CHAPTER 204

“Shut up, and get lost,” Elora’s words stunned both Russell and Rekha.

Regan sat right where he was, but he tried not to look unhappy, though his mouth slightly turned down.

“M-Mom!” Russell quickly said, “what are you doing?”

“I was just joking, Russell,” Elora forced out a laugh. “Did you not like it?”

“J-Joking?” Russell looked confused. Surely, she didn’t look like she was joking.

“It’s been so long since I joked, and from my son’s reaction, I think I came across as a bit harsh,” Elora said, trying to get up from the bed. Russell helped her. She sat up. Regan was on her left, still sitting in the chair, and Russell was on his right, standing. “You can leave, Rekha. I’ll take care of the guest,” she said.

“Uh…” Rekha looked at Russell for confirmation. Since he nodded his head, she had to walk out without saying another word. She actually wanted to be there to impress either Russell or Regan so she could become a maid in a rich family. Now, her hopes began to turn into vapor.
