CHAPTER 273

At Tuna Waves.

“Why haven’t you married yet?” a female worker named Caroline asked Irene. “You looked so homely. I’m sure there are some nice guys that would marry with their eyes closed.”

“If it was up to me, I’d have long married some millionaire,” Irene sighed, “but my dad wouldn’t even let me date anybody. I had to lie to him about this job, too, because he would never agree with me working as a receptionist even though it’s a five-star hotel.”

“You really have a controlling father.”

“It’s better than having no father,” Irene said, knowing how many struggles Jessica had to go through and had to stop her education after highschool. “My dad has done so much for me, so I think I should marry the guy he selects for me, but of course, I need to like the guy as well.”

“And when will your father find you this ‘chosen’ guy?”

“He wants me to get a good job first,” Irene said. “He thinks I should have a job and have some experience before marriage. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.”
