Chapter 9: Yes, I Do!

Angelo sat among the crowd in pain as he watched the Priest proceed with the marriage ceremony, there was not so much he could do as Don Romero’s men sat with him to keep him from making any move.

“Will you, Don Romero Gustavo, take her, Trisha Rodriguez as your lawfully wedded wife? To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health till death do you part?” The Priest dressed in his priestly apparel presented the long-awaited question to the Don.

Don Romero looked at the Priest as he made his statement, and then turned to look at Angelo where he sat on the front row with an evil smirk which only showed how powerful he was over Angelo, he replied,

“Yes, I do.” He returned his gaze to Trisha looking at her lustfully from her boobs to her thighs and all, smacking his lips.

Trisha had strictly been warned not to drop a tear at the wedding to cause embarrassment for the Don or her parents otherwise they would make Annabel suffer for it. But seeing Angelo forced to sit at the front row witnessing the wedding and how uncomfortable the Don made her feel, she couldn’t help but cry.

“No. No. No darling. Don’t do that now, someone else is going to suffer for it as you already know.” The Don immediately took control of the situation to put Trisha right, reminding her of what was at stake.

She quickly swallowed her tears, cleaned her eyes, and pretended as though they were tears of joy.

“Please continue, am fine.” She replied to the Priest who showed concern about her state.

Trisha turned towards her parents with a disdainful look for putting her through this hell of torture but her parents couldn’t even look back at her. They covered their face in pretense. Then she looked at her brothers where they stood, a little distance from the aisle. With them was Annabel who they had dressed up beautifully ready for when the auction would begin. Trisha felt much more pity for Annabel than she did for herself, but Don Romero noticed her as he followed her eyes to see who she was concentrating on.

“You know, darling. I won’t be auctioning her again tonight,” he whispered in her ears and waited to see her show of relief before adding, “I’ve got better plans for you two tonight. And Angelo will be there to watch.”

This statement broke Trisha’s heart as fear of whatever plans the Don had gripped her, the Priest’s voice snapped her back to the moment.

“Miss Trisha, will you, Trisha Rodriguez, take this man, Don Romero Gustavo, as your lawfully wedded husband? To love and to cherish, in sickness and in health till death do you part?” The Priest asked her as everyone watched in smiles for her response.

Trisha took a moment to look at Angelo, feeling sorry for him and how humiliated he was but she needed to do what she had to do to ease up things for his sister. But to her surprise, Angelo smiled at her nodding his head in acceptance of whatever decision she made. This was much comfort to her as she turned back to Don Romero and the Priest with her response,

“YES, I DO.”

The whole crowd went loud and clapping.

Taking a good look with smiles at the couple, the Priest made his declarations,

“With the power vested in me by my Master, the Gentle Don, King of the Kingdom of Angels, I now pronounce you man and knife.” Swiftly, he brought out a knife from his cloak and stabbed Don Romero in the chest.

The crowd went nuts with shouts and shock, Don Romero’s men rushed to get hold of the Priest but snipers began shooting them one after the other from nowhere.

GUNS BLAZING AND BULLETS FLYING.

SCREAMS AND SHOUTINGS.

“The Don is dead. Run!”

“What’s happening, who are they?”

“Kill that man!”

“Get the girl!”

“Don!”

The crowd scattered as everyone began seeking safety. Brandon who acted as the Priest immediately grabbed Trisha and led her away to safety.

In no time, helicopters had arrived at the island with armed men dropping from it and snipers shooting from it, the wedding became a blood bath as Angelo’s men gunned down every one of Don Romero’s men.

Angelo remained where he was, sitting and watching as his men went into action against the Romero Gustavo empire, taking down all his men and his powerful friends fleeing for their lives.

As the chaos settled with Angelo’s men taking full control of the island, Angelo asked them to bring him Don Romero. His men brought the Don to Angelo and dropped him at his feet where he sat, he was bleeding and begging for an ambulance.

Angelo took a good look at him and said to him,

“How the mighty has fallen, Romero. I guess you are not as powerful as you thought after all.”

“Huh…please…get me…an ambu—lance. Am dying,” Romero groaned in pains to the blade stuck deep into his chest.

“Where is all that power you claim to have, huh? You took my sister and my wife, and you threatened to devour them like they were nothing.” The thoughts of the things Don Romero had said to Angelo before the wedding further infuriated Angelo as he said them back to Don Romero.

“You see, Romero, your suffering has just begun. I promise you, I’ll wipe your name and existence from the face of the earth and everyone will see you for the dust you are.”

Don Romero couldn’t think of anything at the moment other than an ambulance to save his life, he couldn’t even grasp the accurate knowledge of who was talking to him right there.

“Master, your wife,” Brandon called out to Angelo as he brought Trisha to him.

She ran to him, hugging and kissing him while he checked her to ensure she was fine. Angelo had gotten his wife back and he was excited about it, but the next news took away that excitement faster than it came.

“Master, we couldn’t find your sister.”
