Chapter 5: The voices

One of the customers seemed to have gotten a glimpse of something on Donald's wrist.

“Could it be the same as the one I once had?” A very dark man pondered as he stared at the spot where Donald stood.

Sipping his drink, he decided to keep tabs on Donald at all costs.

“Get Mr. Jamie here!”

Donald ordered as he stomped into the lounge with two scary men. Mr. Jamie was scared shitless as he wondered what Donald had in mind.

“It might just be as humiliating as before”

“Quickly sign these documents or face the wrath of everyone you owe” Donald divulged looking resolute.

Mr. Jamie was at the point of tears as he felt unimaginably weak and helpless. Handing his company over to someone, he referred to as disgusting, was a very hard thing to do.

“Maybe we should talk about things, don't you think so?” Mr. Jamie persuaded.

“The poor fragile Donald is long gone now. Sign or get picked up by those you owe.” Donald commanded.

Picking up the pen, Mr. Jamie gazed intensely at Donald, while trying his best to suppress the tears in his eyes.

He signed it, picked his bag and slowly walked out of the hotel, amidst the prying eyes of the customers in the lounge.

Donald's face lit up with smile as he felt pleased with the turnout of things.

He was in the middle of addressing the staff and dividing responsibilities among the staff and his men when he saw a very dark man approaching him.

Donald subconsciously stared into the dark man's eyes and heard voices in his head.

{That is the bracelet. I should have known that I misplaced it here, and he somehow gained control of it. That's why he's this rich, I'll question him and maybe act friendly until I'm able to get it back}

Donald's eyes widened in shock as he heard the dark man's thoughts. His heart raced a bit, causing him to shut his eyes and dismiss the staff.

On opening his eyes, he glanced at his watch and was about walking out through the side door, before the dark man hurriedly caught up with him.

“Hi. Change is constant, but yours came rather fast” the dark man said with a sinister look on his face.

On hearing his voice, Donald stopped, turned around and replied, “it only takes two seconds for everything to change”

“I can see that, I wouldn't want to bore you, I'm Michael Keys, CEO of Tyler's group. We deal with everything hospitality management and tourism”

“Good. I'm Donald Alfred” Donald replied, looking as though the latter had greatly bored him with his statements.

{He didn't mention any business he runs, could it be that he was yet to properly fit into the status of a black Kaka'ri holder? Was he trying not to show off? Does he know me? What could be going on in that mind of his?}

Donald managed to retain his composure despite hearing the weird thoughts of Michael Keys.

Glancing at his watch occasionally, he gave Michael the impression of having little or no time to spare.

“Obviously, you look very busy. I'd love to see you again, we could talk business over tea if you don't mind”

“That'd be awesome" Donald replied and stared into his eyes once more.

{I don't know what you intend to do or what you have in mind. One thing is certain, I'll surely get back my bracelet, even if you put up a fight, your life might just go with it. I guess my pretence was real enough.}

Donald felt weak in the knees as Michael's words scared him shitless. On getting into the car, Donald rubbed the bracelet.

“Black Kaka'ri?”

[Master]

“Michael Keys? Your previous master?”

[Affirmative. One of the misfortunes that befell me]

“He knows that I'm the one with his bracelet, how dangerous is he?”

[Much more dangerous than you can imagine. He wasn't able to unlock the mind reading ability, and he was slowly getting tired of me giving him nothing but money. He unlocked other uncanny abilities too]

Donald felt cold sweat run down his spine as he digested everything he heard.

“How do I handle things?”

[He's not as dangerous as you. You have what he doesn't have]

Donald rolled his eyes as he wondered how mind reading could help him in a situation like this.

Meanwhile......

At the “Woods Consortium"

Chairman Wood was seated on the sofa in the well furnished office, looking furious as usual.

Jayden was seated at the other end alongside his father, Director Johnson Wood of the Woods Consortium.

“He was just a delivery guy in most hotel's, how he amassed so much wealth to attain the position of a director still surprises me.”

“He literally kicked off Uncle Wood's bowl of noodles” Jayden expressed, looking displeased, but his words only infuriated his uncle, Chairman Wood.

“You watch it! I've gotten more insults than usual, don't add to it!”

“I was only explaining how…"

With a raise of his father's hand, Jayden didn't speak any further.

“To think that the kid thought of everything to do and found nothing fun to do other than kicking the bowl of noodles in my hands”

Chairman Wood complained, leaving Jayden with no other option but to roll his eyes.

“They happily threw me out, this is unacceptable! You need to get back the company for me and deal with that kid!” Chairman Wood demanded of his elder brother while tightening his fist.

“That's okay, I'll get back Pounds and Cloak for you and end the Donald Alfred name. Leave it to me”

“Dad I need some money. I got an invitation to an A-list artist's birthday latter today” Jayden spoke up, ready for his dad to vomit all the cash at one go.

“$8, 000,000 precisely”

“What on earth do you need $8,000,000 for, and who are you attending the party with?” Director Johnson tried keeping his calm as he questioned his son, who was seriously talking out of proportion.

Jayden was mute for a moment before bringing out his phone and showing something to his dad.

“The truth is…."
