait, what if I die?"Yohan paced the prison. He had not seen anyone since he was imprisoned in this dungeon. He wondered how long he would be imprisoned in this dungeon."Can Alastair save me? He belongs to a high-ranking noble family, right?"Yohan approached the blue magical light that shrouded his prison cell. His fingers stretched out. Maybe he should just try it. Dangerous things were nothing new to him. In his original world, he had been a bodyguard. Even the last thing he did before being sucked into this
