I had to take care of some urgent work these past couple of days, so I couldn't upload chapters. Sorry for that. Thanks for being patient. And a bigger thanks for those who vote even when chapters aren't published. You guys particularly make me feel happy. (I'm not trying to get your votes by saying this. I really am happy because it would mean you're eagerly waiting for the chapters.) Thank you again. Cheers.
Charlotte finished reading the new seasonal report made on her bank, and it was going very well. So she was all smiles.“Ma’am,” William entered her room. “Young Lady Kyra bought an apartment and a villa near the eastern shore.”“Yeah, what about it?”“She didn’t buy with debt,” William said.“What?” Charlotte put the file down and frowned. “Where did she get the money from then?”“I believe… It's from Sir Liam.”“Tsk, what’s she thinking? I would have given her interest-free money, which she didn’t even need to pay tax for,” Charlotte couldn’t hide her mild frustration. “And what is Liam thinking? Is this his way of getting back at me? I can’t let him grow distance between me and my daughter.” “Do you want me to arrange a meeting with him, ma’am?” William politely asked.“No…” Charlotte didn’t have enough heart to face him right now. “If I go to him right now, he’ll definitely make me beg to come to him. If I obey all his demands, he’ll make me lose all my freedoms and live the rest
William came to Tom’s house. He knocked multiple times on the door, but nobody opened it.“I know someone’s inside,” William said. “Either you open the door, or I’ll break it open for you.”“Who are you?” Tom shouted from the inside. “Did my shitty son send you?”“No. Why don’t you open the door?”“Unless you tell me what you want, I won’t open anything, mate,” Tom confidently said. “I advise you to not force me to put my guns to use.”William didn’t flinch even at the mention of guns. “Where’s Russell?”Tom’s expression changed. “Russell? Who’s that?”William forced out a smile. “I’m a good friend of Russell, sir. I mean no harm.”“Didn’t you just say you might break open the door for me?” Tom snorted. “Your words clearly don’t add up, mate. Why don’t you turn your sour little ass and get the hell out of my property? Unless, you want me to call the cops, of course.”William looked everywhere on the floor. “I don’t see any footwear other than a pair of old shoes. Can I take it tha Rus
The attendant turned around in fear of getting slapped in the face. Sure enough, Karensa’s hand came flying at his cheek. However, Russell caught her hand just in time, surprising not just the attendant but also the woman who had her hair styling done just an hour ago.“Why are you stopping me from teaching him some manners?” Karensa coldly asked. “He’s clearly about to talk back about me, or are you saying it’s okay for him to badmouth me when I’m employing him?”“You’re free to fire him if you don’t like him,” Russell calmly replied, “but I don’t think you should hit him just because you pay him salary. Besides, he’s a grown man. It’s not good for him to receive a slap.”“Are you saying that from experience?” Karensa raised one of her eyebrows.“You can take it however you want, Ms. Karensa,” Russell let go of her hand. “By the way, why did you send so much food to my room? My mom was shocked by it. She thought I ordered all that food.”“It’s just a bit of food. What’s there to be s
The verbal battle between Ross and Liam continued for a long time, longer than the time they were allowed to.Both of them kept shooting arrows at each other. What Russell noticed was that Ross was targeting mostly personal things related to Liam, whereas Liam was targeting the business and professional career of Ross and how he was receiving millions of dollars of funds from the foreign country every year, especially the current year as the elections were nearing.Even though it was Ross who was mostly asking questions, he didn’t get many answers as Liam replied to him with another question most of the time.Normally, one wouldn’t be allowed to speak this way in the senate because most people who would get interrogated would be guilty and so struggle to answer, but Liam was an exception. He was giving straightforward answers when it was necessary. At other times, he showed the audience who he was by asking them questions they had no answers to.In the end, Ross once again targeted Li
A minute earlier.“What do you think? Will he come to our side?” a voice from the other side of the phone call asked Ross.“He’s very stubborn, but if the juices in his brain haven’t rotten, then he’s going to bend himself to serve our interests,” Ross said. “After all, the media channels he owns are nothing compared to what we owe. In fact, we can make every channel in the world do our bidding by paying them money. We control the money supply. We create cash out of thin air. We only need to credit an account to make others listen to us.”“But we already tried that,” the officer from the Federal agency replied. “We put over a billion dollars as advance in his bank account. We even sent gold bullions to his estate, but he sent the money and the gold back. He’s clearly not hungry for more money. He also doesn’t fear us, probably because he has backing from the Aeson family. Because one of the supreme families is involved in this, even we can’t act recklessly. But how are we going to dea
“How did it go, Dad?” Kyra asked Liam on the phone, knowing he was just called to the senate office.“They are trying to press me through the banks as well as all kinds of rubbish things,” Liam didn’t sound happy or afraid for that matter.“Even the banks?” Kyra was surprised.“Well, banks are all trash. Especially, the central banking system is a currency cartel owned by the feds and private businessmen,” Liam said with a hint of hatred in his voice, making Kyra wonder if he was talking about her mother. “If they want they can easily print more money and give it to the needy and the homeless, but they let people suffer from the unending inflation. They are the biggest mafia out there. I may own many lawyers, but they own the courts. So, fighting them legally will be impossible, but I will still be putting pressure on them from every direction possible. I’m looking for other ways to shut their mouths at least for a while. Hopefully, things will go my way. Even if they don't, and somet
RUSSELL’S POV::It’s amazing how difficult speaking nothing throughout the day can be.After hearing Karensa talk and talk and talk words into his ears for a long time, I’ve decided to walk away from her and give her the task to catch up to me in her car. It was a test I started on a little serious note because I was frustrated, but as I kept crossing roads and alleys to avoid getting caught by her, it gave me a lot of fun. Then again, this task wasn’t for people who hated sweating because running away just did that.I walked whenever I believed I was in Karensa’s sight, and when she would move out of my sight, I started running. This way, I knew it’d frustrate her a lot more. This went on for almost thirty minutes, but that time flew by very fast.Thirty minutes of being silent while running on busy roads and alleys was dangerous on many levels, but it was also very thrilling. In the end, I stopped by the medium-sized Drake's restaurant because I saw a familiar face. And it completel
“I chased cars and jet planes before, but I never chased a man before, whether it’s on foot or by driving in a car,” Karensa said. “This was a fun and frustrating forty minutes, I must say.”“You chased jets before?” Russell sounded more shocked than surprised.“Ah, yeah, I know how to fly the planes,” Karensa said, flipping her hair back. “It’s very easy. If you want, I can take you for a ride.”“Ah, not really,” Russell replied. He didn’t want to tell her that he was someone who was afraid of heights. It wasn’t as bad for him to call it a phobia, but he’d rather avoid looking down from the top of a building as it’d always give his body a weird discomfort that was beyond description.“Fight travel gets really boring really fast, though,” Karensa said. “Unlike on the ground level, you don’t have any traffic up there. So, I prefer journeying in cars and partying on flights. I cut my last birthday cake at 50,000 feet high,” she proudly said, “though I had to bug my dad to prepare a spec
